Join the new world

I am AndraX2000, and I am running for Senator in the District of Columbia. I believe that a Senator should be an active part of the eUSA culture, both in the forums and IRC. As a Senator, I pledge to only vote on issues which I believe to fully understand, and to ask questions until I understand them fully. I will also vote based on game mechanics, not real world philosophy. My goal is for the eUSA to have a unmatched economy, a competent military, and a healthy population.

Import Taxes
Many of our Atlantis allies use 99% taxes on imports to prevent the US and other countries from selling in their marketplace. As senator, I would encourage the president to negotiate with these countries to lower import taxes. Unfortunately, I feel that if friendly negotiations fail, we have little recourse. I would not support an increase in our import tax, because it would do very little. Our manufactures can not afford an increased import tax on diamonds or iron, and there are very few foreign goods sold in the other markets.

Domestic Taxes
I am happy with the way domestic taxes are. They allow for a strong military and social budget. I would only support a decrease in income tax if there is an offsetting increase in VAT.

Issuing Money
I am a current supporter of keeping the exchange rate stable by printing money and offering on the Money Market. However, I think there needs to be a comprehensive investigation into where the money ends up. The biggest danger in printing money is that a foreign power buys it, and then floods the Money Market with cheap dollars a few days before an attack.

Military
Our military is our backbone. The current military budget is adequate, but I would support an increase if the cost of weapons becomes too high for the current budget. I also support government run weapons and iron companies for supporting the military.

As Senator, I would propose that part of the military budget would be used on recruiting of high ranking soldiers. As the Romanian army dwindles due to their sustained protest, there may be many soldiers who still wish to play, but are looking for government support. We should be recruiting these disenfranchised soldiers. I also believe that the eUSA government should make a sincere, humble, and coordinated effort to repatriate high ranking soldiers that have left the eUSA due to hard feelings.

As Senator, I would propose that we do a detailed investigation into advanced fighting techniques to make sure that our soldiers are being trained to deal maximum damage.

PEACE has a strong propaganda machine which demoralizes and confuses our citizens. As Senator, I would propose the creation of a PSYOP unit of the military whose mission is spread pro-eUSA propaganda and counter PEACE propaganda. These individuals would be chosen based on the ability to write articles that can trigger a wide range of emotions. This is not a group of trolls -- an effective PSYOP unit would blend into the enemy's media.

Other domestic concerns
A tiny portion of the budget should be set aside for contracting with private citizens who have real life talents that could benefit the eUS. We already have many great volunteers, such as One Eye, who provide invaluable statistics and economic insights. As Senator, I would propose that these citizens who go above and beyond -- spending RL hours crunching numbers -- be recognized and rewarded for their extraordinary effort. We have a talented pool of lawyers, mathematicians, economists, gamers, writers, and web developers that we can draw on to help give the eUSA a competitive advantage. We should be using their talents more.
