Is Erepublik fair for new players? Players are forced to buy gold to advance

Day 3,910
Top players dominate while weak ones can't do anything about it
When logging into Erepublik and doing your daily orders you always find the high level players dealing the most damage in battles. Now this would not be a problem if the difference wasn't so enormous. The top players in this game deal tens of millions worth of damage on a daily basis in every battle while new players have absolutely no way to respond. New players make almost no difference in wars as battles are usually won by just two or three legends like this player called Romper.
Is gold the only answer for new players?
After looking for different ways for new players to start thriving in this game there aren't many options for them besides buying gold with real money. You could try to upgrade your companies to maximum levels and slowly build up your wealth but the cost of that is very expensive and the process of that takes very long. Players are forced to either grind their way up or use their credit card to make their virtual citizens advance faster. I'm personally trying to save up and grind because spending real money on a browser game just doesn't make any sense to me.
Too much pay to win hurting the Erepublik community?
We all know Erepublik is a business and the owners of this game want to make more money but is that good for trying to keep the game fair and playable for everyone? New players are lacking in resources to do any difference in this game forcing them to quit playing because they have no chance to fight back. The game community will slowly start dying since there isn't enough interest for new players to join a game where they make no difference in the most important aspect of the game which is fighting in battles. The game is now dominated by players that have spent many years of their life clicking the fight button and buying more gold. Has Erepublik gone too far on pushing the pay to win system for us? Only time will tell.

Is Erepublik fair for new players?
"game fair and playable for everyone"
depends on how much cheating you are willing to do, if you aren't going to spend RL monies on this game. With enough multis reaping rewards, you then can afford cronies like Andy Dufresne to defend you
I thought having many accounts is against the game rules?
that is why it is called cheating
back in the day if you wanted to play in congress you where expected to have at least one extra account, how do you think congress was rigged and has been able to stay so stagnant along, and the catch praise is something to the affect; it has worked for all these years why change it. Ask Andy Dufresne, he has been part of congress junta along and if he is able to be honest, he will verify mutlis set up system and have made sure it runs smoothly no matter what
Is this is only the answer - multies?
depends on the question, but concerning how congress got to be so stale, it is a fair answer
And what is relation between Congress activities (multies can rule the Congress, it is true, but this is scumbag's way) and multi account presence? You tell me that unfair way is right strategy here?
By the way, define "Congress to be stable" please.
I think you have run into language barrier, I use sarcasm a lot.
Congress is stable because the same group of players are always in control and have set up system to keep them their. Example, you have to agree not to make any proposal until your party's congress caucus votes on it, which almost always disapproves of any changes what so ever, in the off-site constitution that is used to keep the group that wrote it and ratified it in power. Said constitution is vague enough to allow them to run things as they see fit without allowing it to be changed. Total bs
Тhere is no language barrier. We simple we talking about the same thing, starting from different levels of intellect, life experience, and mostly use different arguments to prove two very close points of view.
I say that multis may transform Congress to a circus, you explaining how this can happens 🙂
No, it’s not fair. The oldest and most monied accounts will have the most sway everywhere.
The only place to get involved as a new player is in congress or media, it seems.
Also air battles.
I agree with the air battles. That's the only way I've been able to do the daily orders.
Greetings, it would be interesting to have an article on how he built his great empire.
I agree with the OP and @Derphoof. This game is far too pay-to-win for my liking, and I'm "9" years old. I have bought some gold, especially recently having taken several years off due to RL. However, there is no real way to get ahead without spending a great deal of real money.
This is actually very similar to Tribal Wars. Unless you are willing to spend a large quantity of real money there is no way to beat the ones who do spend money, which removes all the fun. I actually quit playing Tribal Wars the last time more because of this than because of the RL stuff that disconnected me from eRepublik.
And when I quit, the eUSA was at least owner of the territories that is the actual USA, rather than being occupied by everybody and their mother... but that is a different rant. 🙂
At any rate, I think this game is either going to die or there will be a few players who stay forever and a huge turnover in new players. Almost like retail and restaurants in real life. The "management" and "owner" levels will stay, and the average "worker" levels will get replaced every few months.
And I forgot to mention things like "Kill Contests" that are as biased toward the higher levels, too.
"The game community will slowly start dying..."
This is what Nassim calls as "postdiction" as opposed to a prediction.
Activity is what you make of it. Yes, as a newer player, you are not going to be much of an influence on the battlefield, but if you get active in the community (Party or MU) you can become an influence. It is up to you, the player, to find the niche that you best fit.
The key to the game is to extort other players into giving you hold and Ice creams...I thought you already figured this out???
Record has been changed! I Endorsed this article. 🙂
Game indeed is hard and less motivational for new players, since there is no true gap to top players. They just keep climbing and climbing on this endless route.
