M.I.T. Structure, duties and enlistment. (Again)

Day 882, 22:47 Published in Thailand Pakistan by Gates Schellinger

As some of you saw in This article, that I'm the new General of the MIT. In concert with Vincent were pushing for better organization of the military. I know this has been said many times before, but we're totally srs this time.

That being said over the past few days we've been outlining the direction we wish to take the military in. An effective military is the most important piece of infrastructure a country can have, it fills so many roles in one. Most obvious is the ability to fight for your country, and to damage, and hopefully out damage the other guys. A military can also be used as a tool to help educate new players, improve community activity, increase retention, recruit existing players, a method of political defense, and a way to get important messages out to the rest of your citizenship. To do this might seem like a lofty goal, considering we are starting from scratch, but it's a goal I believe we can reach if people are willing to put in a serious effort.

Military Forums
Right now we're in the early stages of developing a Military Forum and hope to have a link and open up the forums to the regular soldier and citizen shortly. The site will include Important information to the soldier, along with Daily Orders, and will serve as the vehicle for roll-calls.

Introduction of the Divisions of the M.I.T.

The Mobile Infantry of Thailand will be split into two main groups, and various duties will be explained further.

Legio X

Logo to be determined

Legio X is named for the famous 10th Legion of the Roman Empire, who were known for their ability to conquer just about any fortress, the most infamous example was the siege of the Israeli Fortress of Masada, where they built a ramp up the side of the mountain to conquer the City (albeit an empty one).

Legio X is the elite fighting force of eThailand, to that end we must be highly mobilized and able to deploy quickly and efficiently. We must know the proper way to fight. The benefits of being a member of Legio X is a higher number of deployments, better supply, and pride. However we must realize that fighting in battles are not the only duties that are required of us. Our members must be more active than the typical soldier, and must be more selfless, and may be called upon to serve the country in other ways. As activity is a must, Members of Legio X must log onto the forum a minimum of one time to check orders, and respond to the daily roll/call thread, preferably on their last login of the day. Unless otherwise notified, members of Legio X should wait until the last log in of the day to fight.

Minimum Str and Rank requirement for Legio X is 20 str and the rank of General

Firebacks

Logo to be determined

The Firebacks are named for the national bird of Thailand, and will serve as the ranking division of the military. They often will be deployed in concert with Legio X.

They will have many of the same duties and responsibilities as members of Legio X, including forum activity, and the carrying out of various other orders

More specific information will be relayed later by the CO of the Firebacks, Johnnie Danger

The minimum Str requirement is 10 str

Politicians and the M.I.T.

The M.I.T. do not have politicians, however we will have congressmen presidents, and party presidents among our ranks. If you wish to serve as a politician and carry out your term as you see fit, then the Thahan Phran is where you will be enlisted.

Members of the MIT, in order to take advantage of the high experience, will often be called upon to run for office, and must run for office where and when they are needed. We will also submit to pre-assigned voting, and pre rollover voting (where applicable) to ensure that we are able to protect ourselves politically. As a member of the MIT a soldier will not be allowed to benefit from his service as a soldier, and thus all gold received from winning an election will be donated back to the eThai government (typically to the Central Bank of Thailand).

Members of the M.I.T who are elected to an office are required to stay in that office until called upon to leave that office, and are ordered to do so by a superior officer. If a member of the M.I.T. is asked to leave office they must also comply. (Mainly for deployment duties, as the need for congressmen dwindle right after presidential elections). Members of the M.I.T. who are also a member of congress will vote as directed, use their citizenship pass on approved persons, and will use their mandates for proposals when asked to do so. If you don't think you can do this, but still wish to be a part of the TAF, then as I said, the Thahan Phran is the branch for you.

Specialized units

As we're aware, Thailand is a melting pot of a number of different nationalities, knowing this we must take steps that all orders are clear and carried out without confusion. This will also help with coordination. If we did not split up our squads everyone would be receiving their information from the same guy who is on the other side of the world and sleeping. With specialized squad you'll have your orders translated in your native tounge, you'll have interaction with your officer, who will be more or less active at the same time as they are. Meaning you will be supplied and receive up to date orders that you normally wouldn't.

The main groups of citizens we have are Spanish, Slovenian, Greeks, and the ex-British empire.

If you're interested as serving either as an officer/translator of one of the Specialized squads, please message me in game.

Enlistment
If you have read this entire article and are still interested in joining the military, or any branch of the eTaf for that matter, please fill out the following Enlistment Form.

If you have already enlisted previously using Vincent's form, you are not required to do so, and you will be contacted shortly.
