Know Your Enemy (Editorial)

Day 615, 03:39 Published in USA USA by PimpDollaz

This is an editorial piece. Meant as a counterfoil to the myriad of noobish articles that clutter the top 5 latest news and prevent really good journalism from reaching the masses. It is only my opinion, but something I felt was worth writing, and thus, sharing. It probably won’t be around long enough given the amount of useless redundancy out there, but I offer it regardless.

Today might very well have been the most decisive day of fighting so far on this continent, as we had Alberta just falling into enemy hands, leaving eCanada with just one Q5 hospital remaining. Ontario is surrounded by a sea of invaders, and will no doubt be attacked in the very near future.

Similarly, in the eUS, if Kansas is overrun, Americans would have to fall back to the east coast and would only have 2 hospitals of quality 5 left. More concerning though, California has fallen to Indonesia, and now they have a very strong foothold to go with the Russian presence in the West. As the Portuguese are already in Georgia, right next to one of the Q5 hospitals in Florida, the American psyche is taking a beating, not to mention the large population and large number of companies that are now technically on enemy soil in both of these nations.

Despite all of this, eHungary is the principal driving force behind the PEACE plans for global domination. Every other nation is more or less mere support puppets to the cause. Even eIndonesia is not as well developed economically as their bigger, goonier Hungarian allies. We still make fun of them immensely, especially yours truly, but I will be the first to admit they are running an incredibly successful, well-disciplined campaign.

A lot of people on this continent are just two click players, but there is nothing wrong with that. Some people just play this game for fun, or are too busy with their lives to figure out everything about this game. It’s nothing we should get bent out of shape over. There are those who simply wish to have a temporary diversion after a hard day of work, or might just be interested in running a company and testing their business skills. Still others are pacifists and abhor the idea of conflict, whether it is real or not. That’s cool, too and they shouldn’t be made to feel guilty for not doing something they don’t want to do.

The Hungarians, on the other hand, have got this game mastered and are very serious about what they do. They have spent massive amounts of gold from their treasury to issue currency and have also tapped their foreign currency holdings to finance their ambitions. If they don’t bring the war to a close soon, they will run out of money. (or perhaps we will) But their dedication doesn’t stop there. They are better at communicating with each other, sending PM’s to everybody on their party lists to give them detailed instructions, times to meet on IRC, and even surveys on how the government is doing – all to the common folk, right in their mailboxes. Nothing of the sort gets done here

Now, why do they do all of this, you ask? Well, I don’t know. My main thought is that they are trying to pay the eUS back for supporting the Romanian TO in the very early days of this game. I wasn’t playing back then, so I could be wrong about the facts there. Now that they have rebuilt, and are quite strong, it’s payback time. Maybe they have nothing better to do, as this article may attest to: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/a-piece-of-cake1-872126/1/20

Here in North America, we have endless mountains to go hiking in, numerous parks to go camping in, miles of beach to go swimming or surfing, and lots of big lakes to fish in. It’s what we do as a society that is spoiled with having a superior geographic layout, something that is not present as much over there. (yes, I’ve been to Hungary in real life, a long time ago so I know how the two compare in the physical sense) Perhaps gaming figures more prominently in their society nowadays, I don’t know.

Who knows what eLife would be like if they ran the show. Now don’t get me wrong, we can still win this yet, but if we are to win, it won’t be because we are continuing to do what we are doing now. Maybe this game is just point, counterpoint, and later on down the road we will be conquering their lands again. It remains to been seen. For now let’s just do what we can and have fun with it. It’s just a game, and a lot of people would argue a silly one at that. If we win, we win and if we lose, we lose. But despite what happens, I would hope that people on both sides can at least be intelligent enough to know their enemies.

And now some good music for my exitus:
