Just a kick

January 25, 1995: Matthew Simmons, a neo-fascist supporter of Crystal Palace, gets as close as possible to the pitch and shouts "French bastard son of a bitch" at Manchester United number 7, just sent off by the referee for a foul entry.
Then it turned out that Simmons himself, some time before, had robbed a gas station, slaughtering a Sri Lankan janitor with a club, after having covered him with racist insults.
But that day the neo-fascist had not come to terms with the fact that the target of his insults was nobody, but Eric Cantona*.
That is one of the most unpredictable, brilliant and completely crazy characters ever to walk on the grass of a soccer field.
And the reaction was the one in the photo.
Cantona, for that gesture, had to serve 9 months of disqualification and 120 hours of social services.
He later declared : “Kicking a fascist was the best thing I've done in my entire career. I should have kicked harder. I can't regret it. I felt great. "
For this reason, since then, January 25 has been called “Cantona Day”.
