ISP-IUP Merger is OFF

Day 1,702, 06:29 Published in Ireland Ireland by Gerald Smyth

Hello everyone,

Recently Andrew M. Baker left the IUP Party and headed for the States. I must now conclude that the ISP-IUP merger is OFF.

There was lot's of drama around this event which was silly and unneeded. I think many thought that this was a hijack from the opposing political ideology (The Family v. Leftists). No, this was presenting a viable third option from the usual Progressive versus Labour argument. Talking with people from both parties, people either never responded to me and the few that did were in favor of the merger.

Most of the controversy came from outside of the party with fears of this new Party may actually make a difference in Irish politics.

Many felt it was the death of the IUP as we knew it. It was not. If anything it was taking the IUP, one of Ireland's oldest and most cherished parties, and making it something again along with the values of true Irish Socialism and not the thing the last few party presidents of the ISP presented.

The merger is now off, however I invite Bhane for the coalition to continue. Both parties are about the same size and juggling to try to stay at Number 5 for the Congressional elections. If one can't get there, I hope that the other will support the IUP/ISP candidates in their respected region. It's the smaller parties that should band together to present a reliable third option. Not the smaller parties clasping on to the big ones.

Later I'll release an article concerning the Irish Socialist Party and Congressional elections. To my dear Party members: the main platform has failed, what more do you want to see?

Also let's "thank" Andrew Baker for making plans for his party and then getting up and leaving for personal gain. He's a new player but you know. (By the way he claims to be referred by me, he never used my referral link)

The Presidential elections will certainly be interesting, currently we're supporting Ronisu because out of the ones presented, he's the best option. However, this isn't the final decision. What do my party members think?

Any further questions I'm happy to answer,
