Lower the minimum wage?
viper santa
Hi, i may be new to this...
And i may be killed for suggesting this.
But the economy IS crumbling.... and It's pretty obvious that buisnesses, especially low end ones, can't afford to pay their workers.
I myself own two buisnesses, neither of which can be self sufficient given the minimum wage, a low skilled worker just can not produce 1gbp worth of stock a day, it is impossible.
I also fail to see what low skill workers NEED 1gpd a day for!!! They can't fight after all, and cant jion the reserves, so don't need weapons, they don't need to go anywhere... they don't need to buy gifts.....
All you need is food right? so 40p a day, should cover that cost...
When you get higher up the skill ranking, employers will want you, and thus offer higher wages... but forceing employers to pay 1gbp a day is ridiculous in a system where a low skill worker makes 1 5th of a Q2 iron that will sell for 68p!!!
I applaud the small business association, who strive to support our struggeling buisnesses, but surely they are just going to end up pouring money into ventures bound to fail, if the buisness can never afford to pay it's workers.
Since starting my buisnesses, i have sunk money into trying to keep my workers employed, hoping they will become stronger and that the hard worker incentive will keep them working for me when they begin to make products close to or equal to what they earn!!!
I know I'm shit at finding the forums i need to, so if this disscussion is in progress can somebody please message me the link.
But am i alone in my thinking, that untill buisnesses can make money to invest, we can't have a working economy???

don't worry, they'll level up soon enough, just apply for a loan in the meantime
I doubt the Q1 weapons company will do well, no offence, but nobody uses Q1 weapons
i disagree,
The whole idea for a citizen getting more the 40p is so that he/she can buy more food because of low wellness.
40p may be a little harsh, as simple needs or not the new player still needs wellness. But for the most part, you're spot on I think. Most people who continually work raise themselves so far above the minimum, it'll just be a starting point. The only people who won't develop the skills will probably be inactives, and it won't make a blind bit of difference what wage they earn as they won't be working.
nooooo, i joined this around 1-2 weeks ago, I'm only now starting to get jobs that are over the minimun wage. All the companies cheat the new people by offering minimun wage and nothing more for as long as possible. You can even see minimun wage jobs for skill 6 at times! Its ridiculous! I've been slowly dying for ages now, I was on 30 wellness yesterday(I fought a battle in army if your wondering why it is so low). But I haven't been able to recover, I've just been getting lower and lower wllness. Luckily for me I've finally reached a skill level where people sometimes offer higher wages, and I managed to snatch a job for 4gbp a day, enough to buy high quality food and FINALLY recover. You lower the minimun wage and it'll lower throughout the whole job system!
So, I'm going to do some shameless advertising here, for an article I wrote:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/economic-policy-update-currency-revaluation-and-food-prices-703858/1
The lowest Q1 food price on the market, as of yesterday, was 0.44GBP. Q2 food prices were at 1.32GBP. This means that if a new player wants to do more to improve their wellness, without NHS support(as the orgs friend pages aren't working) they have to spend .32 more than they currently earn at minimum wage.
New players need at least Q2 food if they work and train everyday. £1 is enough for the 7 or 8 days they are below skill 2 I think.
If you're not happy with your job, you should contact other GM's and ask them if they want to hire you for a better wage. That's how I did anyway. but with the new f*cked up system (also known as V1) that has gotten a little more difficult but nevertheless still possible
The problem is that small buisneses can not produce products that will sell at cost, let alone profit for investment.
If the minimum wage were lower, lower grade foods would be cheaper, as labour costs would reduce, thus meaning that workers could still earn less and be happy, while buisnesses would be able to at least maintain themselves and later grow.
