Looking for Meaning?

Work, train, fight.
Repeat
Is there no more?

I was once asked why are you here?
That person had learned that I had retired from the Army some four years ago.
Well, I miss the friendships.
The daily grind.
The mutual effort for a common purpose.
Mission, Vision and intention of the Commander.
Customs and Courtesies.

Fighting in wars, seeing the wall raising or getting knocked down.
Hollow alone, quiet, anticlimactic.
No battle cry, no cheers, jeers or the direction of superiors.
The crisp salute of a subordinate. Salute returned smartly.
The friendship of peers, who have lived in the trenches and toughened up with mutual effort.

Is there no more?
There most certainly is, its in the forums and the IRC channels.
Its in the halls of the e-military.

Just go through this Arch de Triumph:
