Introducing myself
Sheredyn Artiles
Hello everyone o/
I’m Sheredyn Artiles, formerly known as Fran Artiles. I used to be a Spanish citizen a few hours ago. Since I’ve been bored of this game for several months, I decided to try something different and check how this works in other countries, so I may return to activity in a serious way. A friend recommended me Belgium: different size, different politics, different goals, different point of view… a whole new world
😛
I hope I can help Belgium keep growing, and more importantly, to have fun. After all this is a game, and games are supposed to be fun.
About my experience and credentials, I think the points I should highlight are:
-I was the ‘’main-most popular journalist’’ in Spain for several months, being usually at the Top 1, winning several awards, and being very close to getting the Media Mogul medal (I didn’t make it because I stopped writing when I had 800 subscribers).
-My works at journalism gave me the chance to enter politics. In different months, I worked in several positions: Minister of Communication, Director of the CIS (Center Of Sociological Investigations, used for surveys), congressmen, assistant in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and CoMinister of Foreign Affairs with Mininuns (although I must admit he was the one doing almost all the job haha).
-Also I tried once to be CP in Spain. I didn’t succeed, but It kind of makes me proud I finished second (in a country with so much players and parties as Spain, that’s something; not much, but something).
Finally, I want to ask a few questions about Belgium. I would be very grateful if any of you could answer me in an impartial way, although I understand it may long or just not easy to answer, or the topics may be sensitive:
1-How is the political situation inside Belgium? What defines the main parties? Is there risk of TO in any party or in the country itself??
2-How are the relations of Belgium with other countries? (In general, but especially with: Poland, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, UK, Ireland).
3-How does the military organization work? Is the damage concentrated in the National Army or spread in the diferent military units?
Just one more thing: please excuse me for any mistake I make while writing, I’m still learning English.
And that’s all, folks! I hope I can help. See you around! o/

-We have a balanced political system where everybody has a party sweeting to his gameplay. HOPE and Panda are the annoying parties of Belgium.
-Belgium is a member of CoT, so has good relations with Germany, France and NL. We are also good with Poland and UK since we're doing tw with them for a long time.
-Most of our units are fighting in accordance to CoT orders. We have a national MU which has supplies and an organisation on irc.
annoying because they are PTO parties
@PANDA and HOPE haha
Well, France invades us from time to time so I wouldn't say we've very good relationships 😛.

Nice introduction, welcome to our eCountry
Welcome in eBelgium and i hope you will have fun along us 🙂
Nice intro.... About your questions: you'll see quickly enough for yourself ... 🙂
Anyway, I approved your CS app. so welcome to eBelgium, good luck and have fun.
1-How is the political situation inside Belgium?
We have a government where most of the biggest parties cooperates. HOPE/PANDA consitututes the unloyal troll opposition (they launch random proposals, and don't respect immigration law)
What defines the main parties?
RB is the biggest party, there is everything in it. From most experienced to 2 tons of 2clickers.
TBD is the youngest of the main parties, in fact it has a lot of young players in it.
HOPE is the troll party of Belgium, they have a policy of open immigration and they use voting accounts.
ATO/UU are similiar, in that they're relatively small, but with a lot of active players in congress and government. They work to have stable top5 parties, in collaboration with bigger parties.
Is there risk of TO in any party or in the country itself??
Yes, the last PTOs attempts were from Iran, Macedonia and Croatia. The open immigration policy of HOPE makes foreign PTOers to easily enter the country (they give congress medal to foreigners in exchange of increased vote and party membership).
2-How are the relations of Belgium with other countries? (In general, but especially with: Poland, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, UK, Ireland).
Traditionally Belgium is friend with Switzerland, UK, Venezuela and sometimes Moldova. Belgium is in CoT and it is friend with every country in there. Good relations also with other TWO countries, but mainly Poland, Spain, Hungary. Netherlands are also friend.
France tries to conquer us from time to time. There is also suspicion towards Romanians and Greeks, because of past PTO attempts.
3-How does the military organization work? Is the damage concentrated in the National Army or spread in the diferent military units?
The State military is based on 3 armies:
-the National Army, for d4/d3/d2 soldiers deals most of the Belgian damage, (50% in d4 and d2, 60% in d3)
-the Civilian Army, for everybody, is where people go when they don't know where to go,
-the Boot Camp, is for newbies, low damage but they tank as the National Army (80% of d1 damage)
The private sector is dominated by Green Militia, small MU of experienced players who want more activity than in the National Army (30% danage in d4)
Then there is the HeadHunterz, the MU of the HOPE party. It is know for its incredible increase in activity during election days. Another party based MU is the tiny Labor Guard.
Then there are Armed Forces, also known as the Zombie Army, is the former State MU, but it is almost exclusively made of dead players or one clickers. Finally, the personal Armies of the lovely tommot and the obscure Jeiry.
"obscure" ?
Hahaha 😃

Welcome Sheredyn !!
Glad to see one more active media writer over here. Hope you'll find that "difference" you're searching for.
Welcome, nice to see new arrivals introducing themselves. 🙂
Question: why change your name? I like the name, i am just wondering. 🙂
My previous name ''Fran'' was created in order to honour something that no longer exist. My new name is to adopt a new ''role''. As you can she, both my avatar and the main pic of my newspaper look alike. I'm now a ''Sheredyn'' (I took it from a sci-fi universe). But since everyone in Spain knows me as ''Artiles'', I considered adecuate to keep that name.
lol
Welcome o/
well they answered your questions, don't worry about english, i will invite you in my club "no good english".
Welcome : )
Ely. you still angry cuz I told you your English is bad? 😛
lol no i know it : ) don't worry
Oh no, competition in journalism!!! 😉

Welcome
A brief recap of eBe at socio-political level? I'm in 🙂
eBelgium is a tiny nation with a tiny community (you'll see that having an important role in it is quite easy 😛). As all tiny countries in this game we are very disadvantaged and easily dominated, which forces us to make a choice: or take part of the wargame and taking the (gigantic) risk of being permawiped or being friends with everybody, rendering the war-based game utterly boring in this country, already not really atractive because of the low bonuses.
Now what eBe did was imo quite smart, they chose for the second option and invested in the community itself, making bonds tighter between players, reinforced by the fact we have to stay united to stand a chance against the bigger countries, which created an unique atmosphere. This coupled with the well-maintained friendship with other countries often attracts players that need a change and aren't especially focussed on the competitive side of eRep. Those players are more often than not kind, active and constructive, thus always reinforcing the eBelgian community. Examples are MaryamQ from the eUS, El1teBe from Macedonia, Alexandross from Hungary, Tony Clifford the eSwiss/Italian and many more. On top of that we had players attached to the community that want to try the competitive side (again) and immigrate in neighbouring countries, where they often get political influence and reinforces the eBelgian defences. So, in short, our main defence to keep our territory are our strong relations with our neighbors, maintained by ex-eBelgians and foreigners that like us.
The downside is that from a game-mechanical point of view, eBelgium is boooooring. eRep is mainly based on rivalries, and as we prevent foreign rivalries we tend to create ours ourselves (unconsciously) to spice up. These are then more often people that would like to engage eBelgium politically or even see it PTO'ed or wiped for the sake of it. Seen from afar, those rivalries seem childlike and you see the "enemies" in eBe are often not real enemies. But when plunging in the middle of it some players tend to take the whole thing too seriously, and that sometimes causes not-so-funny consequences where things get serious and insulting. Yup, just like children, even if some of us put immense efforts in looking serious and responsible, go and read our Congress debate on forums, it looks serious and stuff but once you know the players better (IRC) you'll find out it's all bullsh*t 😛 . so just see eBelgium as a huge sandbox for children and remind yourself to be playful, never take anything too seriously or personally, and I assure you you will like this country. 🙂
Wow... very good explanation about the happenings in eBe 🙂
I disagree about one thing tho, I don't think eBe is boring. I've been in countries that have many wars and lots of activities in diplomacy and stuff. They have big populations, yes, but it's all a bit chaotic. In many countries nationalism dictates the gameplay, which I despise. Belgium s' small community has made tighter bonds between players and I like this the most and find it most appealing. Yes, eBe hasn't got a lot of wars on its own, but you can find a lot of wars on the war page, this is not a disadvantage for eBe imo. The greatest and most important thing eBe has is the cool community and the closeness of the people. That has been the case in my time here and I hope it will continue. 🙂
Sure eBelgium isn't boring overall 😃 Just "from a game-mechanical point of view," and with that I mean you won't often have the suspense of conquering or being conquered 🙂
Well, you've got a point there. But, eBe being eBe, offers what it offers to the players and I think the majority of the population is okay with how things are going. The ppl that are here for long time are not bothered by the lack of war, again, imo. Anyway, everyone that has a thirst for the militaristic aspect of the game can always change CS and seek the glory of war in some of the bigger countries... Yeah, it's nice to be able to conquer, but have to be ready to be conquered as well. That's the Janus face of war... I'll give one example: my RL country Macedonia. It was once an empire spreading on 3 continents, at one time it had 10/10 resources and even dared to single-handedly take on a superpower like the USA, on their ground. But look at it now, wiped for a long time now... 🙂 Is eBe ready to be wiped for a loooong time? I don't think so...
tell that to some of us, personnally I'm more than happy here. Headhunterz apparently not, they want to face Serbia/Poland in a campaign to restore countries like eNL/eCzech/eFrance etc, and there's a chance we'll be wiped for a looooong time if we do that 🙂
But there's not at least one enemy that eBe can defeat? I mean, with Air Strikes, you can attack distant enemies, that might be weaker than the closer ones...
eBe has always been a constructive ally in CoT. Following priorities and helping as much as it can. Seeing countries like Macedonia and Bulgaria being wiped, and others having troubles to secure congress, an eBe AS is largely ill-advised as it will bring even more damage drain for CoT. Maybe in some better times for CoT an AS would be an interesting idea and I'm sure there are a few countries eBe can take on easily 😃
to be honest I'm not even sure our small community wants to invest itself in an airstrike. even the cost of an airstrike is extremely high for such tiny community.
So, do you want Belgium to start an AGGRESSIVE WAR???!?!!?
!shout: PEOPLE! come here! there's a guy who wants Belgium to start a war!!
ROTFL
Another interesting thing of eBelgium is that French-speaking RL Belgians who want war, well, they may join eFrance, and Dutch-Speaking RL Belgians may, in the same way, join the Netherlands.
It is even easier for them, as they may use their native language with the other players! What is difficult for them, it is to find eFrance and eNetherlands on the map! XD
We would need 60k cc and 3.8 Mi energy. So if all active eBe give 1000 energy per day it would take 25 days to gather that. Considering a cost of 0.02 / 1 energy it would cost on the overall: 60 + 76 = 136 k cc (or about 600 golds). And of course 25 days.
Welcome 🙂
The Lulz is the answer!
Fire Squad is where the fun is 😉
