Joshua Hoss: Second Term as President / תקופת כהונה שניה כראש ממשלה

Day 806, 14:21 Published in Israel USA by Joshua Hoss
:: Official Declaration ::

I, Joshua Hoss, intend to seek re-election as President of eIsrael on February 5th, 2010. I will be running as a member of the United eIsraeli Party (UeIP).

:: Looking Back – A Month of Progress ::

When I took the office on January 6th we were set to lose Jerusalem (within one hour of me becoming President) to eTurkey. We were looking at becoming a “one region nation” and facing a very poor future. We had two open wars; an actual war with eTurkey and a region swap war with eGreece. The first war was the main reason for our poor state of affairs, but the second war presented its own problems. The eUSA was leery about continuing an Alliance with us because of the second war. We didn’t have any hospitals, very few businesses, very few players, and little tax income. Things literally looked very dark.

Over the course of the month things began to improve. We(mainly our Minister of Defense, Maelyn) worked very hard with eGreece to deploy the eIDF to eGreece. There the eIDF helped beat back eTurkey and allowed eGreece to take our regions. Meanwhile we began using diplomacy to end our “region swap war” with eGreece and thus open up new opportunities with the eUSA. Once the treaty was signed and agreed on we could begin to take back our regions from eGreece. Tel Aviv, Nazareth, and Jerusalem all were returned back to our country with allied help. We secured a free (I repeat FREE) Quality 5 hospital from the eUSA that was placed into Beersheba, and worked on renewing our Alliance with the eUSA at no cost to us.

Of course there was controversy during this time, as there always is in eIsrael. Several active, experienced, yet controversial players criticized the end of the eGreek war. One of those players even began an impeachment attempt against me, using the claim that “it was not discussed”. After a long discussion it was pointed out that discussions of this nature were made available on the official eIsraeli forum, the player was directed there, and the issue was resolved.

Towards the end of the month our Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sir Valaro Volcrum, made the announcement that we had joined the Sol Alliance. This is a defensive and economic alliance based out of Asia. This came at a great time as many citizens were unsure of our standing on the global scale. We obviously had poor relations with Phoenix, Eden was not expressing much interest in increasing our relationship, and neutral countries are hard to maintain. With Sol we are able to become involved in something bigger. It gives us the room to express our opinions globally, to seek/give aid as needed, and to increase our overall activity.

:: The Short Term Future ::

Anybody who has ever served as President will say that they never accomplished everything they wanted to in their short time in office. eRepublik is a game of longevity in that things take time to develop. Everyone would like to see change occur overnight, but this is not the way the game works. Patience and hard work are the only way to accomplish anything.

During the past month we have worked on ending our war with eTurkey. I talked with several eTurkish government officials at various times, trying to put an end to the war and secure our borders. At one point things seemed to be progressing as there was open dialogue between me and their government. However, eTurkey has had several issues pop up this month. One of those issues is that their President was banned from the game. Needless to say the talks to end the war have not come to fruition. That doesn’t mean we have given up or that we shouldn’t try. It is my hope that peace can and will be achieved. As I said, things take time.

We also are looking at becoming involved in the Sol War games here in the very near future. These games, while expensive, will allow our citizens to fight daily and thus gain experience, health, and have a general sense of fun. It will also allow us to refine the eIDF and develop that force into an elite fighting unit. Stay tuned for details in the future regarding these war games.

Our Minister of Finance, Kazeal, is monitoring and adjusting our financial market as need be. It is important for any government to stabilize not only its economy but the value of its currency. If that value is not stable then businesses have to operate under variability of wages, and that means less money for the average worker. By adjusting the value of the NIS and regulating the amount of gold on the market we are able to make sure that wages are fair, businesses can make a profit, and we are presented as an attractive country to run a company.

Lastly, we are looking at becoming one of the few countries to achieve all three of our national goals this month. These goals were established when I became President on the 6th. While they have no bearing on the game we should take some sense of pride in these achievements. Many different people worked hard to accomplish many different things this past month. Without any of them our country would be worse off.

:: Why Should You Vote for Me? ::

I will not give a big speech here about “why you should vote for me”. Instead I have just one wor😛 Consistency. Over the past several months eIsrael has not had a President be elected to more than 1 month in office. Some Presidents were impeached, their successor elected, then defeated in the next election or impeached themselves. While this is the nature of democracy it does have a negative side effect: with different Presidents come different approaches to the game. When one person leaves the office their replacement will have a different way of doing things.

This means that every month we have had to wait for a President to catch his feet and develop a game plan. I will be the first to admit that the same thing happened when I took office this past month. It takes a few days to refine any administration, even if that person was a President many months ago. That is time lost that cannot be regained. Keeping the current administration in place prevents that time from being lost or slowing down the development of our country.

By voting for me you vote for eIsrael to keep on its current path of progress. I have the tools and ability to lead our country. I have proven that I have eIsrael’s best interests as my goal. I have a hard working and knowledgeable staff. Things are getting better. Let’s not throw away all the hard work and dedication from the past month but instead continue to work on making things better.

Make no mistake, I do not declare myself “perfect” in any way. What I will say is that I am hard working (my wife would argue I put in TOO much time), honest (I have never stolen or taken anything from eIsrael, one of the few Presidents to be able to claim that), and have the best interests of eIsrael at heart. If you do to then please vote for me.

:: In Closing ::

As always if you have a question or comment please let me know. I am happy to show that I will make the effort to respond to you. I even joined the fxp (Hebrew) forums to better understand and inform a demographic of our population. I will never ask a person to agree with everything I say; instead I want to hear different thoughts and ideas. But I cannot understand your thoughts or ideas unless you tell me about them. It does not make a difference to me where you live in real life, what language you speak, what your religious beliefs are, or who you are. Everyone can help eIsrael, and it is my duty as President to make sure you can.

Thank you for your time. I look forward towards serving you all in the future.

Joshua Hoss
