Bulgaria boosted their goal difference by seeing off Malta 6-0, in a match that featured a hat-trick from Lech Poznan’s Aleksandar Tonev, who was making just his second appearance for his country. The Bulgarians now lie a point behind Italy, who sat out this set of fixtures, but have played a game more.
