Libertarian Party programme - join today!

Day 732, 04:25 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Libertarian Party Organisation

Times seem hard for our union at the moment, but life must go on - and New Liberty asks you to remember that now is the time that parties determine their congress candidates. New Liberty and the Libertarian Party will not pretend that we are not in a contest. We are fighting to gain entry into the top five parties, allowing us representation in congress, and the party needs members. But the Libertarian Party is the party for the people and by the people – join up, help make the party’s principles, and whilst you help this party, this party will help you.

These are our fundamental principles, but as with everything else in the party, you can work to change them. The Libertarian Party is a society, and its president is just the first amongst equals.

1. A commitment to democracy. The Libertarian Party is only the sum of its members, and we make all the important decisions together, on the forum. Any member can be a part of this process – ask our active members.

2. Liberty at home. All peoples have the right to self-determination, and the Libertarian Party is committed to defending that right. The party is against unfair congressional procedures, as may have happened in the recent PEACE charter vote. The LP opposes, and always will oppose the illegitimate occupation of Flanders and Brussels.

3. Liberty abroad. This party will offer support to foreign groups fighting to free themselves from occupation, and is currently exploring possibilities, including India’s fight against Indonesia to regain their rightful territory.

4. Support for the common people. The Libertarian Party will support low skill workers by supplementing their incomes, and we will support new businesses with some funds, both pending discussion with the party.

5. The Libertarian Party has a continuing commitment to cutting back on state companies and state involvement in the economy. The party currently proposes that state-provided training stop at skill level five – over this level workers can work in the private sector. The Libertarian Party believes that it is not the state’s job to compete with the private sector.

These are some of our basic principles, with examples of how they are being put into practice. The Libertarian Party is a party that will never be afraid to be controversial, and will always defend the freedom of the common people, no matter how big their opponent. We need members and we need you – remember that the Libertarian Party is the party for the people and by the people!
