Mattrix's Corner - PZP: A New Hope?

Day 297, 05:00 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Chrissetti
Change places!

While there were a few reshuffles in the major parties this week after the frantic spamming of mailboxes by party election hopefuls had died down, there was a distinct feeling of anticlimax. Had anything really changed? Party manifestos seemed to carry on plugging the same message as before, perhaps with a bit of revamping and jazzing up, but essentially they were the same steak with a different dressing. It's enough to put some off of voting altogether - what's the point when nothing changes?

Out with the old

This was not true of the ailing Great Britain Party, which only a few weeks ago was down to one member and a distinctly feeble-looking political future. After a surge of membership from members of the Flat Earth Society forums (hereafter, 'FES') took the tally to 19 in the space of a few days, the resulting victory for Chrissetti allowed a dramatic reshaping of the party and a defiant new message: the mundane was out, for good. GBP was dead; in it's place arose the People's Zeteticist Party, the PZP.

The very nature of the FES is enough to attract a constant stream of ill-conceived spamming and flaming. Naturally, this often completely misses the point of the society and related forums, whose spirit will no doubt carry through to the running of the party and the nature of it's vision. After all, why do you accept that the Earth is a sphere (ish)? It's what you were taught in school? Simple tests such as a ship 'sinking' below the horizon as it sails away? The seasons? Space photography? The list seems endless, and yet while a 'round Earth' is not the only possible explanation it is accepted without question. This is dangerous thinking, the sort of indoctrination which the PZP opposes in a defiant manner.

Reject the mundane

The PZP stands for knowledge and reason, open-minded discussion, debate, experimentation in the unknown and the trial of unusual ideas. Other parties may all follow the well-beaten track to play to the masses, but the PZP will never sacrifice it's devotion to following up on the wild hunch that could dramatically strengthen the eUK, or improve the lives of its citizens.

If you value freedom of thought and expression, freedom to follow the crazy idea that just might work, freedom to have your voice heard and your opinion matter, or if you've ever thought that just because everyone believes something, that doesn't make it right, then the PZP is waiting for you. Join us and bring the fire back into the eUK!
