Just a thought.

It appears to me that eRepublik, being true to it's namesake and all, adheres itself to the very noble ideal that is Democracy - quite simply put, a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people". Votes are cast now and again, and eCitizens generally have free reign over their lives. Which is good, really.

A wise man once said, though:

"I do not believe in a system of government that carries the opinion of Aristotle with the same weight as that of the village idiot."

Don't get me wrong. I'm not putting myself above my fellow eCitizens or the game, no. In fact, I'm willing to attest that eRepublik has EXCELLENT gameplay mechanics, a very helpful community, and as it is right now, easily trumps every other browser-based MMOG out there (and will probably maintain it's dominance in the foreseeable future) - the very reason why I was drawn to this game like a fish is drawn to bait.

But a little variety won't hurt, would it?

Let's take old eRussia, for example. The "Soviet Empire" (as it was known to it's people back then) during it's heyday as a sovereign country under the CPSE - the Communist Party of the Soviet Empire had, for starters, formulated their very own pseudo-Soviet state, complete with a propaganda machine (Pravda!, which is even now an excellent newspaper I might add) and a strong sense of national identity - even a rigid government structure (GOSPLAN) to carry out the will of the ruling party - quite enough to consider the system a bit unorthodox. Driven forward by her people with an intensity no other country at that time could match, it seemed that eRussia was unstoppable - until the Great Patriotic War.

I won't get into the detailed specifics, but suffice it to say that if eRussia had as much people as their real-world counterparts, then we wouldn't have had to fall witness to the dissolution of one of the most innovative countries the world of eRepublic had ever seen.

Now, I'm not saying that America couldn't hold a torch to what eRussia had achieved during the course of it's existence. In fact, as we have demonstrated, we already have. Through the efforts of the people that have made America the military, economic and political juggernaut that it is today - it's citizens and leaders - we are currently standing strong as one of the Top 5 countries in eRepublik...and I am confident that we will be on the top of that list very soon.

Therefore, a special thanks is in order, I think - to all eAmericans (especially to those who read this article, lol). Even though I am relatively new to this game, I cannot help but be astounded - and quite honestly, proud - of all that you guys have done to make this country great. Let's keep up the good work, eh?
