Love and Revolution

Day 3,706, 02:16 Published in USA USA by MaryamQ

A long time ago, in an eWorld seemingly far, far away, people were invited to create a New World, one where things just might be different from the world we were living in. Almost from the beginning, some revolutionary types applied their creative energies to bringing forth a place where people of all races, nationalities and cultures could work together and all were believed to have great worth. It could be said that these were true revolutionaries, motivated by love.

Even longer than those true revolutionaries have been operating, there have been many who had a more limited vision, who could not imagine a world so radically different from the one they had always lived in, or a game where winning did not involve crushing others on their race to the top. Many old players have fond memories of early wars, alliances and political struggles, but the tension between Real World and New World also existed.

With what may be seen by some as a naive world view, revolutionaries set out to change things. They created cooperative groups without national boundaries, such as the World Tribe and Internationale. Leftist parties like SFP, and PCP in the eUK, experimented with communes long before they were widely used by military units. Programs were set up to nurture the young players. Players dedicated themselves to fighting resistance wars for those countries dominated by stronger neighbors.

Sometimes players scoff at those who play with love, but they never really defeat them. There are players who have given of their time and resources to help build others almost from their eBirth, near the beginning of the game. They may not be the strongest on the battlefield, although often they can hold their own there. They may not be rich economically speaking, but they are rich in friendships. They may not have great political power, but they are respected by those who know them, and their wisdom is recognized.

This is why I believe those who are spiteful, those who try to elevate themselves by tearing others down, and those who seek power without any real vision will ultimately fail. To those who have found the real key to winning this game, I salute you. Keep on doing what you are doing. The eWorld needs you. To those who really want change, remember:
