Let's hear that song one more time!
Randall Flagg 1999
Here we go for round two! It has been an interesting month to be a congressman. Between the Swedish invasion and the several impeachment votes, I can easily say that those of us in congress were quite busy. To show how busy we were I compiled a list of all the proposals that I have voted on so that those interested can see concretely what I stand for instead of just taking my word for it. I have often stressed my commitment to proposals that protect eCanada’s military and economic interests, and I believe my record shows just that. For ease of reading I will divide the proposals into sections so one can view what they are interested in; I will also provide commentary with each section.
Alliances:
I strongly believe that eCanada must be a strong nation capable of standing on our own two feet, but as the events of the past few weeks have shown us, allies can be a valuable asset in defending our interests. To this end I am open to almost any offer of mutual friendship by another power. While I do not wish to hurtle headlong into the arms of old enemy’s I do concede that times do change and as a result we must bend with the times or break.
Alliance Croatia- Yes Alliance Paraguay – Yes Alliance Ireland – Yes
Alliance Israel – Yes Alliance Norway – Yes Alliance Greece – Yes
Alliance Brazil - Yes Alliance Australia – Yes Alliance France – Yes
Alliance USA – Yes Alliance Portugal – Yes Alliance Chile – Yes
Alliance Russia – Yes
Taxes:
In an attempt to increase the value of the CAD in relation to gold congress decided to make it harder for foreign countries to form and sell companies on our soil, thus devaluing the CAD. By increasing the import taxes, we have seen improvement in what we can get in gold for our CAD. I will also point out that I proposed the Increase in Weapon imports.
Increase Weapon Material Import tax to 99% - Yes
Increase Food Material import tax to 99% - Yes
Increase Weapon import tax to 99% - Yes
Increase Food import tax to 99% - Yes
Transfers:
I do not need to explain the importance of the government’s role in distributing funds to the major organs of our country. Especially given the recent invasion, a massive premium has been put on military funding.
Transfer 99999 CAD to National Defence – Yes x8
Transfer 79327 CAD to National Defence – Yes x2
Transfer 26250 CAD to Ministry of Finance - Yes
Other:
I will explain these individually.
Sweden as National Enemy – Yes
Trading Embargo UK – Yes
Impeach Rolo (1st time) – No
Impeach Rolo (2nd time) – Yes
USA as Natural Enemy – No
Impeach Kazuo – Yes
That’s all folks!
I look forward to the election, especially after the thrill of the last one! As last time, I stand by my convictions, and am as open as possible with what is on my mind or bugging me. The result is that I look forward to being able to represent eCanadians again and being able to enact legislation that will allow us to continue to strengthen eCanada.

Not every day that a candidate openly admits their shortfalls. Hoo-ah!
Reminds me of what Etemenanki used to present, except I was able to read yours in one sitting : D
"USA as Natural Enemy – No
We're moving into the US to block the Polish advance. It was a tactical move.
It may be tactical, but it does not sit well with me to declare them an enemy. It may make it easier to gain a bit of influence, but it is just as easy to have them not show up to those fights, and focus instead on attacking Polish held areas.
We have NE'd eUSA at least once in the past couple of months. Jacobi and Emerick pulled the same move in April.
I think you need to learn a few more things about game mechanics before you form too many opinions about things involving the war module and terms such as "Natural Enemy"
^ Yes, but someone has to take the time to explain the reasons why it is in everyone's, including the eUS's best interests, especially to obviously intelligent, well-meaning and totally involved players like RF1999, not to mention all of the new players. Think of the babies!!
@ Randall Flagg 1999, Your name is very long. 😛😛 That aside, your presentation and writing style are reminiscent of Etemenanki's and much appreciated. Kudos. o/
@Stelawrat - The problem with providing everyone with the information is how do you go about doing it, while keeping the details from reaching the enemy. It simply would not be possible to provide everyone with information in the form of an article or comments.
Ideally, anyone with questions regarding what the government is doing should contact someone in a more private way such as through a PM either in-game or on the forums. I think the point to be made here is that as a member of Congress RF1999 should have taken the time to simply ask Muglack why me proposed such an action prior to voting 'NO'.
But other than that, a well-written article.
Wally: It's usually pretty clear to the enemy what is going on when you put the proposal forward to congress in game. The enemy is not stupid and can quite easily extrapolate what is going on. You can also put it in the Closed Door forums, which should remain top secret. In short, it's not terribly hard to inform congress of what the general plan is.
Plugson: Bah! (short enough for you?)
Stelawrat: Once I get back into congress I plan on starting back up my articles of this nature, so no fear, your cure for insomnia will come again!
A good read, and I am indeed glad to see someone else besides myself view something such as this as a neccesary part of the job of being an elected official. Keep it up!
In my defense, there wasn't even a area of debate on the forums for making the USA a natural enemy. I admit, I don't often post on the forums myself, but I do read them over to see what the mood of my fellow congressmen are.

in this case Randell there just was no time for debate it had to be done immediately. I'm sure someone will give you a full explaination but sometimes stuff is done under the reliance of experienced players for speed. The pressure was there.
Its like when Maverick and goose feel the need for speed
Bit of a crude way of explanation but, nevertheless:
"The main story is in fact Canada and their natural enemy proposal on the US. Now I personally believe this is once again Canada being USA’s b*tch and are attacking them so when USA are inevitably wiped off the map, USA can just RW their Canadian-owned regions giving them a free ticket back on the map. Of course this will once again spread damage and Canada will ultimately be destroyed by Sweden as not only will Canada be spreading two-clicker damage but will also lose a lot of MPPs, if not all of them."
From Gambit Lowdown's article: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-68-usa-now-have-five-fronts--1803712/1/20
Did Randall make an uninformed vote? Yes.
Is it sometimes necessary to "declare war" on allies because of game mechanics? Yes.
Should it still be the duty of the government to inform Canadians in due course? Absolutely.
Some of us understand these moves because we're old farts and we know the options before us. To others, especially those not deep in the know, it can be confusing and disheartening to see Canada "at war" with yet another nation.
It is the duty of the government to communicate with its citizens. Immediate actions can be taken, but a post explaining this would take very little time and could be done right after it went through. Voters should not have to hunt down their representatives to know what's going on.
To quote Sperry from most of his articles. "Kittens" and "Turnips" I think that speaks for itself.
Amendments: Another two votes for Transferring 99999 CAD to National Defense - Yes
