Lets open this game up : Shipping Fees

Day 4,224, 03:00 Published in Ireland Ireland by Releasethe Krakken
Background

Schlep defined in the yiddish language -:- to drag or haul (an object); to make a tedious journey (from Yiddish שלעפּן shlepn and German schleppen) : (and incorporated in the english language ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yiddish_words_used_in_English)

Basically a schlep is what you get when you buy say a canoe and daily have to schlep the canoe onto your car and drive to the river/dam or sea and then schlep it back and store it somewhere on a wall or something or in your rafters or under your house or in your property somewhere. It is a tedious task often repeated and mostly will put you off activities that is fun or enjoyable. Schlep is basically why one stops doing things or that part of an activity that is not enjoyable.

Current Game Mechanics

One such feature is buying stuff on a foreign market.

Lets say today I want to buy House Raw Materials and is in my residence in Mayo, Ireland. The only market available to me if the region where my residence is situated in is not occupied is the market of my country of citizenship : Ireland.

However said market does not contain HRM so I have to travel to a market that does . Today I traveled to Greece and bought there 166 HRM.

One have to physically travel to an area to buy products in its market(by way of mouse click) The Schlep. One cannot compare markets against other markets for the cheapest offer without opening up each of those markets separately. More Schlep. One then have to travel back to your residence to protect your resident bonuses : SCHLEP COMPOUNDED.

Cutting out the schlep

1. Introduce a world market view. All offers in all markets is available to all
buyers.
2. Introduce shipping fees. If I'm in Ireland and I need to buy something from a US Holding company on the world market. To the side of the offers will be a shipping fee label if i click on it the program draws the shipping fee based on travel back and forward to that region manually. Or if that would be too complicated to implement a standard fee is added to all offers outside of your region. Whatever would be the easiest to implement for the admins.

Trading Embargoes / Countries with no regions

Your available offers will filter out offers which you cant normally buy. If a country has no region normal travel to it wont be possible so algorithm that pulls offers will filter it out and as well all offers where trading embargoes will hamper you from buying in the region.

Will this affect your own country's market

No although you will have to compete against a world market but because your own country never have shipping fees if their taxing is competitive then you should be able to buy the lowest offers from your own market.

In essence if for example a country have high work taxes its offers might be higher than those of other countries and the offer wont be the lowest offer in the world view for a product.

Where does the shipping fee goes ?

Currently travelling to a region to buy in a foreign market means losing a small amount of money that basically is absorbed into the game. But to increase economic competition we can add these fees to a country.

Why this will open up the game

In today's world you have products that have in some cases parts that comes from all the continents of the world for example your cellphone. If you want to buy something and perhaps don't life in a big city or even if you life in a big city it is sometimes just more convenient to buy it online and have it shipped to you.

If we remove the part where you travel to buy. One immediately creates a global market and every available offer is available to all players.

This will reduce clicking. One of the reasons I liked this game from the start as it eliminated and kept on eliminating clicking. Eliminating clicking means less traffic on your server as each click in a program is normally handled.
