eRepbulik is a game full of opportunities. For far too long, the eUK has been limiting itself in these opportunities. We have focused on the game modules; the mechanics which run them and how to best use them. Sadly, these modules are not as limitless as the other driving force in eRepublik – the community. There is only so far you can go with the mechanics, but with a community, the possibilities are endless.

When eRepublik is sizzling with international diplomacy and world wars, focusing on the game mechanics is suitable. It keeps the eUK alongside the other nations in terms of military capability and economic growth. However, when eRepublik reaches a period of stagnation – a period I believe we are experiencing at the moment – we cannot rely on game mechanics to provide entertainment. We have to make our own fun.

The eUK has roughly 7500 citizens, 5273 of which are on the forums, along with 100 consistently on #euk. With so many people who are willing to contribute, why have we been stifling them for so long – repressing them through out desire to follow the game mechanics.

What we need more than anything right now to get us through these times of stagnation is discussion. We do not need a pointless War, we do not need a change in taxes and we certainly don’t need anymore political takeovers.

I believe it is up to the government to create these opportunities for discussion. Open the floor up to the every day citizen, provide them with the information on how the country currently works and then give them a platform to discuss how we can improve it. We don’t have any current events to focus on, so we might as well focus on the issue that is the most important of all; our country. Discussion breeds involvement, involvement breeds community and community breeds ideas and, most importantly, solutions.

Let’s take this opportunity to look at our Country as a whole, reassess where we are right now, and how we can move forward.

Is this all there is? Not if I have anything to say about it.
