Lessons I've learnt #1 - Knowledge is power

Day 1,141, 19:13 Published in Ireland Ireland by Digits 05637716

Evenin' Ireland! Look at me in the news again, who'da thunk it? For those who don't know me, I used to play this game before, for quite some time I think 😛 So to give something back, I've decided to share my experience with you through a series of short informative articles called "Lessons I've learnt" culminating in a fictional run for Presidency in March 2011! You will undoubtedly say how I'm generally just stating the bleeding obvious, but funnily enough, sometimes it needs to be stated.

So, on to the main show! Knowledge in eRepublik is definitely power. People talk about seizing power, and the establishment and government positions, but it's all nonsense. How well you play the game and how much you succeed in the game is 70% down to what you have learned and continue to learn about the game.

This not only means you have an understanding of the game mechanics, but of the different ways they can be manipulated and innovated with to achieve your needs. However, your knowledge cannot just rest in one area of the game, because as will probably become apparent to you, the entire game is integrated, and any success will require joined up thinking. The best idea should win.

It also means how much you have learned about your friends and opponents in this eWorld. Everywhere, alliances are being formed, schemes are being hatched and agendas being brought forward, and if you don't know who, how and why, then you are 1 step behind. You need to see the big picture, and the only way to do that is to look for it (some would say through any means necessary 😛)

Knowledge also comes down to how much you know about yourself. Do you know that you have what it takes to plan your success, go for it and achieve it? If you don't know this, it will soon become apparent whether you do or not. Knowing it beforehand will make failure less likely, and success more likely.

There's no winning this game. Just learning.

Till next time,
