Life before and after for a noobie - why I'll be voting.
Grainne Ni Mhaille
Many players responded to my recent article to help out with everyday problems. Some of them asked me for advice on political matters. I told them truthfully that politics is a personal choice, and I would never presume to advise them. My way is to choose those whom offer similar views, strong leadership and a fun and supportive environment. For me, that was IUP.
Before I joined IUP I was homeless, skipped about between employers, couldn't get my wellness up above the 40ish mark, had no military experience and few friends. I was reticent to ask questions or speak out as I was sometimes derided and humiliated as I learnt about the game.(sounding familiar to any lurkers out there?)
Today, I am a home-owner, a proud Lieutenant in Division 3 of the IDF and have just returned from active service in Japan. I have a full inventory, a bunch of friends and contacts across the political spectrum, including a couple of country presidents. My wellness has never dropped below 92, I have two hard worker medals, a great boss and some gold in the bank.
Maybe that's no big shakes. But to me, it is. I'm no longer a two-clicker. In fact, RL seems like a MMOG that I play for 15 minutes a day as I'm so engrossed here. Sad but true.
I have had the opportunity to learn and grow in e-Ireland, which is close to my heart as I am RL Irish too. My military experience has taught me a thing or two about the futility of rash war aggression against powerful nations. I have had some heated debates about policy and positions, and I've contributed a thing or two to my party. I have no ambitions for congress, or ministerial roles, but I'm having a ball.
So anyone who's considering voting against Nith / Sev because they believe IUP are **insert your choice of negative slur here**, let me tell you from the inside that you are mistaken.
They are level-headed, smart, devoted to e-Ireland, and will give a new IUP member every support and encouragement. They are not, as we say in Ireland, "dry", in fact they each have a definite sense of humour, with a stong Irish accent! Their multi-lingual diplomacy has been an asset to our foreign affairs. I think they've done a great job. I'd like to see some continuity in Áras an Uachtaráin to build on existing international relations, and domestically, what's been achieved by all of the elected congressmen (or women).
A final word, I agree with what Scrabman said recently. This is a game. It has a set of mechanics that allow certain functionality and conditions for success. Do what you like with role play, but essentially you have to learn the game mechanics to create conditions of success. Nith knows this well. As do the strongest nations in the game. We can get there, but lulz cannot do it for us.
So that's me for the night. I'll be voting with a clear conscience tomorrow. I hope you will use your vote wisely, and get the leadership you feel you deserve.
And a couple of closing quotes for both candidates:
Anyone who has declared someone else to be an idiot, a bad apple, is annoyed when it turns out in the end that he isn't.
Nietzsche
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it.

Ádh mór ort!
And to the rest of you - OÃche mhaith agus codladh sámh.

Lol. Worst propaganda from the IUP I've seen yet.
No Manni, that's just my truth. What's yours?
"Propaganda is the dissemination of information aimed at influencing the opinions or behaviors of people. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda in its most basic sense, often presents information primarily in order to influence its audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or gives loaded messages in order to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda."
^ Exactly this article.
If you want truth, read the ICF articles. Not this half-baked propaganda. 😕
"Do what you like with role play, but essentially you have to learn the game mechanics to create conditions of success. Nith knows this well."
Nothing personal, but his hospital policy says otherwise
well said!
well said grainne i should clarify thanks to an oddly active comments section at one in the morning
Thank you for your speedy feedback gentlemen. Good to see you are all alive and well. I repeat:
"I hope you will use your vote wisely, and get the leadership you feel you deserve"
"I was reticent to ask questions or speak out as I was sometimes derided and humiliated as I learnt about the game."
Same old...
Fair play Gráinne, we'll agree to disagree though!

well said
Gráinne, it is your honesty, both in words and in actions, which sets you apart. You deserve every praise, regardless of political affiliation.
(PS I propose a blanket ignore on any comments a certain gentleman makes on all articles. It will mean less hassle.)
liked the article and i agree with sanctions..
guess no one does anything on a friday 😃
Its not "Propaganda", its Grainne Ni Mhaille's own personel reasons for casting her vote the way that she will, It certainly is not a IUP election Broadcast, she even says that she has no problem with starks and has praise for aran (both the ISRP candidates).
Surely the time has come to live & let live, respecting everyone's right to there own opinion and the right to voice it, we don't have to agree with them, but then again we don't have to relentlessly bombard them with ICF propaganda.
E-ireland would be a worse place if we all sung from the same hymn sheet, maybe its time to stop singing manni and actually read the words on the page.
Oh and after the votes are counted tomorrow and the person with the most votes wins, remember it dosn't always mean the best person for the job won.
But thats politics.
Very well said Grainne.
I agree with every word in the article expect for voting for Nith bit but I as you am quite ubcessed with this game but instead of having a Military life like you I prefer the Politics side of this game.
Good Article
@Manni: I've no idea how you would coin this propaganda
nice article grannie. you are a valuable asset to ireland, even if people in different political parties don't think so
I found that article very moving and well wrote.
sorry but I have to put the next part in even though it profanes this article. sorry
@Manni
Are you honestly 15. I have heard more maturity from a 10 year old. The last time I heard someone that sounded like you was four.
There is more excrement in the ICF articles then in a pile of excrement. Just don't ask how that works it just does.
Nice article Grainne, truthful and from the heart.. unlike many out there.
Great article. I find the same things were true for me before joining the IUP. 🙂
@Nogin
Perfectly said!
Never a truer word was spoken grainne!
Its a peronal article of her life in erep the propaganda doesnt have to be perefect its showing the way she was before she started the game and then become rich its simple to understand. Good article Vote Starks for change, NOW ! today 😉
Well done!
Excellent article; I agree with every word.
Another great article from Grainne.
"Before I joined IUP"
How would you know what the other party's could have offered if you were only ever in the IUP.
I am fairly sure that any of the political parties would offer the same kind of support as the IUP granted you.
@Teut, fair point. "Before I joined IUP" was just pinpointing when I experienced real change.
No, I don't actually know what the other parties offer to support noobs beyond their public postings; and neither have I guessed at their performance, or commented upon it negatively.
I simply stated my own experience. The help I was offered came primarily from IUP members, hence my later decision to join them.
What does your party offer? It may benefit others reading this too.
I am fairly sure that any other political parties could motivate one of their own members to share their experiences in their own newspaper too.
ow ow ow, I wish I could vote. O well 🙂
Nice article.
