Join the new world

אנחנו כבר נכנסים לתקופת הבחירות לכנסת. מחר תינעל רשימת המועמדים, וביום שני ייערכו הבחירות. ביום שלישי תקום כנסת חדשה בישראל.

אני נרשמתי למשחק לפני ארבעה חודשים, יום לפני הבחירות לכנסת. אז עדיין לא התמודדתי - גם לא יכולתי להתמודד. בבחירות הבאות, במרץ, אכן התמודדתי, אך באופן טבעי לא נבחרתי. באפריל זכיתי לשלושה קולות, אך עקפו אותי בלילה; ובמאי עקפו אותי שוב.

מה גרם לי להפסיד בכל הפעמים הללו? אני תמיד הבטחתי הבטחות - כמו כולם. דיברתי על מה שהמדינה יכולה לעשות בשביל לשפר את הכלכלה, על הקשרים הבינלאומיים שלנו, על כנסת פעילה ואפילו על צה"ל. לפני חודש אמרתי גם שהתחלתי לא רק לדבר, אלא גם לעשות - התחלתי להשתתף בישיבות פתוחות ולדון בנושאים כמו צה"ל והחוקה.

אבל החודש אני יכול להגיד שאני כבר מבין מה המשמעות של להיות חבר פעיל בקהילה האי-ישראלית. אני לא יכול לעשות הכול, לא בו-זמנית, ואני לא אגיד שאני יכול. אני יכול לעשות קצת בכל פעם. בחודש שעבר פעלתי למען החוקה, והתקדמנו הרבה. כאשר הפעילות בנושא החוקה נעשתה פחות משמעותית, עקב סכסוכים והאווירה הכללית בקהילה, עברתי להיות פעיל בתחומים אחרים, וכעת אני מפקד על יחידה 2 של צה"ל. ואם תצביעו לי בבחירות הקרובות לכנסת, אם תאמינו שאני יכול לתרום - אני אצליח לתרום. אני אמשיך לעזור בצה"ל ולייצב את הארגון החדש-ישן הזה. אני אמשיך להיות פעיל בחברה, לנהל דיונים, להיאבק בשביל התוצאה הטובה ביותר. אפעל לשיתוף פעולה בין הקבוצות השונות במדינה - בין המפלגות ובין היחידות הצבאיות. אני לא יכול להבטיח לכם בייבי בום, כי זה לא מה שאני מבין בו. אבל אני יכול להבטיח להמשיך לתרום לשיתוף הפעולה במדינה, להתפתחות הפנימית שלה לקראת היותה מדינה חזקה יותר, להגברת הדיונים והתקשורת - כי אלו מאפשרים לנו לעשות את המהלכים הטובים ביותר, בין אם במלחמה או בשלום, בכלכלה או במדיניות החוץ. ואני יכול גם לקיים.

ביום שני תוכלו למצוא אותי רץ לכנסת מטעם מפלגת Free Volunteers Party באל-ג'אוף. אני מקווה שתצביעו לי, כדי שאוכל לא רק להבטיח, אלא גם לקיים.


We're already getting into another Knesset elections period. Tomorrow the list of candidates will become final, and on Monday we will all vote in the elections. On Tuesday, a new Israeli Knesset will rise.
I signed up to the game four months ago, just one day before the Knesset elections. I didn't run yet – I couldn't, either. In the next elections, in March, I was a candidate, but naturally, I wasn't elected. In April I got three votes, but someone beat me in the middle of the night; and the same thing happened in May.

What made me lose all those times? I always made promises – just like everyone else. I talked about what the state can do to improve the economy, about our international relations, about a more active Knesset and even about the eIDF. A month ago I said that I'm no longer just talking, but also doing – I started participating in open meetings and discussing subjects such as the eIDF and the constitution.

But this month I can say that I understand the meaning of being an active member of the eIsraeli community. I cannot do everything, not at once, and I won't say I can. I can do a little every time. Last month I worked on the constitution, and we made a big progress. When the activity surrounding the constitution became less meaningful, due to internal conflicts and the overall atmosphere of the community, I became active in different fields, and now I am the commander of the eIDF's 2nd division. And if you vote for me in the coming Knesset elections, if you believe that I can give something to you – I will. I will keep contributing to the eIDF, for the sake of stabilizing this old-new organization. I will continue being active in our society, participating in discussions and arguments, striving for the best outcome. I will work for greater cooperation between the different groups in the country – between parties and between military units. I can't promise a baby boom, because that's not something I know. But I can promise to keep contributing to cooperation in this country, to its inner development towards being a stronger nation, to more discussions and communication – because those are the things that let us make the best moves, whether in war or in peace, in the economy or in our foreign policy. And I can keep them, too.
