It's the economy, stupid! PJK for Congress
Paul J Keating
I seek your support in the upcoming congress elections.
Those who have read my newspaper or contributions to senate discussion will know that my primary interests lie in the economic aspects of this game. If you’re a wage earner and buy food and weapons from the market you may have noticed that you can buy more and more these days. The Senate has played a significant role in this economic advancement, by keeping import tax at a reasonable level while reducing income tax and VAT from 15% to 10% without compromising the government’s budget position.
I’m not claiming credit for this, each proposal required a 50% + 1 majority so it is the Senate as a whole who has delivered these economic improvements only made possible by successive terms of responsible fiscal management by the executive government. I just played my part as an active contributor and supporter of these improvements, and personally proposed the VAT reductions.
There are those who deride the Senate as a divisive, argumentative group of role-playing “Kids” participating in never-ending political point-scoring and personal vendettas. There may be an element of truth to that, but I look at the market, I look at the improvement in the economic well-being of our country, and I feel no shame at the contribution i have made to Senate deliberations on these key issues. I have made mistakes and done my best to fix them, I have focused on the issues that matter to my constituents and avoided those that bear no productive results.
I hope you will support me to continue in that role. Should you support me for another term, I will continue to monitor the effect of the recent tax policy changes, and should economic and fiscal conditions permit will propose further tax reductions, as I believe there is scope to reduce tax further.

Paul's economic analysis both in his newspaper and in the Senate is a valuable contribution.
Paul's analysis was a major contributor to the taxation cut passed recently by the Senate. Without this analysis it would have been harder to convince Senators that it was possible to deliver a budget surplus and cut taxation without cutting ADF funding, and hence would have made it harder to pass the taxation cut.
Paul is a very valuable member of the Senate and I hope that he remains one for a long time.
I strongly support Paul J Keating to continue his role in the senate.
A valuable colleague he is and an asset to this great nation.
You go you, Peanut butter Jelly King! 😛
