Lies, broken promises, old man kisses

Why was a ceasefire called?

France let the UK cabinet know that it was fighting an allegedly Polish-backed PTO. As most of you will realise, one single planted congressman is all it takes for a PTO to get rolling, so a threatened country must run a watertight ATO campaign if it hopes to keep its congress secure. There is no room for error when facing a country of Poland’s size and PTOing experience. To shut hostile congressmen out, it is essential to know the number of regions your country will hold at the time of the election’s end so that party presidents can place suitable candidates and sufficient blocking candidates in each region. With the retreat/attack method of fighting in V2 meaning regions swap hands more often, the 3 combatant countries agreed that the decent thing to do would be to stop the war while France secured its congress. The eUK and eCan could also focus on their elections for the brief period of truce. That’s it. Any fool can see that we were back on the offensive in eUK: it was not to save our skins that we asked for hostilities to end, it was to help eFrance.

What went wrong?

Somewhere between making the agreement with our acting CP (it was jamesw you spoke to Acacia, not John Bartlett, but it is now painfully obvious that you weren’t paying the slightest attention), Acacia blithely fudged details and proclaimed, in a schmaltzy article, that we had a peace declaration for the 24th and 25th of the month. That wasn’t exactly what was agreed, but I assumed Acacia was simplifying for his public address. I have seen the logs of the conversation, and jamesw made it clear that the agreement was that no battles should end on the 24th and the 25th. Not only this, but jamesw made Acacia aware on the 25th that the ceasefire was coming to an end. At this point it was evident that Acacia really isn’t what you’d call a details man, but until this morning I had no idea he was a downright liar. Nice guy, good sense of humour, great for a toothless smooch in the dark; but a shameless, self-aggrandizing liar. Not only are the relevant private chat logs available for all to see on our forum, but I myself witnessed Acacia acknowledge in #eCan the terms of the ceasefire, and have added those to the relevant thread. Can be found here.

Amazingly, Acacia then used our (by his own previous admission) legitimate attack on one of our own regions to justify freezing eFrance’s assets and launching another attack on one of their home regions. Sorry, what? Just come out and say it, you enjoy pushing the button, you don’t care about the financial or long term strategic costs, and you let yourself be baited by our idiot trolls.

Stop lying

Acacia, and eCanada at large, if you want us to continue to be your bad guys in the game, that is fine. I don’t like it, but it is your decision. Keep electing people like Acacia who will troll us and push buttons to attack us. But don’t sit there lying about how evil and traitorous we are, and circle jerking at how righteous and just you are. Don’t forget that it is you who are in our regions, you who are spending the cash to attack and occupy what is ours, you who are being lied to by a self-interested CP.

Think, what do I get from lying to you? What do I have to lose? What does Acacia get from lying to you? What does he have to lose?

Yours,
Thatcher
