For the full experience run the video links, listen, watch and enjoy reading.

In this article I want to show you how the congress member interface looks like. I also want to share with you how to prepare well for a congress position. And here I explain my decisions in voting process, so you can track my work as a congressman here. In this way we can learn from this and if you like this, perhaps you can run and soon become congressman as well. I would also like to encourage other congressmen to keep track of their work and to donate gold from their congress medal to National Bank of Egypt (if you are a congressman in eEgypt, otherwise to your National Bank). At the beginning and at the end of the article there are two songs, so listen, read and enjoy it. If you have any questions or comments, please, share it with me and I'll try to help in any way I can.

Congress Member Achievement

Today, on Day 1,253, after a year and a half in eRepublik, I got elected for a congressman for the first time - in eEgypt, Red Sea Coast region.

Egyptian Parliament

It was after I ran for congress in eCroatia once, and it was my second time to run for congress in eEgypt. So I guess it is as they say: The third time's lucky.

Congress Member Achievement

After good preparation, which included making a good presentation and wisely selecting a region to run for congress in agreement with my party leader, heboo, I finally got elected. Although not many recognized my talent for politics, I am satisfied. At least the votes are real, and not bot-votes.

Elections Results in Red Sea Coast region

At least 5 gold from Congress Medal didn't go wasted and I'll do my best to prove as a capable and honest congressman.
More on good qualities required from a decent congressman, you can read either in my presentation article called 6 Qualities of an Exceptional Congressman or in another article of mine entitled Congressional Ratings - See The Score On Your Congressmen.

Congress Medal Donation to the National Bank of Egypt

My first move was as a congressman was to donate gold from my congress medal to the National Bank of Egypt. I hope it would be used wisely, either to stabilize the market prices if needed, either to help to an entrepreneur starting new business, either to be built in defense of eEgypt.

My Donation to the National Bank of Egypt

Citizenship Applications

Even before I was elected, I received several Citizenship requests. Many citizenship requests and a single citizenship pass.

Citizenship passes: 1

Thus, I need to chose carefully and to chose wisely.

So, I browsed through all the pending Citizenship applications and especially through those of players that I received ingame messages of asking for a CS pass. So I send them all a questioneer to find out more about them, their plans and intentions and possible contributions to eEgypt.
I'd like to share some information on that with public, but I am not sure if that would be sharing personal information. I need to discuss it in congress first in hope that we could reach agreement on what would be the list of CS grants.

After careful consideration, I decided to grant a Citizenship pass to dikefalos1926.

My citizenship pass goes to dikefalos1926.

He has promise😛
First of all i will create companys after the changes, also i will fight everyday for Egypt as i do for greece also i will invest in Egypts economy.

Our complete correspondence, you can see here.

Since there are many applications and only one CS pass from my side, I would also recommend giving CS pass to:

Beermagedon

Beermagedon said that he is waiting for CS pass for a month, and offered to relocate his Q4 weapons company to eEgypt. He also published newspapers and believes that Greeks and Turks could get along. Since he said that he is RL Greek with eUSA passport and is in iNCI unit, it might be so.

If I had more citizenship passes, I would grant citizenships to these people:
Emperador Suino
mrkvica_385
za_pivu_spreman.

Law Proposals

Law Proposals Interface for Congressmen

For all the law proposals it is important for them to be discussed in congress before even being proposed in order to reach agreement first and to avoid proposals being turned down. At least to send elaboration of the proposals to all the congressmen in order to understand more clearly why they are being proposed and what is the goal of changing the law. In the long term it saves law proposals, it saves time, it improves interpersonal relations and avoids frustration. And there is definitely a purpose for Debate location link. I hope it works! 😉

Tax change Oil VAT 0%, Import Tax 20%, Income Tax 5% [Day 1,254]

Tax change Oil: Voted NO.

Voted NO. The proposal has not been elaborated. It negatively influences National Bank funds, and puts workers in other industries to unfavorable position. On the other hand it favors oil industry, but not much.

Donate 2000 EGP from the Country acounts to National Bank of Egypt [Day 1,254]

Donate 2000 EGP from country accounts to National Bank of Egypt: Voted YES.

Voted YES. It seemed not harmful to vote yes. But when I thought about it more, I don't see that eEgypt has too much local currency available. Anyway, could affect well EGP exchange rate for gold, strengthening EGP, but not much. MPP funds could be negatively affected, though... Another proposal which was not clarified.

Saudi Arabia has been proposed as Natural Enemy [Day 1,254]

Saudi Arabia has been proposed as Natural Enemy: Voted NO.

Voted NO. Proposal was made late in the night (around 3:00 a.m. CET) and was not explained. eKSA is our neighbor and we try to keep relatively good relations with them. This proposal could compromise that. We also don't get anything from attacking eKSA since eGreece is already attacking eKSA in Ha'il and will probably win it. eEgypt has another border with eKSA in Jizan and we already hold oil region in Makkah, so we don't have use of it and we deteriorate our already tense relations with eKSA. That's why I voted NO.

Tax change Food VAT 2%, Import Tax 55%, Income Tax 5% [Day 1,254]

Tax change Foo😛 Voted YES.

Voted YES. Although the proposal has not been elaborated and it negatively influences National Bank funds, the food is important product and our youngest players depend on it. Since current prices of food could be lower (0.75 EGP atm), I voted YES.

Minimum Wage Change from 1 EGP to 5 EGP

Minimum Wage Change from 1 EGP to 5 EGP [Day 1,254]

Voted YES. Since the job market salary is 8 EGP for economic skill 1 and it still allows enough room for profit, I voted YES. Although it was suggested to leave minimum wage low for military unit needs, I believe that soldiers alike need to have decent salary, otherwise it can influence their moral. And more money they have, more weapon can they buy, even if they get some for free. And finally, the higher the minimum wage, the higher amount of money goes through taxes to the treasury. So I voted YES on this law proposal.

Tax change Weapons VAT 5%, Import Tax 40%, Income Tax 10% [Day 1,254]

Tax change Weapons: Voted NO.

Voted NO. Increasing import tax and decreasing VAT will favor our industry, but there are not many weapons companies which sell weapons on the market. We need lower prices of q5 weapons and we need more weapons companies. Until then, there are no tax favors when buying a weapon is luxury and we don't have enough weapons supply to raise import taxes. We need more competition, not protection. That is why I voted NO on this proposal.

New Citizen Fee Change from 5 EGP to 6 EGP

New Citizen Fee Change from 5 EGP to 6 EGP [Day 1,254]

Voted NO. This country needs more citizens and we shouldn't discourage them to apply by raising Citizen Fee. With more good quality citizenship applications, we could chose the best ones. Although 6 EGP is not too much, it is still more than 5 EGP. So I voted NO on this law proposal.

Issue 2000 EGP for 10 Gold [Day 1,254]

Issue 2000 EGP for 10 Gold [Day 1,254]

Voted NO. Although issuing money can be very useful sometimes, I don't see it necessary at the moment and certainly not in such small amounts. I think the timing is definitely wrong. Yesterday we voted to redraw 2000 EGP from the treasury, and now we should print 2000 EGP? That makes no sense... If we need 2000 EGP, we should donate them from the National Bank of Egypt and not print it now. Especially now when we finally raised value of EGP to be under 200 EGP per gold. Issuing local currency should wait a bit more until the exchange rate of EGP raises more and until we would need some EGPs for MPPs. That is why I voted NO on this law proposal.

Tax change Food VAT 8%, Import Tax 55%, Income Tax 20% [Day 1,256]

Tax change Foo😛 Voted NO.

Voted NO. The proposal has not been elaborated. Although it positively influences National Bank funds, the food is important product and our youngest players depend on it, raising income tax could bring to decrease of purchase power for workers who work in food industry, this would discourage people to work in this industry and shift the workforce to other sectors, which could bring to increased food prices. Current prices of food seem OK (0.75 EGP atm), so would not change that, and I voted NO.

Trading Embargo on UAE [Day 1,258]

Trading Embargo UAE: Voted YES.

Voted YES. Although I believe trade should be free and I don't support starting trade embargoes, in this case I find it justified as a countermeasure to trade embargo on eEgypt voted in eUAE two days ago.

MPP with China [Day 1,259]

MPP with China: Voted YES.

Voted YES. MPP with eChina is good for eEgypt. eChina has over 20 million of influence daily. So it offers good protection and prevention from the attack. Additionally eEgypt can participate in wars initiated by eChina and help them win. I initiated talks on MPP with eChina around two weeks ago concering MPP. Although I don't know how much we are paying for it, I believe MPP with eChina is welcome. That is why I voted YES.

New Citizen Message

New Citizen Message, Proposed by Varlosh

Voted YES. Although I believe New Citizen Message could be better, I voted YES since it needed update and it was president Varlosh last Law Proposal. He deserved it, because he fulfilled all eEgypt national goals. However, I am sorry not being advised on this law proposal. Anyway, I would suggest some improvements at least. This is how would it go:
