Join the new world

...is Spanish for The War, for those not in the know. Now, onto the article.

I support the war, and not just because I am a soldier. I do not have to support a war to fight in it. I do as I am ordered. There are more reasons to fight this war than just for the economy, to save the Mexicans from the Polish (I almost hope that this one is true), or as so many love to put it, for the lulz.
ATLANTIS and PEACE GC both have some members that are heavily imperialist, and due to this, both alliances are seen as imperialist. There is no escaping that. This is not an excuse, merely a statement. As long as people play this game, there will be players that see the worst excesses of the RL US bleeding into the actions of the eUS, as if this is the concentration of our evils. This is a silly idea, but it will continue to exist. This is not an excuse either, saying that we should go to war because we can't change the New World's opinion of us. We can affect it, for better or for worse.
One way this is affected is by who we fight. As other's have said, all we seem to do is react. Someone else in ATLANTIS declares war, we fight alongside them. PEACE GC, especially Indonesia, Iran, or Pakistan, attacks a random country, we sign up to fight them. In those cases, it is nothing but a series of proxy wars, and waiting. We cannot take Indonesia head on, due to geography. So we sign up with countries that can fight them. What does Indonesia do? Declare war, then wait, for a few months, waiting until we are distracted, like Argentina. Then they attack. I would hate to see that happen again in India. Until then, I will assume that Indonesia has decided that it is more fun to seem tough than do anything.
And now, we have tired of reacting. We have made our choice, a choice that has upset balances everywhere, including ours. Perhaps this war with Mexico will resemble that of the one with Canada: we declare war, but due to bugs on both sides, our progress is delayed until the other side has a distinct advantage, or the ratio is less biased towards us. (If I am drawing incorrect conclusions about the USA-Canada War, it is because I am a V1 baby, and have to rely on the wiki and other players for information.)
Perhaps Mexico will be crushed.
Only time will tell.
