Welcome all to the great state of Louisiana! From Baton Rouge to New Orleans, from Shreveport in the northern border to Dulac in the southern Bayou, from the Spanish Quarter, Bourbon Street, le café du monde, and Jackson square, welcome to the great state of Louisiana. Ours is a proud history of hard work, enduring hope, service, and of course knowing how to have a damn good time!
I decided to run for Congress because I’ve fallen in love with this great nation and I feel driven to service. This would be my first term in Congress, and this will be my first election. However while I lack in some experience, I believe that it is my passion for public discourse and public policy that will make me an effective and hard working legislator, not be a umptininth term congressman. I am a student of economics and a lover of history. I am an avid researcher and thinker; I spend most of time behind my desk reading, writing notes, or deep in thought.
Through my time in the New World and in the great nation, I have read the forums, news articles, and the wiki almost daily. Through my endless research and thought process that I described previously, I have formed the opinions and policies that make up my platform below, I hope you enjoy it.
Military and Defense:
-As an in game Lieutenant, I have seen enough fighting to understand what must be done. We must keep our fortress states strong. Florida and California must remain strong. We must remain to learn from our mistakes and fund a National Defense grid that will prevent any future assaults on our borders. I hope we will be able to create a third fortress state while I’m a congressman, wherever it may be. We also need to broaden our recruitment as much as we can.
Foreign Policy:
-We are still at war with PEACE, and we must strive for the cause of Liberty. We must remember that no great wars were won by a single nation. Therefore we must maintain our alliances with EDEN and the Broliance. We must even consider joining EDEN. We must finally remember that no group has ever achieved world domination. It is almost as if there is a spirit of Liberty, giving us the strength to win. We must use this strength, unite, and win the day.
Economics:
-I recall one of the great sons of Louisiana, James Carville. He was the first to say “It’s the Economy, stupid!” As a student of Economics, I believe that a strong economy is the basis for any success in the Military, in Foreign Policy, and in Domestic Tranquility. We must maintain a Tax System that enables Free Trade as much as possible. I feel we must encourage mutual Free Trade with our Allies in EDEN, as I feel it will maximize the GDP for every member nation, and thus create the largest amount of Government revenue to use in our cause for Liberty and Domestic Prosperity. I hope to be able to enter in a discussion with our Member nations that will lead to a solid EDEN Free Trade Agreement in my potential tenure in Congress.
Domestic Policy:
We need to have a proactive government that will aid new members and create them in to the future Generals, Capitalists, and Statesmen of tomorrow. We need to have a mentor and military recruiter assigned to each new member, and I believe Congress should set the example. Congress Members should each serve in the mentor program. This I believe will help progress the mentor program and remind congressmen and women why they are serving, so that our youth may have a better future
In Conclusion, I would like to thank you for reading my platform. I know it is long, but I feel that the fate of our Nation deserves more than just the ten word answers some politicians give. I would also encourage you to vote this November the 25th, as I believe that in these times we must make sure that our fate is in the hands of the many, not the few. Hopefully I will be able to serve this great state in Congress and together we can create a “more perfect union.”

In 1 more day I will reach lv 6 and be able to join a political party and vote. Although my original plan was to join AAP and vote for their candidate, I have always felt that you should vote for the person you think will do the best job. I believe you have many good ideas, and could probably achieve them. I look forward to see who else will run for the congress seat in my home state. Even if on election day I do not vote for you in the end, I wish you good luck in your campaign.

Great citizens of Louisiana, I have known some of you for many months and while you may or may not have supported me I'm telling you that this fine candidate deserves your vote. He will work twice as hard for you as I did. Good luck James, go get 'em!

I just hope you know Q5 DSs aren't worth the money you spend on them until you've got about 2000 people in a state.

These two statements are in conflict. We don't have the population to fully support a third fortress right now, so all you'd be doing is weakening the other two fortresses if you built a third.
Well, I believe soon we will have a situation that requires a Third Fortress state and will make it practical. This is because our population is growing and people are still migrating. I hope that when this need arrives, that I can be of service if in Congress.

Wow, for all of the reading you've done there are some big problems with your platform. As Astra said above, no way on a third fortress state anytime soon as our active population has in fact decreased since the war of liberation.
Tariffs are set for all countries, there is no way to make alliance based Import taxes. Free trade has been worked on for months with zero result, most countries want to protect their manufacturing base and prop up wages hence high Import taxes on all RM they have and all manufacturing products they produce. Our tax stance is one of the reasons we have one of the lowest real wage levels in eRep.
As a RL New Orleans native and resident, former Congressmen, Economic Council Member and current Sgt in the eUSMC, I hope you do a better job with your research in the future.
Well, I know that it has been hard to negotiate free trade with other nations, as most are worried about local business. However, I feel that mutual free trade within nations is essential for future domestic prosperity. Therefore, if elected, I will not give up on free trade and will fight for it as long as it is needed. I hope to help negotiate with other nations so that we can have mutual free trade.

Why? Without using our RL bias for free trade please explain why lowering our Import taxes benefits the Nation, consumers, and business owners in eRep.
I believe the market will aid us. In free trade, the market will push nations and provinces towards specialization of goods we have an advatage in, this means the whole group of trading nations will have more of every good. And under free trade we encourage interdepence, which I feel will aid in future domestic prosperity. This is simply my opinion and I'm running on it.

With manufactured goods there are no advantages to specialization. Everyone is on the same level, and with the Org and donate method everyone buys RMs globally at the cheapest global gold price. You failed to answer the question, how does free trade help the Nation (dependent on Income Taxes), consumers, and domestic business owners?
