Jump start

Day 844, 23:10 Published in Greece Greece by Tina Roger

This is my first article here in the new world. I have been in this world for two months now, and I kind of got a jump start into this world. I’ve played some browser based strategy games before, but none that got so much more to them, than what the interface first shows you. With erepublik you have to take a peek behind the curtains to see where the real fun is.

“ooh, a secret door! So there’s where you’ve been hiding all the fun!”

First when I joined I made the “huge” mistake and thought that the register page asked for the country I lived in, and not the country I wanted to be a citizen of in erepublik. So I had to move, and ask for citizenship. And I then became eGreek, and all the fun began.

I went through my first days with “two-clicking” my account to level up so I actually could do things. But I didn’t just “two-click”, because that is way too boring to do. So with guidance from Buck Roger, who brought me into this new world, I started to get a picture of the game and what it is all about.
It is much more to this game, than what the interface in the browser shows you. I found out that with this game, you could make as much out of it, as you wanted to.
I then started to read up a lot, figured there were much I didn’t knew, and much of erep history I would need to know, to be able to be an active citizen.

I then found out that eGreece hadn’t always been the way it is now; it had been occupied by eTurkey. And I got knowledge about the different wars there already been in this world, and knowledge about the two alliances, EDEN and Phoenix, and their history.
I also got knowledge about the political scene in eGreece, and as soon as I hit level 7 I joined up with GIP, Greek Independence Party. And then I joined the forum for GIP, and found that the game was even more fun to play. Because now it was more to it, than just train, fight and work.

I quickly became an active player, both within erepublik, because of my jump start into the game.
So in January I began to reach a hand out to newbies and tried to help them. What I then saw was a big sea of dead players who haven’t gotten around to see what this game really is, and how fun it can be. Because they given up so soon, because the first few levels seems very boring. I myself would probably become one of those dead newbies if it weren’t that I got good guidance about what was to come, just as I leveled up a bit. And what was behind those curtains.

Let’s jump start more citizens!

The Greek Ministry of new players has started a mentor program, this is really good. It means that we, the already active citizens of eGreece can reach out to more younglings, and hopefully get them to stick to it until the fun begins. Get them more active in the other aspects of erepublik, than the obvious train, fight and work.
There are potential congress members, country presidents, party presidents, party members, company owners, news writers etc. that joins the game every day; they just don’t know it yet. So if you been in this world for at least two months, and you feel you could spend some minutes guiding a new player, contact the Ministry of new players and volunteer to become a mentor.
