Greetings, fellow citizens.

My name is Leo Ruby, and I am proud to announce that I am running for your congressman. I only moved to the Czech Republic a few months ago, but have followed your affairs, and finally decided to move here. Now, though, let’s get down to why I’m running, what I’ve done, and what I stand for.

Why am I running?

I’m running because I think the Czech Republic is at an important time in its history, a turning point so to speak, and I want to be part of the history. As it is, we are sitting on a razor blade, and if we move the wrong way (either to close to Phoenix or too close to EDEN) we will find ourselves cut up into little pieces. It will require tact, diplomacy, and some other stuff I can't remember, to get out of this one.

What will I do?

Well, I have several ideas, which I will break down into segments, but here’s a short summary:

1. Support Czech Investment Fund
2. Create health service for new citizens
3. Oppose joining Czechoslovakia until current events calm down.
4. Oppose joining EDEN or Phoenix; support staying neutral and/or joining Sol.
5. Oppose Vit Ruzika’s plan to make Czech Republic a “protectorate.”

Economy and Population
I agree with Frank Zafka’s proposal to create a Czech Investment Fund, and encourage all Czech citizens to invest in it, no matter how little. The details of this can be found HERE. In addition to this, I would recommend that create a national health service. This would be funded through the treasury, and would work in tandem with Mr. Zafka’s plan by raising the health of new citizens and making them more productive, which will speed up the process of paying back investors and aid the economy. Also, depending on the resource, it might be a good idea to sell already crowded industries in other nations so as not to undercut businesses but still be able to turn a profit.

Transparency and Government

I will fill you in on every vote I make for each proposal, and by this you can gauge my performance.

Secondly, we need to link all proposed laws to a discussion area on the forum, at least so we know why we are voting. This is done by most other countries in the world today, and greatly aids the legislative process. I have seen trade embargoes, tax increases, and everything else but the kitchen sink put up for vote, without a single discussion link. The embargo had a link, but only to "theyareaplanningapto.com"

Military and Foreign Affairs (in particular, PEACE, EDEN, and Czechoslovakia)

Let me be plain: I oppose joining PEACE, EDEN, or unification with Slovakia. Why? Slovakia is using us, to aid EDEN’s advance in Hungary, and we weren’t even asked if we’d like to help. Indeed, we weren’t even informed there was anything to help about. Now, given what EDEN has done to us (stealing our land, cutting of all communications, using us as a bridge between colossi), it might make sense to join Phoenix. I disagree. When Lithuania first started, Hungarians quickly moved in, PTOed our congress, and stole all our GOLD, and completely ignored us except for saying it was “for our protection.” Only after did they reveal they were protecting us from a Romanian PTO, and returned all our gold, give or take several hundred. This is only one example, and there are many more; what is the solution? We, the small, neutral nations must unite to protect ourselves, and to this extent I support the joining of Sol. Sol is composed of 7 other small nations, and while they would not be able to provide much military or political support, it would help some, and our joining might convince other neutral Europeans to join as well.

Vit Ruzika, Impeachment, and the "Protectorate"

Let me be frank:
Vit Ruzika is using us like jockstrap to carry his personal ambitions and the ambitions of EDEN.

To quote:
“well... we are thinking of making CZ a protectorate in Czechoslovakia. That would mean we would only keep 10 congressmen to avoid PTO exploitation... in reality, these two regions arent worth much to us... our economy is effectively destroyed...”

Our economy is destroyed because our regions keep being stolen by other countries! I personally would rather risk a PTO than be a protectorate of the other country…what’s the difference? We already have most of our regions taken away on a whim. Last month, Vit accused practically every anti-Unificationist in the Czech Republic of being a Phoenix spy, and now he’s trying to be nice to everyone. That said, I do not think an impeachment attempt would do much, as several others have already been tried. Instead, we must unite to condemn this behavior and let Vit know that we, the representatives of the Czechs, will not stand by and watch it happen.
