JohnSmith 2K9 for President of Ireland in August, Economy updated
JohnSmith 2K9
Now that we have North Dakota; a High Grain Region for 80 Gold per month: which is a massive improvement on the 200 Gold or even the ludicrous 500 Gold US was looking for it up front.
Under my Government, I want to ensure the Irish Economy becomes more important, and hopefully a dominant one compared to other small nations.
I will set up a committee with a representative from each party: This will improve the variety and more representative of every individual in this wonderful society.
They will look into the likes of Taxes and Government Funding to see what could be or should be modified, to make sure that the State has enough money in circulation to accomplish what it needs. Our plan does not include cutting down on workers capital which is dearly needed during these gold ridden times of V2 Rising. I will also make sure the Monetary Market stays consistent and does not come under a major attack this month and, if it does; that we can handle it and restore stability.
Another thing I wish to do if I win is, to send some of the cash from the Banc to the private Presidential Org – to which only the President will be able to access; but will certainly not spend it. It will donate any necessary funds to Banc when it is needed.
The benefit of this is to make sure if, in the eventuality that the Banc gets hacked, we will still have some money in a private reserve. This will also make sure that the British or anyone else for that matter will not know our full stockpile of money.
The Presidential Org will contain close to 50% (approximately) of the total available funds.
I also want to make sure we have a Budget, and that we must try and stick to, so not to go crazy with spending.
I also want to keep up the Fund Program; to get loans for people to import and export goods to / from Ireland.
We as a country make approximately 300 Gold per month (according to Moo’s Statistics)
Firstly 80 Gold will be used to fund North Dakota (goes to the US Government).
100 Gold is used to make an MPP (Mutual Protection Pact or Alliance) with a nation. (USA, Poland, or other)
That leaves the Irish State 120 Gold.
This can then be divided up into:
12 x 10 Gold Packages
16 x 7.5 Gold Packages
24 x 5 Gold Packages
This will be used for State Loans (to Start-up a Company), Grants (for Export Licences) and other uses:
Such as funding the new Happiness Initiative; costing approximately 40 Gold initial investment
20 Gold into a new or acquired Grain Company in North Dakota (Training Company)
20 Gold into a new or acquired Food Company (Training and Happiness Boosting Company)

Very nice, Vote JSK!
Altho loans are great, how do you expect to fund the war against the UK to ensure that Ireland survives the next month? With limited amounts of GOLD as it is, is it logical to be lending out GOLD?
The GOLD being on a Presidential ORG, how does this prevent something like IBhoy happening again? what if its noticed that the ORG had been hacked, nobody can access to atleast salvage something? atleast with the Banc they can? Again this is 5G wasted.
How can you account for 300G coming into Ireland, when last month the economy was all but dead, so we certainly didnt generate 300G, how does these factor into your plans?
Ide like to point out for those not lucky enough to be on IRC, that Johnsmith2k9, was approached about the 3 questions I asked, and decided just to emo quit...
Pressure is a bad thing eh?
Sometimes saying nothing in the face of insults (there were quite a few subtle or not) is often seen as taking the high road, not succumbing to pressure. And just to try at your questions.
1. with limited amounts of gold it does make sense to lend some out and stimulate the economy. We need jobs, and with limited tax reserves we can not support the entire nation through state labor. By making loans, which are expected to be repaid, we allow new businesses to start, competition and wages to rise, and so on to other good things ha. Versus the UK were kind of screwed right now regardless. Having weapons for the take back will be important, but not more so than coordinating with allies.
2.The Presidential org I think may be more of an attempt to block angry ministers (remember that coup not too long back?) ((I love you BB : ))) Having our cash in two locations wont protect against a rouge CP, but then again what could?
3.I think the 300 gold is based on the 200 or so gold we pulled in in 19 days. if thats two thirds of the month then it would be safe to assume there is another 100 coming in for the whole 30 days.
4. Vote JJD!
Please do not forget to lower the minimum wage to at least 0.10. A high minimum wage means poorer low-level players due to unemployment. When the minimum wage is higher than a worker's productivity, the private sector would never hire that worker. If the government wants to increase the welfare of these new players, it can put wage offers at 0.25 in the market without changing the minimum wage, so that the new players the government can't employ can at least find a job and work towards the HW medal, instead of earning no money.
This is called the Insider-Outsider trade-off of minimum wage: Those who are employed benefit. Those who are not lose. If you don't trust me, read a starter level text in macroeconomics.

@Octavious - Not really for you to answer, however, wouldnt simply the president not knowing all the passwords, and it being upto each ministry to set there passwords, mean that another IBhoy couldnt happen be a better option?
Snake what are you at, JSK didnt once comment or spam your cp article and here you are doing it on his. Tbh im not sure why you are doing this
This isnt spam, this is a bunch of questions based on his article, which im sure many will want to know the answers to. Ide be asking the same if I wasnt running in the elections. People are more than welcome to question me.
Yeah but snake he didnt go posting loads of stuff on your article as there is others out there that answer the peoples questions. Also you know if people want to know something they will ask.
If he is elected I will be serving as one of johns vice presidents. I do not claim to speak for him but I have some insight into what he is speaking of. And the minister idea is interesting, but wouldn't potential inactivity be a real risk? Unfortunately enough some people just drop off from time to time.
Some bad smells coming from this article. I hate to add fuel to the fire but yet again I see very little actual policy.
It's all well and good saying you support a budget, but I want to know where that money will be going - what areas are your priorities? You mentioned loans and Mpp's, but what about state industry or the IDF? What are your plans for them as a whole, let alone what you want to spend on them?
Spreading money to the Taioseach's org reduces the risk of a minister stealing the gold yes, but not that of the President. At the start of the term a solid budget should be created, and the excess sent to the treasury. No half measures.
Good luck in the election JSK, and if you are elected, i sincerely hope your performance is better than your manifestos predict it will be.
Dubh, I understand your points. However I have yet to see any truly specific numbers from any candidate in my time spent in erepublik. Not to say we shouldnt have them, its a bit unfair to ask for it from one and not the others (I havent checked the others, im about to go to sleep so if you have made the same complaint sorry)
State industry should be made self reliant, dump the excess, which from my previous experience was quite a bit, and bring in some money from foreign markets. Keep to the V1 practice of training, and providing military supplies, not supporting the job market for the country. Do this, and with reasonable taxes we should be able to manage. As far as the IDF goes I dont think we need more upgrades. Weapons supplies, handled by industry, should really be our only concern. So with that we need only pay base wages to produce weapons assuming CO's can get the enlisted to work for cheap.
Sending the money to the treasury is a great idea, and I think the only reason it hasnt been done is because of the whole romania thing. I wasnt around for it, but I still hear about it from time to time. If we are confident no PTO can take hold I support this measure.
