Life before and after for a noobie - why I'll be voting.

Day 562, 17:00 Published in Ireland Cyprus by Grainne Ni Mhaille
I'm voting today, and obviously it's for Nith /Sev. I've no problem with Starks, in fact I hardly know him at all. Aran has been great in my IDF experience.

Many players responded to my recent article to help out with everyday problems. Some of them asked me for advice on political matters. I told them truthfully that politics is a personal choice, and I would never presume to advise them. My way is to choose those whom offer similar views, strong leadership and a fun and supportive environment. For me, that was IUP.

Before I joined IUP I was homeless, skipped about between employers, couldn't get my wellness up above the 40ish mark, had no military experience and few friends. I was reticent to ask questions or speak out as I was sometimes derided and humiliated as I learnt about the game.(sounding familiar to any lurkers out there?)

Today, I am a home-owner, a proud Lieutenant in Division 3 of the IDF and have just returned from active service in Japan. I have a full inventory, a bunch of friends and contacts across the political spectrum, including a couple of country presidents. My wellness has never dropped below 92, I have two hard worker medals, a great boss and some gold in the bank.

Maybe that's no big shakes. But to me, it is. I'm no longer a two-clicker. In fact, RL seems like a MMOG that I play for 15 minutes a day as I'm so engrossed here. Sad but true.

I have had the opportunity to learn and grow in e-Ireland, which is close to my heart as I am RL Irish too. My military experience has taught me a thing or two about the futility of rash war aggression against powerful nations. I have had some heated debates about policy and positions, and I've contributed a thing or two to my party. I have no ambitions for congress, or ministerial roles, but I'm having a ball.

So anyone who's considering voting against Nith / Sev because they believe IUP are **insert your choice of negative slur here**, let me tell you from the inside that you are mistaken.

They are level-headed, smart, devoted to e-Ireland, and will give a new IUP member every support and encouragement. They are not, as we say in Ireland, "dry", in fact they each have a definite sense of humour, with a stong Irish accent! Their multi-lingual diplomacy has been an asset to our foreign affairs. I think they've done a great job. I'd like to see some continuity in Áras an Uachtaráin to build on existing international relations, and domestically, what's been achieved by all of the elected congressmen (or women).

A final word, I agree with what Scrabman said recently. This is a game. It has a set of mechanics that allow certain functionality and conditions for success. Do what you like with role play, but essentially you have to learn the game mechanics to create conditions of success. Nith knows this well. As do the strongest nations in the game. We can get there, but lulz cannot do it for us.

So that's me for the night. I'll be voting with a clear conscience tomorrow. I hope you will use your vote wisely, and get the leadership you feel you deserve.

And a couple of closing quotes for both candidates:

Anyone who has declared someone else to be an idiot, a bad apple, is annoyed when it turns out in the end that he isn't.
Nietzsche

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it.
W.C. Fields

Ádh mór ort!

And to the rest of you - Oíche mhaith agus codladh sámh.
