Joshua Hoss for UIP President

Day 601, 06:32 Published in USA USA by Joshua Hoss
:: INTRODUCTION::

I am announcing my plans to run for party President of the United Independents Party. This is something I have planned for a long time, and something I am very excited about. My running for Party President is being endorsed by our current Party President Ansen. Ansen and I have worked together before he came into office as Party President 3 months ago. At that time both Ansen and I were interested in taking the UIP to new levels. Princess MedyPi had decided not to run for a second term and Ansen decided the time was right. He brought me on board has his Vice President along with MedyPi. I am forever grateful for the opportunity Ansen gave me, and I respect his decisions and ideas. That is why I consulted him and gathered his feelings on me running for Party President.

For those of you who do not know me – I have been a member of the UIP since February. When I first joined I checked into the Rizon Chat Server and joined the UIP Chat room. In there I began to ask questions about the party, eUSA, and the game itself. Apparently I asked a few too many questions, as then Party President Nonesuch decided to make me the Welcome Director. I served in that role for another two months before becoming the UIP Vice President.

Outside of the UIP I am actively involved in eRepublik. I am the current General of the eUSA Airborne and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I have served in the military since joining the game, working my way up from a Private in the National Guard to where I am now. I also served two terms as an eCongressman from Wisconsin (my real life home state). During that time I was the Military Committee Chair and helped create a budget for our military. Finally I am Co-Owner of JY Industries, an Organization that currently owns three companies.

I will never tell anyone where to stand on issues, how to vote, or who to support. I will however tell people where I stand, where my vote is going, and who I support. The UIP is a party of Independents. As cliché as that sounds it does work. My cabinet does not have to vote on the same lines as my or support a candidate I prefer. Rather we all work towards making the UIP, and the eUSA, a better place to be.

:: PLANS FOR THE CABINET ::

One of the things I have wanted to work on is creating more cohesion and flow within the UIP. We currently run several programs, ranging from the welcome program to the mentor program to the recruitment program. Managing all of our programs is a great joy, but can lead to burn out. In order to prevent not only myself but my staff from burning out I am going to restructure the Party President’s Cabinet. For more information on this please check out my post on the UIP Forums (http://myucp.com/forums/index.php/topic,1197.msg10105.html#msg10105). While not all positions are filled, I would like to announce those that are.

Vice President: StygianSteel
Secretary of Elections: Tepwnzor
Secretary of Communications: Chris Stanwick
Secretary of Technology: AndraX2000
Chief of Congressional Affairs: NeilP99
Chief of Voters: DanielCD
Chief of Public Relations: Lex Scandalex
Chief of Recruitment: narrowriver
Chief of Internal Communications: Pikezh638
Chief Mentor: Kazeal

Congratulations to all of you. You all came highly recommended, and I look forward towards working with you all. Together we will all make the UIP the best party in the eUSA.

:: MY PLAN – QUANTITY OF QUALITY ::

You may have read about the UIP’s short term move from the eUSA’s 5th largest party to 4th, and then back again. While all of us involved in the UIP were excited to move up the rankings we were also disappointed. We had enough members to take the 4th largest party spot, but UIP Forum and Chat room activity did not increase to reflect that. While we all enjoyed not being the “smallest of the bigs” we all felt that having active members was more important than just having members.

That is why I would like to announce our new plan: “Quantity of Quality”. All parties have to expand and grow or they risk becoming stagnant and falling apart. While the UIP would like to increase numbers we also want to increase the activity level of those new members. This doesn’t mean that all new members need to read the forums ten times daily, or be logged into the chat room constantly. What it does mean is that the UIP’s members have a decent grasp of current affairs, have their own stance on issues important to them, and know where to look to discuss these issues.

Our recruitment, welcome, and mentor programs will be designed to inform newer players (new to the game or just to the UIP) about their options out there. Our Wellness and Communications programs will be designed to inform people of current affairs and to ensure they can participate in them. Think of the UIP as a helpful tool – all of these programs are designed to make you grow an eRepublik player.

:: SUMMARY ::

I am sure that I am leaving something important out. Because this is my first run and (if elected) term as UIP Party President I am sure there will be a few kinks to work out. Having been in Ansen’s cabinet for 3 months I do have a good feel for how things work, and I look forwards towards getting to try my ideas out. We have a great core of UIP members who are dedicated to the game. I really do look forward towards working with them and I hope they feel the same.
My mailbox is always open, or you can catch me on the Rizon Chat Server. Please ask questions. If you ask enough it might just open a whole new world for you. It did for me.

I would like to throw in one last congratulations for Ansen. He has been a great boss, mentor, and friend these last 3 months. He and I have witnessed a lot, had good triumphs, and a few losses. I will miss serving as his #2, having his “To Do” lists, and getting to say “Ask Ansen”. I, and the UIP, appreciate what you have done for us Ansen. Thank you.

I would greatly appreciate your consideration for Party President of the UIP in the upcoming election.

Sincerely,
Joshua Hoss
