Josh Frost for November: A Brighter Tomorrow

Day 707, 16:16 Published in USA Poland by Battle Kitten
Presidential Platform

I am announcing my intention to run for President of the United States. After much deliberation I have decided to throw my hat into the ring for this election. I am not running to oppose any person, but to propose new policy. Running for president is not a decision that I take lightly. I recognize the gravity of our current situation and also recognize the commitment it requires to both run for president and to properly lead this country. I have been privileged to have worked with the past four presidents (Scrabman, Harrison Richardson, Emerick, and Gaius Julius). Whatever I might have disagreed with them about in the past, I want to make one thing clear: We owe them all and whoever serves next and in the future an incredible debt of gratitude. The presidency is an incredible burden and is often sought by those who seek only to better the lives of the citizens of this country.

During my tenure in this game I have served in many capacities. I have been a member of the USWP and have served as Institute Director and currently sit on the USWP’s Executive Board. I have served as a congressman in the United States Congress. I was a Lieutenant in the United States Airborne, then a Colonel, and finally a Brigadier General. After serving in the Airborne, I served in the eUSA’s Marine Corps, which in many ways was the most exciting time I have had in this game. I also served as Lieutenant General in the United States Air Force which I built from the ground up and organized PTO and anti-PTO operations around the globe. This experience exposed me to a variety of world leaders and allowed me the unique opportunity to get their insights on PEACE and our ongoing conflict as a whole. I have served two terms as the Secretary of Defense under both Emerick and Gaius Julius. For the past month in this game I have organized and led SEAL Team 6 which is a Resistance War Squad that fights around the globe.

I am choosing to run at this time not to oppose any other candidate on a personal level. I instead choose to run to propose new ideas and to help reform the government from both a policy standpoint, efficiency standpoint, and from institutional standpoint. The outcome of this war at home will soon be determined, but if we are unwilling to address the problems that plague this nation, the peace we secure will be an empty one. We will find ourselves victorious and proud, but with no clear direction. We cannot wait to make fundamental changes in our government. We have widespread patriotism and multi-partisanship at this moment in history and I feel that all citizens regardless of their party can contribute to help build a better America.

The Military and the War

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Undoubtedly throughout the course of this war, we have been tested. We started out with 51 regions and we were pushed back to one. There were days where America’s fate looked incredibly bleak and now it looks quite optimistic. We were able to defeat PEACE in North America due to the collective efforts of a wide array of people and organizations. Without the cooperation and hard work of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, our allies in Canada, EDEN, Resistance Organizations, private citizens, and most of all our combat soldiers, this war would have had a very different outcome. At this time I want to take a moment to personally thank every person in the eUSA’s military. They often get credit for our accomplishments, but not nearly enough. Each one of these individuals makes a pretty substantial sacrifice in terms of real life time to get the job done day in and day out. Often when the rest of the eUSA is asleep you can go to different military chat rooms and find five or ten guys waiting and watching walls to help ensure our victory by fighting when needed. This is the type of sacrifice that makes the eUSA truly great.

Out of all the organizations that the government pays for, I can honestly say that the most efficient and effective one is the United States military. Whatever problems the military faces, they more often than not confront on their own and solve them with practical and effective solutions. During the darkest days of the war our economy took a slight down turn (though it has currently rebounded), in order to combat this budget crunch Marines and now the Airborne have created companies that supply iron, tickets, and weapons to their soldiers. This significantly reduces costs and aids the United States in creating a proper war chest and allows us to save money to build infrastructure. As president I will expand the program to other branches of the military so as long as they meet the necessary skill requirements in order to produce the maximum amount of goods necessary.

In terms of policy, I am hesitant to start expansion wars. I do not fear our enemies as individuals, but I am wary of opening any more MPP’s against this country. Perhaps the greatest flaw previous presidents created in the modern eUSA are opening up MPP’s which have enabled our enemies to essentially get a free shot at us in the past. It presents the eUS military with a multitude of problems when protecting this nation and asks them to find solutions to almost impossible problems. One of the original intent of the military was to create a mobile force that could drop into incursions and fight for our allies while at the same time not opening up MPP’s that threaten our nation. If we expect the military to defend us, then we should at least give them an equal playing field to compete on. I intend to explore whatever means possible to close our open wars and allow our military to work on the defense of this nation.

So to summarize my platform on the military/war, we need to:

1. Continue working closely with our allies to protect each other from the PEACE threat.
2. Work with the military to continue to solve their own problems and make them a more effective fighting force.
3. Continue supporting the creation of military weapons companies.
4. Work on closing our MPP’s and allow the United States to military to fight on equal footing against PEACE.

Foreign Policy

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

In the past our foreign policy has been a mixed bag to say the least. We have always had the capacity to work well with our allies and to work towards common goals, but often infighting raised its ugly head. We have been given a new opportunity with the formation of EDEN. The United States and Canada although torn by war, now fully understand the PEACE threat because it finally hit our shores. This war although destructive in many ways, has done incredible things for us in terms of coordination with our allies and creating a common worldview. We must continue to work hand in hand with our allies to preserve the peace and to drive PEACE out of every region they seek to oppress. PEACE has built its power off of the backs of those that cannot defend themselves. They have stolen their gold and also stolen their territories. I firmly believe that it is the responsibility of the United States and our allies around the world to liberate these countries from PEACE oppression if they request it.

Another key component of our foreign policy should be the continued discussions of peace with fringe PEACE nations for both ourselves and our allies. All of this said, we must trust and then verify. We must make a concerted effort to close some of our currently open MPP's to better defend our nation but at the same time, we must not fall into the trap of believing that some of our former enemies might one day change their minds, realize the error of their ways and choose to stand side by side with us against the battle against PEACE oppression. There is nothing wrong with this belief, but recent history has shown us that taking the word of some PEACE nations can have incredibly disastrous results. We believed that AHA would see our line of reasoning and be willing to work with us on an alliance, they said all of the right words and then Mexico allowed Columbia to assault our southern border. We believed that the French were falling away from PEACE and that they would be willing to close their wars with us and live in harmony and then they attacked Delaware.

Whatever these nations’ motivations were, they made a clear choice to side with PEACE, which in my mind is due to fear of reprisal for saying no. I am firmly convinced at this point in time, that the only way to secure peace with these nations is to drive PEACE out of North America and to openly challenge the key players in PEACE at every turn. We must show the world that the USA and EDEN are the new global super powers and that we are not committed to imperialism, but to the liberation of all oppressed nations around the globe. We cannot act like a lumbering giant and expect the world to pay us any heed when we approach the negotiating table. Once this is done, these former fringe PEACE states will clearly see that they are part of a dying alliance and will want to reclaim their sovereignty and will reject PEACE and its use of them as mere puppet states to serve their purposes. Ultimately, we will achieve true and long lasting peace through strength.

The last topic I want to talk about is about the United States joining EDEN. I think it is time that we officially joined the EDEN alliance. We owe our allies a great debt and each one of them has proven that they are loyal and trustworthy. They have committed their time, militaries, and money helping us recapture our territory and it is time that we return the favor. One of the first things I would do as President is to get the United States into EDEN as an official member. Our loyalty should always be with those that are willing to fight for and with us combating PEACE around the globe.

So to summarize my platform on foreign policy, we need to:

1. Continue to work well with our allies.
2. Free oppressed nations around the globe.
3. Avoid entanglements that threaten America’s security, by closing MPP's and through careful negotiation.
4. Establish ourselves and our allies as world powers in order to get fringe PEACE nations to join us.
5. Join Eden.

Economics
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Despite the fact that we have no iron, we have one of the most successful economies in the world. Our Congress and Economic Council have done and outstanding job getting the US economy back on track after some initial problems during the war. Now that the war is over we need to continue the progress being made to ensure we continue to have a profitable economy. If we can continue to grow in terms of economic power, we will also inevitably grow in terms of military power also.

We need to continue to lower trade barriers with our EDEN allies to ensure that we get the cheapest products available and that we in turn can sell our products in other markets around the globe. The second thing we need to do is spend the bulk of revenue on military actions. Thankfully this is not real life, but in the game, war equals economic boom and progress. The more we fight, the more guns, gifts, and tickets we sell, in turn business owners buy more iron, diamonds, and oil to produce more products to sell to the American public. This generates a ton of tax revenue and in turn makes business owners companies profitable and helps keep our economic machine rolling. Investing in our military and in our war powers as a whole is essentially money in the bank.

All of this said, I believe the President should only offer advice and help guide economic policy. The Economic Council and the Congress have done a fine job and there is no sense interfering with what is working. It is said too many cooks spoil the broth. In this case, the Economic Council has cooked some good soup and I am not going to interferre and unintentionally spoil it.

So to summarize my platform on economics, we need to:

1. Lower trade barriers with our allies.
2. Spend the bulk of our tax revenue on the military.
3. Allow the Economic Council and Congress to work and stay the course.

Education

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

My final reason for running, centers on organization and government efficiency. Despite our current circumstances we still have the potential to do great things. Despite this potential, the current disorganization, clutter, and infighting in our government makes effective change nearly impossible. We have a populace that is not getting educated at the beginning of their lives in simple game play and in terms of military effectiveness. This alone threatens our very survival as a nation and must be immediately addressed with new ideas and a new sense of vigor. Our failure to produce a cohesive agenda for both the Cabinet and Congress also presents a problem. Rather than having a well defined plan, we drift from accomplishment to failure, without clear direction. This is not a knock at anyone running any department, but it clearly illustrates that we sometimes do not prioritize things properly.

If we have any hopes of not only surviving as a nation, but thriving as a nation, we must drastically change the way we educate and train our citizenry. The Department of Education has incredible potential to not only educate our citizens, but to also ensure that they survive the game for the long term. Rather than monitor and support this organization we have not illustrated its importance to the American public. I intend to reinvigorate this program with both new ideas and a new direction. My administration will find Americans that are interested in public service outside of the military realm to create informative training documents that will teach each new citizen how to succeed in this game. We will begin to actively recruit qualified mentors from both the populace and from private organizations. If we can get just 25% or 30% of our new citizens to retain interest in the game and to grow and contribute to our country we can be unstoppable both domestically and on a global scale.

The second issue I would like to address in terms of education is our military training. Our current Training Corps will be no longer as it was in the past. Angelini has made incredible strides in reforming the Training Corps to meet the needs of creating America’s next generation of combat soldiers. They will be better educated, and will be provided better mentoring than they ever were before. We must actively recruit America's next generation of soldiers in-game to get them the battle training they need to help secure our nation and to make sure we have a new generation of combat soldiers to help protect this nation not just at home, but around the globe.

So to summarize my platform on education, we need to:

1. Actively recruit enthusiastic citizens to act as mentors.
2. Create new and informative training documents that are easily accessible and understandable to new players.
3. Recruit new members for the Training Corps and ensure they are prepared to be the eUSA's next generation of soldiers.

This now concludes my epic novel/presidential platform. I think we have an unprecedented opportunity at this point in time to change the eUSA for the better and to make real progress in improving the lives of our average citizens. At the same time I think we can also increase American prestige and power around the globe. With your help I am confident that we can not only change this country, but change the eworld this presidential election. Stay tuned for my VP pick....
