Marcus Suridius for eIreland President - Economics Manifesto
Sean MacDiarmata
Citizens of Ireland,
Right now, thanks to the various built-in changes brought on by the Admins, the economy is pretty much in the toilet, and there's no sense in pretending that one man in one term can revitalise the economy of Ireland when this is an eGlobal issue. If you look through the exchange rates of local currencies for gold around the world you'll find there isn't a huge amount of difference nation to nation in terms of what people are getting for their hard-earned (or bought) gold.
Where the differences really show through is in the price of finished goods, and in some regards we're not doing so badly. Our Q5 weapons are price-wise fairly close to countries like eCanada and eUS, being relatively cheap compared to some others, but similarly our Q5 houses are significantly more than those elsewhere. For our citizens, naturally, it's better if our goods are cheaper but for our businessmen and women this is worrying; with goods selling close to the cost of manufacture, or even at or below cost, there's little incentive to employ anyone when you're having to pay in wages what could even be more than your profit. That would be fine if everyone could afford their own companies but it leaves newer and poorer citizens at a considerable disadvantage long-term when it comes to the job market.
I'm not going to lie and say I have the magic solution to this problem, particularly now that citizens can sell stock they've bought elsewhere without even owning a company and managers can work at all their own companies every day. But, what I do have, is a Minister of Finance with a huge wealth (no pun intended) of experience in the department and a great working knowledge of economics and in-game mechanics who will be in place this month to analyze our situation and make the best possible decisions as to how we should proceed. As I said, most every country is in the mire with this-- but, with my MoF in place, Ireland will come through my term in office as fiscally healthy as possible.
The man who'll help us do this, ladies and gentlemen, is Dubhthaigh. I have complete faith in him and anyone who knows him at all knows that he is more than capable of doing the job.
I am accepting applications for the deputy position as of now.
I'm also hoping to form a small committee with economically-minded citizens from other countries to see if it might be possible for us to work together to mutually improve each other's situations. I have already begun to reach out to noted economists with this in mind.
I shall be releasing my government minister list but I have chosen two people so far.
As mentioned above, Dubhthaigh will be the Minister of Finance and one of my Ministers of Defence will be Reactionist. I believe Reactionist has worked his socks off this month and deserves a chance to continue his role as MoD.
As I said I will post my minister list tomorrow, as of now id ask all Irish citizens to read and vote up the IA orders - IA Orders
Thanks for reading and if you haven't already read my Military and Foreign Affairs article here it is Defence and Foreign Affairs

Awesome.
About time you ran, the country needs you man.
Good luck, I look forward to seeing you at the helm sir.
Good Luck!
Good luck o7
Awesome x2
Good luck.
You are right, the economy is fubar, at the moment. The next big change that is about to hit is the storage limitations. There will probably be a drastic overreaction to the effects of that and eRep will make another short-sighted change that drastically changes things. Right now, I'm just bracing myself.

Marcus is a great candidate and I will endeavour to do my best for both him and eIreland.
Dubhthaigh is a good choice for MoF. He's proven himself capable in the past. I like the idea of an international committee btw.
Looking forward to the election. Good luck Marcus.
I can be Minister of State if you want.
Good luck, Marcus.
This man will lead this Blessed Isle to great things! Best of luck, Marcus! o7
You just lost my vote.
The last time Dubhthaigh was Minister of Finance 10k IEP dissapeared and our CP stated Dubh offered to pay him off to keep quiet about this and halfway through the term Dubh dissappeared and was not seen for the rest of it.
You not notice what Dan posted in the Dail about that very CP?
Outstanding!
Am I reading this right: You have actually no other manifesto other than "[...] a Minister of Finance with a huge wealth (no pun intended) of experience in the department and a great working knowledge of economics and in-game mechanics"?
probably doesn't matter much since i'm from the eUS, but still, it'll be great to see you as Ireland CP. Good luck.
@Reichenbacher
Am I reading your comment right?
Working for Ireland almost 24 hours a day for a year in every possible part of the game is the Manifesto of Marcus Suridius.
You should understand that most of the best Presidents have not been experts in all areas, they simply know how to make the right choices in regards to staff. Dubh is imo the best MoF Ireland ever had so I think you are being a little disrespectful to Marcus with your comment. Marcus also has friendships with the some of the best people in this entire game meaning he always has the best advice before making any decision.
Also, if you are placing your vote solely on who is stronger economically then you are wasting your vote as the economy in this game is so unpredictable that not even the experts can predict it.
War drives the economy anyway and marcus is one of the best when it comes to military.
Kavrocks x2
Kav & Moo I have already said Dan posted on the forum about this thing with Dubh and before it was posted I knew he did nothing wrong. if you both want to ignore both what Admin said and Dan posted then go ahead ignorance is bliss as they say.
Reichenbacher - I have said before the economy is not my strong suit and also said ill get the best available in Ireland to be MoF and I have. Would you rather a CP who works his socks of and knows his limits or a deluded CP?

Link to post abot Dubh and the missing gold/iep, explaining that he was not involved and framed by CT
I think both Dubh and Marcus are owed a huge apology from the finger-pointers.
Yeah IB, I didn't go posting or commenting on Jacques article's and find this very poor to be saying this on mine.
Good luck Marcus and shame on the finger-pointers.
Oh ffs, Nogin, Moo pop up to try do some mudslinging
Whoopidydoodaaaaaaaaa DAY
Good luck Marcus

I was merely summarizing your article. No offense intended.
None taken mate.
Best of Luck Marcus and Dubh.
Some tough decisions ahead
Marcus Thanks for giving me the time to read your first reply and to find out what Dan said before insulting me. Much appreciated.
I truly hope this economic 'manifesto' reflects the candidate's admitted lack of insight and not the reading of his choice for MoF.
I love how Connell didn't even read Nogins post before mudslinging... some personal crap filters what ppl want to see I guess.
