Land Salaries Soar, Construction Salaries are Total Crap
Ansen
I noticed something curious today, as I looked through Human Resources to see what jobs/salaries were available for my industry (which is construction). The construction industry pays their workers wayyyy less than other industries, especially land.
The following is a list of top end salaries for each skill level. To defray the impact of rogue employers messing up comparisons with outrageously high salary offers, the dollar figures for each of the following was arrived at by taking the average of the top four (when available) paying jobs available in each discipline.
Skill: 0 - 0.99
1. Manufacturing: $2.95
2. Lan😛
$2.86
3. Construction: $1.36
Skill: 1 - 1.99
1. Lan😛
$5.66
2. Manufacturing: $3.58
3. Construction: $3.19
Skill: 2 - 2.99
1. Lan😛
$11.88
2. Manufacturing: $7.28
3. Construction: $5.67 (only 3 job offers available, so only 3 averaged)
Skill: 3 - 3.99
1. Lan😛
$18.52
2. Manufacturing: $7.28
3. Construction: $7.85 (only 3 job offers available, so only 3 averaged)
Skill: 4 - 4.99
1. Lan😛
$29.90
2. Manufacturing: $24.00
3. Construction: $13.07
Skill: 5 - 5.99
1. Lan😛
$40.09
2. Manufacturing: $31.51
3. Construction: $26.08
Skill: 6 - 6.99
1. Manufacturing: $43.09
2. Lan😛
$42.78
3. Construction: $31.50
Skill: 7+
1. Lan😛
$60.59
2. Manufacturing: $54.00
3. Construction: $40.55
Construction industry wages are lowest all across the board - and by atrocious amounts. For example, wages for skill level 4 workers in the construction industry are, on average, $16.83 less than in the land industry. Even the manufacturing industry is $11 per day higher. Land employees of skill level five can expect to make around the same amount of money as a level 7 construction worker.
Because the job market is basically a bidding war between companies for employees, the construction industry may have a hard time attracting new employees. Up and coming workers who are working on raising their skill levels will most likely be attracted to the land industry, where they can earn much more per day.
For those of you like me who have already invested heavily into your construction skill...you may just be out of luck...

Good story, thanks for doing the research.
One thing you have to realize is, Land will be higher wages for the same skill, partly because it's not as developed overall. The highest land skill is probably approaching 5 now (not sure if anyone has reached it yet or not), while there are people with over 10 in manufacturing/construction
I noticed this with my wood company! In the past week land companies keep posting higher wages in Human Resources and it's killing me because my employees of course will leave for that higher paying job and then I have to post a higher wage to keep up with that.
@qn20
While you make a good point, the construction industry is also well behind the manufacturing industry on most levels.
@kyneff
Don't really have any stats to back this up, but it did seem that wood was the most competitive of anything I saw.
@Ogdensign
You could always get a new job then...
Hmm according to your figures I am underpaid. I am not dissatisfied with my job mind you and I don't work in the wood industry but I make significantly less than your figures indicate. Perhaps this is just because the market rewards highly skilled new hires.
Just modified it... And yes I could. But like I said I am not unhappy. Just putting in my "2cents" as one who works in the field mentioned. I also have a question. Do you think this is largely driven by the wood industry here in America? With my admittedly limited experience and knowledge it seems that this is America's strongest suit and therefore may naturally be the most developed, fastest growing and profitable sector of our economy. Is this an accurate take on things or am I missing out on something?
Ansen, I have noticed your information to be true for a while. It is very frustrating too. I reached level 4 in constructions a few days ago. If I swtiched to land I'd be a level 1 and can't afford to make nothing compared to the crap salary I have now. It sux 🙁 Still considering it though, will have to break out the experience calculator and see how long I'll be hurting...
No problem. I wish they had an edit button for comments.
I think you're right. It does indeed seem that wood is driving the land wages up significantly. For example, 11 of the 12 highest paying jobs for lvl 4 workers are wood. (http://www.erepublik.com/en/human-resources/country-24-domain-all-skill-5)
Yeah Don, I was thinking of doing the same thing. The crazy thing is, as a lvl 2 land worker, we'd only be making around $1.20 less than as a lvl 4 construction worker.
Good article, FYI: Land at Skill 2 is down to $8.50 highest pay!
Haha...things get out of date fast...
