Joran's Actual Congress Campaign Platform

Day 482, 16:06 Published in Israel Israel by Joran

Alright, as I mentioned in my previous article, I really didn't want to write this until after I had been chosen as a congressman based on the merits of my existing actions. Turns out that I have to write it before I run, or it won't be considered official, and no one will get to look at it on election day. So with that in mind, here goes:

Why I am running - I'm running for the Knesset because of the two things I believe: that every eIsraeli has an opinion, but they must also put their money where their mouths are.

I have made a lot of comments, written a lot of articles, and spoken a lot in the chat on things that need to be changed in eIsrael. But it's very easy to make suggestions when one doesn't know the realities behind the situation. The triumphs of having a proposal passed through the Knesset, the agonizing defeat as one is voted down. The new and exciting ways that I can help the average eIsraeli, I want to know what it's really like to be in Congress.

That being said, here are some things you should know about me:

I am active

I'm on pretty much all the time, apart from when I am asleep and Shabbat. You can find me in the cbox (http://webchat.quakenet.org) (The channel is eRepublik.Israel) most hours of the day, and i'm always willing to talk to anyone.

I've seen all the sides of the argument

I've been a factory owner, a low productive worker, a high productive worker, a raw materials man and consulted with the owners of finished products. So I can understand the underlying reasons why , just as a random example, Hufflepuff wanted to lower food taxes while Sadeh is dead set against the idea. And so too, although I plan to uphold the standard IWP economic platform (high import taxes on grain and finished products while allowing for the free trade of other raw materials), I plan to speak with the other members of the Knesset to see if we can work out a general idea of what is best for eIsrael. This also applies for other countries: I support, and am willing to talk with the representatives of ANY eCountry, on how the relationship between eCountries can be improved.

I've given back
eIsrael is a fast developing country, but that doesn't mean that we should leave it at its current pace. I believe that every eIsraeli citizen ought to donate to the general welfare of the country. I know that I have, especially for the purpose of...

I support the building of Infrastructure
As mentioned above, I support peaceful dialogue with all of our neighbours, but I also recognize that realistically, eIsrael must build up defensively. I support Buzzy's efforts to raise the money to obtain Q5 facilities and encourage all eIsraelis to do the same.

Finally, I believe in the power of the media

Even when I had nothing else in eIsrael, I had my newspaper. I know I have said this a lot throughout the platform, but I can never stop extolling the benefits of ensuring that everyone in eIsrael has a voice and that that voice is listened to. Regardless of whether or not I win the election, I plan to do something within the next month to help encourage the development of new writers in eIsrael.

Anything that I have missed can be asked below. Remember that no matter who is elected, we are all eIsraelis and must all work together as equals to help the country grow. Am Yisroel Chai!
