Lunatics

I hesitate to write this article but I feel SOMETHING must be said about what is fast becoming a National disgrace and frankly dangerous.
The Facts:
A. Our CP was last heard of on Sunday. Because of this there have been unexpected RW in Brussels already, a general lack of direction, and quite bluntly it leaves us looking stupid to the rest of the New World and dangerously exposed defensively.
B. The Cabinet met at 9pm GMT on Wednesday to decide what to do. It was decided that if the CP did not return by Friday 8pm impeachment would be needed and jerryGFL would take over as he was the runner up in the election.
C. One member of the Commons takes it upon himself to pr-empt these carefuly made plans (of a bi-partisan Cabinet) and starts the impeachment vote early "because we have not debated it". Impeachment fails and we have no CP.
D. Opinions differ as to when a new impeachment vote can be brought. Some say 2 days some 3 days some 1 week.
The Commons have left the Cabinet and eUK leaderless, in a dangerous state definsively and a laughing stock. You guys realy need to think about the good of eUK and not about your privaleges! Get a grip and give us some leadership! This vote amounts to nothing short of a security risk for Gods sake!

Could not have said it better myself, voted!
The in-game vote jumped the gun. It was not meant to be posted without a discussion link.
i agree with this. i supported FD and if he was gone on 1 or 2 days yes. but its near a week. also can BBB not take over since he is the VP.
VP is not an in-game role
There's no danger associated with the Belgium resistance war. It's already been pre-agreed that Brussels would be joining the rest of the country sooner or later. As for Final Destiny, that I'm unsure of, but Dan was acting as a renegade as some Congressman tend to do.
The Brussels resistance war was unknown about before it started. I can certainly tell you it was not budgeted and is damn silly. Nobody realy knew what to do until jerry told them. Next time it could it could be far worse.
Voted.
Certainly leaves us in eUK looking quite silly to the rest of the eWorld... Well worded hun.
SaraDroz I had no idea you were in the War Council. RW in Belgium has been on the cards for ages, only someone pressed the button too quickly.
As for the in-game impeachment, I can't see how anyone can say it should have been posted with a forum discussion because there was no forum discussion.
Richard I think that Sara's point was what if it was London and it was a massive PEACE offensive, what then?
HazzN What if it wasn't 'arranged'? Would FD appear out of thin air, and stand with those of us that were prepared to fight to 0 wellness? No he wouldn't have HazzN, FD is an executive, we rely on him for immediate action. Hazzn you should know that as CO of the RGs your maximum response time is 24hrs or you loose the job, however I'd wager that even after say 12hrs people would doubt your ability to successfully fulfill the duties of the post. FD has been absent for days on end. HazzN if he couldn't fulfill the needs of your post, what makes you think he is fit to be PM?
I'm just sitting here, glad that i was 'born' under the era of Dish and 'brought up' under the reign of DT, because so far Final Destiny, this citizen remains unimpressed!!
I understand that you're upset, but really. What does writing this achieve? Imagine if the real eUK was in a vulnerable state? And the Press was running around making us sound defenceless.
This sort of article shouldn't be published. It is dangerous and irresponsible.
It absolutely should be published, because someone (congress!!) has to do something about it. Why should we doubt our leader's presence every day, and with that doubt our ability to defend ourselves--were we to be attacked.
Congress is currently attempting to resolve the situation. This article is not speeding the resolution, merely adding to the chaos.
To use an old phrase: "Don't talk about problems, talk about solutions."
Seriously, if the entire military of the UK suddenly vanished, what would it achieve if the press screamed it out to the masses. What does this achieve?
Also, do you think FD could have physically stopped 5n4keyes from starting the RW?
Lastly, what do you propose to do about it? Troll the HoC?
@Ian Keers: the point is that we plebs NEED Congress to actualy do things right. I also wonder just how many new players actualy know about this? Is it not someones job to inform them?
voted and very much agree we're one of the greatest political countries in the world and we should reflect that on this
@Sara: Time and place was unknown, and thought to be somewhat later, but the full unification of new Belgium is nothing that hasn't been discussed and prepared for.
@The Bruce Trust: A good point, but it's unlikely. Non-resistance war declarations require time and a lengthy vote in the instigator's country. If word of FD's absence did get out, it would have taken a day or so for it to reach PEACE's ears. And even then, the country's defence is run by the war council and the army, they know what to do just as much as the CP.
"This sort of article shouldn't be published. It is dangerous and irresponsible." - Iain Keers
I have to say that I am shocked. Hearing such words from a congressman I begin to wonder if I am really in a democratic country, let alone one of the best in the eWorld. By this phrase you are trying to destroy the freedom of press in this country. The congress made a big mess and now is trying to put the blame on the people who speak out their mind.
If the congress wanted to keep the absence of FD as secret information, then it should have released an official statement that FD is unable to act for a short period of time and until he returns BBB is the acting president. After they should have discussed the impeachment, enforced it and place jerry in power.
Now instead they messed up. But that was not the biggest problem. They could have said that that was just a mistake of one congressman. However the congressmen started blaming each other in the public arena creating a real chaos.
So Iain Keers, I ask you to be a true politician and have some sense of responsibility.
@Tyvas: You raise some good points, and I agree with you in some ways. This is a democratic country, and as such it is the duty of people like myself, elected by the people, to find a solution to our current problems. The congress is indeed partly to blame for the current crises, and although I had nothing to do with creating it personally as a member of Congress I must take some responsibility. We never intended to keep Final Destiny's absence a secret, as it is obvious to one and all that he isn't here.
"Now instead they messed up. But that was not the biggest problem. They could have said that that was just a mistake of one congressman. However the congressmen started blaming each other in the public arena creating a real chaos."
Completely agree with you here. I was one of the most vocal in attempting to restore order. However, it was people like the author of this particular peice of yellow paper journalism that continued to throw blame and insults rather than moving to a solution. http://forums.erepublik.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2774 see here for the worst of it.
Now I stand by my statement. What this represents isn't an official statement from congress, it is releasing part of the information early, without a complete story, in an attempt to release frustration. As such it is dangerous and irresponsible. Until congress is ready to release an official statement, which it will very shortly, we should not be taking matters into our own hands.
It is deeply ironic that Sara has accused the Commons of making the eUK a laughing stock. The Commons is uniting around a solution, whereas the above thread had to be locked to stop people like her continuing to childishly swap insults with the congressman at fault.
Iain
@Ian - are we not entitled to be angry and dissapointed?
The desire to stamp your feet and make a noise because you are angry and disappointed is reminiscent of the actions of children
The Commons has united, for the first time in ages, and we are trying to sort it out. Dan fellows (yes, I'll say his name) was out of order, and has left our country leaderless for the next week. The war wasn't unexpected, as a RG I received orders, and it had been talked about on the forums. Not to mention the fact that there was a newspaper article about it, various in fact. I know we live in a democratic country, and we can't stop you posting this, but please be careful about stirring things up. For example in WW2, the government united behind one strong leader, and yes, things like the freedom of the press was restricted, but do you really want the enemy knowing every single move we make? At a moment that makes us vulnerable , you should it out as loud as you can to the world.
I admire the fact that you have taken some responsibility and I hope to hear the same from other members of the congress, yet I am not convinced by your arguments. This information was dealt with publically meaning that it is not secret, therefore no one should be denied the right to comment on it. Disallowing it would be same as Gordon Brown banning British political scientists' reasearches because flaws of the regime that may be found may harm Great Britain in the international context. That is just nonsense.
The congress has made a huge mistake and it should be said loud and clear so that the congressmen learn a lesson and be more careful if such an event should ever occur again. Now we have a good chance to reagulate our actions and prepare for such occasions and I hope this will be done by the congress. Perhaps admins should also be contacted to discuss the idea of establishing a position of vice-president, since it still is just a game.
SaraDroz is just one congresswoman and it should be born in mind that she does not represent the whole congress. I as all other will be waiting for an official statement.
Sara Droz isn't in congress. My point was that this is fear-mongering and simply panders to our enemy. It is nothing like Gordon Brown banning criticism. It is more like a British Army official writing a letter to the press criticising the House of Commons. That doesn't happen in RL because the officer would be severely reprimanded for doing so.
It does nothing to resolve the situation, and merely causes panic. Let us do our jobs, and try and make the best of a situation which isn't our fault.
Or the more mature version is commonly known as "Protesting" which may morph to "Demonstrating", dependant on the strength of feeling at the proposed injustice.
"It is more like a British Army official writing a letter to the press criticising the House of Commons. That doesn't happen in RL because the officer would be severely reprimanded for doing so."
Well that is exactly happening now 🙂
*ahem Iain and others
@ Iain: for your earlier comment, would you then consider the Tiananmen Square protests and such similar events to be "reminiscent of the actions of children"?
I don't mean to go so over the top dramatic, but all those who disagree with Sara in her decision to publish this article are severely defying the behaviours of a democratic society.
All persons should have the right to stand for or against any such topic in debate.
And beyond this:
did the eUK government take sufficient action to restore things before this article was published?
I think not. Otherwise Sara would not have had the time to write it.
So huh, with that in mind, she has become a leader in amending the current crises, in bringing it to the eyes of all citizens.
Don't be jealous of her obviously innate leadership.
For isn't jealousy reminiscent of childish behaviour?
