July congressional elections not being contested by AAP?

As per orders of newly elected Party President of the AAP, Mercurius100 we will not contest the congressional election this month. PEACE has become more of a threat then ever before. We must put politics on the back burner and protect our nation at all cost. During my reign nothing has ever happened like this. For over five months straight we contest the congressional elections. There were always wars with PEACE since I can remember but not like this. They never came close to the eus in more than one direction. We must stand behind Mercurius100 and work together as a party to protect our nation.
Mercurius100 claims the USWP, LIBS and CVP will not contest the July elections as well.
We will still run our incumbents for reelection but will not contest other seats expect UIP seats. The UIP has yet to join in on our agreement. Anyone who has signed up to challenge a UIP seat keep campaigning but no more people can sign up regardless of what happens. No more sign ups whatsoever. Harrison Richardson from the USWP denies that his party has abided by these terms. Moreover the Socialist Freedom Party refuses to enter our agreement. CaptainCAPS claims him and the UIP will not abided by this crap. More information can be found here:

Mercurius100 implores voters to join the eUS Air Force to help diminish PTO's on the 25th.
I concur with Robert Bayer statement in the "bedtime for democracy the rise of american fascism" article though. There must be a way to keep the congressional elections running, and protect our nation at the same time. I do disagree with Mercurius100 actions but I will support him throughout his term as Party President if he is telling us the truth about the elections.

I am very concerned by this as well. Very concerned. The "leadership" of the AAP has been colluding with the USWP for quite a while, in congress, in cabinet positions, and on the forums for longer than that. We are at a crucial point, I feel.
So smaller parties are to just sit here and watch as members of the top 5 get their seats again and 5 more gold to help campaign in August? What kind of democracy is this? The "leadership" of the top 4 parties did not even ask for the consent of smaller parties as if they are unimportant. Do we not exist to you? The top 4 really doesn't have anything to lose, especially the congress-dominated USWP. I have nothing against the top 4 parties but this is ridiculous.
Yeah after the RightCon disbanded AAP has not worked with the right wing ever since. It's seems likes AAP only sticks together with the USWP. Back in my days in congress I worked with conservatives like Gilroy, Cromstar, and Dbuck to get tax changes passed.
What about parties without a congress seat at all and was excited about possibly getting a few? I bet the current congress agreed with the utmost sincerity.......
Outrageous. Just because we are at war doesn't mean we should drop our citizens' rights. Is Chancellor Palpatine behind this?...

Another AAP’er here, and I’m quite concerned as well. This issue has (naturally) sprung up in various newspapers this morning, and the reaction from leadership (congress particularly) has been troubling. We’re accused of being uninformed, but if these decisions are being made behind closed doors, how is that our fault?
As the new UIP Vice President, a Senator, and more importantly as a citizen of the eUSA who believes in free elections I stand against Congressional seat freezes.
You guys need to contact your leadership and let them know what you think about this plan. See if they are even open towards discussing it with you or not. I know in the UIP we have an open forum discussion on the issue where ALL our members can comment on it.

CWC I'm sorry but you have been out of touch with eUS politics for several months now - if you and others want to advocate some paranoid attachment to RL ideas of American democracy, so be it, but it will come at the cost of our eUS sovereignty. Our allies will fall to PTO's 1 by 1 without our assistance, and we cannot offer that assistance if we're too busy 1-upping each other.
Let's fight PEACE, folks, not the other US parties.
We are going to lose no matter what option we pick. Option 1: be a self centered individualist and focus only on democracy in eus, thus our allies get picked off one by one and peace later defeats us. Option 2: be a collectivist and worry about eus last, we work together to save our allies. Perhaps the allies of eus get saved but democracy is lost in eus though.
I do not believe there is a such thing as people that are somewhat collectivist and somewhat individualist. If there was then there would be option 3: Keep democracy in eus and send some voters to stop PTO's. Would be a win-win situation if both priorities are treated equality as important.
Without option 3 eus most pick the less of the two evils.
@Cerb So, as Co-PP CWC has been out of touch? Explain FULLY, or don't make such ludicrous indictments. This is no "paranoid attachment" to RL ideals. This is one of the things that the game play is predicated upon. Maybe you'd be better off playing Rome:Total War, WoW, or break out Super Mario if you want one entity to have autonomy. To satisfy your ends, we might make an alternate mechanism for deciding the results of combat outside of the game.
If we have an informed and vigilant population, we will not fall to a PTO. If political parties LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER, then we will not have party PTO's, big or small.
Put together a group of several hundred volunteers, and put together an anti-PTO task force. But you will not subvert our democracy, for every citizen, here at home. Here at home at home our ideals are rooted in socializing, compromising and finding common ground by being IN community. You burning a Reichstagg and blaming it on a ghost we need to be afraid of is silly, and insulting. Especially if you tell us "we are just uninformed". By all means inform us, please, we beg you, or sit down, and be very, very quiet.

Listen, we needed to do SOMETHING.
SOMETHING.
Nothing is perfect, and though the primary is a better system, it takes longer to impose and I would prefer it. For THIS election this is the best way to secure our nation and get ourselves out there to help out against foreign PTO's and start our own.
Hopefully next term we'll get the primary system in place and democracry will reign again.
