Here we are... April 11th, 2012. One year earlier, I was reading an article about eRepublik on a famous french website. And then, I joined the game.
Today isn't only my eBirthday, is the eBirthday of many French gamers. But I'll come to this later.
Before yielding the floor to my co-bayboomers, I would like to share the experience of my first year on the game with you. But if you don't want to read it nor the speeches of the others ones who were born that day, you can skip directly to the end : there's a nice comic made by Nanotik, on a totally unrelated topic 🙂

On y est... le 11 avril 2012. Un an plus tôt, je lisais un article à propos d'eRepublik sur un célèbre site de jeux vidéos. Et ensuite, j'ai rejoint le jeu.
Aujourd'hui n'est pas seulement mon eAnniversaire, c'est l'eAnniversaire de beaucoup de joueurs français. Mais je reviendrais sur ça plus tard.
Avant de céder la parole à mes co-babyboomers, j'aimerais partager l'expérience de ma première année sur le jeu avec vous. Mais si vous ne voulez pas lire ça ni les discours des autres qui sont nés le même jour, vous pouvez directement sauter jusqu'à la fin : il y a un joli comic fait par Nanotik, sur un sujet qui n'a totalement rien à voir.

I already started to tell the story of my beginnings in my last article, but I would like to develop it.
Back in 2010, at the beginning of the year, I was told that France was in peril but, since I had an important exam to pass (and a life), I chose not to join the game (I wish I had, though). More than one year later, after I got my degree (and lost my life), I read on the same website I mentioned above a news telling that France was under attack ; at this moment, I remembered what I heard a year ago, and then I finally joined the game.

I have a few memories of this time ; I remember the economical skill, the limit of 100 health per day, the health lost at Day Change, the moving tickets, the old journalistic module, the daily training without trainings grounds (and when there was only Q1 trainings grounds, although it is very recent), when Q5 was the highest grade for food/weapon, etc...
I arrived in a France soon-to-be-wiped out by Spain and Loland during Asiah425's mandate with no one to guide me (whoever managed the MinSol at this time didn't do their job with me, shame on them !), and my only contact was Philippe Hoste, my first boss on the game. When France was wiped out, I moved out to England (yes, we were allied back then) and I came back when PACA was liberated.
And then, many uninteresting things happened, so I'll skip this part (the most important thing I remember is someone sending me a MP to join ULP, but I declined).

I was a 2-click for a very long time (even though I read a lot of ingame articles to be kept in touch) and I stayed that way until, in October, a mission required from me to join a Military Unit.
I hesitated, thinking that it wasn't for me (at this time, MU weren't casual). Then, Christophe Salengro, second of his name, invited me in his MU, the Groland Police Departement (aka Gro.P.D.), and at this very moment I decided to become more than a 2-click. I joined le Parti du Groland and I tried to join the French forum despite of all the bugs I encountered (and I finally succeeded in November, after a long fight against the API which prevented many people to register). I introduced myself and started to discover the forum. At this time, I already knew I wanted to get involved in politics, for I didn't wanted to join the French army nor to write articles, as I thought I wouldn't be motivated enough to have a newspaper (I guess things changed a little bit 😃). So I made an application for the December-January Congress, and here I was, congressman.

I will not tell everything I did as a congressman because it would be annoying as hell (I salute every one of you who has read so far 😃), but I became truly active during my mandate, I haven't stopped since, and I don't intend to because I really enjoy the community.
One year has passed ; one year ago, I was wondering how the f*ck this game was working. Since then, I became a congressman one time, failed 2 times (fun fact : I succeeded the one time I haven't a mere idea of how policy was working in eRep, and I failed when I understood it well and had ideas to defend... f*ck logic !), I was appointed 2nd Commander of my MU, I served as MinInd last month and I even went to a RL meeting in Paris at the end of February ; now I have US citizenship (thanks to US congress and the French government last month), I really want to discover eUSA community and make new contacts, because eRepublik is better for its community than the game itself, and it's way more interesting to be active in several communities than only one 😃

Today is my first eBirthday, but certainly not the last 😉

J'ai déjà commencé à raconter l'histoire de mes débuts dans mon dernier article, mais j'aimerais la développer.
En 2010, au début de l'année, on m'avait dit que la France était en péril mais, étant donné que j'avais le baccalauréat à passer (et une vie), j'ai choisi de ne pas m'inscrire sur le jeu (je souhaiterai l'avoir fait, cependant). Plus d'un an plus tard, après que j'ai eu mon diplôme (et perdu ma vie), j'ai lu sur le même site mentionné plus haut un news disant que la France était attaquée ; à ce moment là, je me suis rappelé ce que j'avais entendu il y a un an de cela, et j'ai finalement décidé de rejoindre le jeu.

J'ai peu de souvenirs de cette époque ; je me rappelle du skill éco, la limite de 100 points de santé par jour, la santé perdue au Day Change, les movings tickets, le vieux module journalistique, l'entraînement quotidien sans trainings grounds (et quand il n'existait que des training grounds Q1, même si c'est très récent), quand les Q5 étaient le plus haut degré pour la nourriture et les armes, etc...
Je suis arrivé dans une France sur le point d'être rasée par l'Espagne et la Lolande pendant le mandat d'Asiah425, avec personne pour me guider (quels que soient ceux qui géraient le MinSol à l'époque n'ont pas fait leur travail avec moi, honte à eux !), et mon seul contact était Philippe Hoste, mon premier patron sur le jeu. Quand la France fut rasée, j'ai déménagé en Angleterre (oui, nous étions alliés à l'époque) et je revint lorsque PACA fut libéré.
Et ensuite, beaucoup de choses inintéressantes se sont passées, donc je vais sauter cette partie (la chose la plus importante dont je me souviens est quelqu'un m'envoyant un message pour que je rejoigne l'ULP, mais j'ai décliné).


J'étais un 2-click pour un très long moment (même si je lisais beaucoup d'articles ingame pour être tenu au courant) et je demeurais ainsi jusqu'à ce qu'en octobre, une mission me demande de rejoindre une Military Unit.
J'hésitais, en pensant que ce n'était pas fait pour moi (à cette époque, les MU n'étaient pas relax). Ensuite, Christophe Salengro, deuxième du nom, m'invita à rejoindre sa MU, le Groland Police Department (ou Gro.P.D.), et à ce moment précis j'ai décidé de devenir plus qu'un 2-click. J'ai rejoint le Parti du Groland et j'ai essayé de m'inscrire sur le forum français, malgré tous les bugs que je rencontrais (et j'ai finalement réussi en novembre, après un long combat contre l'API qui empêchait beaucoup de gens de s'inscrire). Je me présentais et commençais à découvrir le forum. À ce moment là, je savais déjà que je voulais m'impliquer en politique, car je ne voulais pas rejoindre l'Armée ou écrire des articles, étant donné que je pensais ne pas être assez motivé pour avoir un journal (j'imagine que les choses ont un peu changé 😃). Alors j'ai fait une candidature pour le Congrès de décembre-janvier, et ça y est, j'étais congressiste.

Je ne raconterais pas tout ce que j'ai fait en tant que congressiste parce que ça serait ennuyeux comme pas possible (je salue tous ceux qui ont lu jusqu'ici 😃), mais je suis devenu vraiment actif pendant mon mandat, je n'ai pas cessé depuis, et je ne compte pas le faire parce que j'apprécie vraiment la communauté.
Une année est passée ; il y a un an, je me demandais comment foutre ce jeu marchait-il. Depuis ce moment, je suis devenu congressiste une fois, je me suis foiré deux fois (fun fact : j'ai réussi la fois où je n'avais pas même une vague idée de comment la politique fonctionnait sur eRep, et j'ai foiré quand je l'avais compris et que j'avais des idées à défendre... f*ck logic !), j'ai été nommé 2nd Commander de ma MU, j'ai occupé le poste de MinInd le mois dernier je suis même allé à une IRL sur Paris vers la fin de février ; maintenant j'ai la citoyenneté US (merci au Congrès US et au gouvernement français du mois dernier), j'ai vraiment envie de découvrir la communauté des eUSA et faire de nouveaux contacts, parce qu'eRepublik est mieux pour sa communauté que pour le jeu en lui-même, et c'est bien plus intéressant d'être actif dans plusieurs communautés que dans une seule 😃

Aujourd'hui est mon premier eAnniversaire, mais certainement pas le dernier 😉

As I said previously, today isn't only my first eBirthday ; we were many to born this April 11th, 2011. So I asked three of my co-babyboomers to share with us their feelings about their first eBirthday, and I'm glad they accepted.

Comme je l'ai dit précédemment, aujourd'hui n'est pas seulement mon premier eAnniversaire ; nous fûmes beaucoup à naître ce 11 avril 2011. Alors j'ai demandé à trois de mes co-babyboomers de partager avec nous leurs sentiment à propos de leur premier eAnniversaire, et je suis heureux qu'ils aient acceptés.

One year ! One year of eRep, what does it represent ? In the first place, it represents many, many hours spent in front of the PC.

I was immediatly hooked to the game, not for the game itself, which is still quite poor, but for its community side. Here, there's a lot of trolls, some stupid morons, but also many interesting people whom we can have a lot of fun. The RP aspect is nice and very addictive.

In one year I have tried many things (several times PP, aMinSol, aMinEco, congressman, MinEco, ambassador and aMoFa) but I try mainly to expand the community side.

I have created the Corleone des jeux with my newspaper, and I would like to improve it, but for the moment I'm studying the financial feasibility. Because I am one year old doesn't mean I'm rich 🙁

During this year, I also found love, Sorority, la mia mamma 🙂
We hope that my second year will be fertile and that we'll be able to adopt our first babies soon.

To celebrate this birthday, I'll try a BH this wednesday, 11th of April. I have enough to do about 1,5M damages, this isn't much, the choice of the battle will be important 😃 Maybe my second year will begin with a nice fail 😃

Anyway I'm not tired of the game yet, so there will be perhaps many more birthdays.

Un an ! Un an d'eRep, qu'est ce que ça représente ? Premièrement, ça représente beaucoup, beaucoup d'heures passées devant le PC.

J'ai tout de suite accroché au jeu, pas pour le jeu en lui-même, qui est malgré tout assez pauvre, mais pour son coté communautaire. Ici il y a beaucoup de trolls, pas mal d'abrutis finis, mais aussi un bon nombre de personnes très intéressantes avec qui on s'amuse bien. Le coté RP est sympa et très addictif.

En un an j'ai touché pas mal de choses (plusieurs fois PP, aMinSol, aMinEco, congressiste, MinEco, ambassadeur et aMoFa) mais j'essaie surtout de développer le coté communautaire.

J'ai créé la Corleone des jeux avec mon journal, et j'aimerais la développer, mais pour le moment j'étudie la faisabilité financière. Parce que j'ai beau avoir un an, je suis loin d'être riche 🙁

Pendant cette année, j'ai aussi trouvé l'amour, Sorority, la mia mamma 🙂
Nous espérons que ma deuxième année sera fertile et que nous pourrons adopter nos premiers babies bientôt.

Pour fêter cet anniversaire, je vais tenter la BH ce mercredi 11 avril. J'ai de quoi faire 1,5 millions de dégâts à peu près, c'est peu, le choix de la bataille sera important 😃 Peut-être ma deuxième année commencera-t-elle par un beau fail 😃

En tous cas je ne suis pas encore lassé du jeu, il y aura donc peut-être beaucoup d'autres anniversaires 🙂

Well, what is there to say about this first year spent on eRep ? A lot of changes occured, obviously not very attractive for the game, but which make it a little more "tasty" in the same time. The strong point of the game remains its community whom we forge links even if they are torturers who like to put their children in a vault (YES MOMES AND DAD I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU).
I take this opportunity to make dedications to all my eFamily, my former regiment in the Army that I left juste before my first eBirthday (STAY DEBOUT LES MORTS !) and to Kicker who guided me when I started to play and who prevented me to make some huge mistakes.

Eh bien que dire de cette première année passée sur eRep ? Beaucoup de changements ont eu lieu, forcément pas très avantageux pour le jeu, mais qui le rendent en même temps un peu plus savoureux. Le point fort du jeu reste toujours sa communauté à laquelle on s'attache même si c'est des tortionnaires qui aiment foutre leurs enfants à la cave (OUI MAMANES ET PAPA JE PARLE DE VOUS).
J'en profite pour faire des cassdédi à toute mon eFamille, mon ancien régiment à l'armée que j'ai quitté juste avant mon premier eAnniversaire (RESTEZ DEBOUT LES MORTS !) et puis à Kicker qui m'a guidé quand j'ai commencé à jouer et m'a empêché de faire de grosses conneries.

Here I am... it's been a year now I play eRepublik. Well, that makes a lot of clicks and wasted time... 😛. If I have been told that I'll still be here after a year, I honestly think I wouldn't have believed it, and yet...

Fan of strategy games like Civilization (mostly Civ 3 ❤), it's after the famous news of JVC that I came to try the game. At first cheap and uninteresting, it's by registering on the forum the day after I joined that I truly discovered the interest of the thing : a real community to whom I'm today very tied with. Whether through eFamilies, Army or parties... there are many ways to be integrated and having good times 😉.

Talking of the game itself, it is true that I struggled a lot at my beginnings (and by the way, I can thank my eFamily and the MinSol which helped me a lot at this level 😁), and I consider myself to got through this pretty well today (being able to napotrain everyday, hitting full Q6 et earning 3-4 golds per day), so I certainly had to be patient to get there but I have to confess that I now have some fun to play everyday 😁, upping my little financial empire, waging war, discussing and mainly enjoying the forum and IRC to have some good time and to think about something else because we must not forget that it's only a game, made to have fun over all... :3

Ca y est... voilà maintenant un an que je joue à eRepublik. Eh ben ça en fait des clicks et du temps de perdu... 😛. Si on m'avait dit que je serai toujours là au bout d'un an, je pense honnêtement que je ne vous aurais pas cru, et pourtant...

Fan de jeux de stratégie à la Civilization (enfin surtout Civ 3 ❤), c'est suite à la fameuse news de JVC que je suis venu essayer le jeu. Au premier abord si simple et dénué d'intérêt, c'est en m'inscrivant sur le fofo le lendemain de mon inscription sur le jeu que j'ai réellement découvert l'intérêt du bousin : une vraie communauté à laquelle je me suis aujourd'hui très attaché. Que ce soit par le biais des eFamilles, de l'armée ou des partis... il y a vraiment moyen de s'y intégrer et d'y passer de bons moments 😉.

Au niveau du jeu en lui-même, il est vrai que j'ai quand même bien galéré à mes débuts (et je peux d'ailleurs remercier au passage mon eFamille et le MinSol qui m'ont bien aidé à ce niveau là 😁), et j'estime m'en être plutôt bien sorti au final aujourd'hui (pouvant napotrain tous les jours, taper en full Q6 et me faire dans les 3-4 golds/jours), alors certes, il a fallu être patient pour en arriver là mais il faut quand même avouer que je prend maintenant un certain plaisir à venir jouer tous les jours 😁, monter mon petit empire financier, guerroyer, taper la discute et surtout profiter du forum et d'IRC pour passer du bon temps et penser à autre chose car il ne faut pas oublier que ce n'est qu'un jeu fait avant tout pour prendre du fun... :3
