Interview with Dan/naD Wilshire

Day 2,428, 08:09 Published in Belgium Belgium by Gyantse

Dear readers, welcome to read my first interview. I interview a person that most of you know, he is previous eBelgian citizen and party president of Fire Squad. Currently he is citizen of eChile and one of commanders of Swiss National Army. My guest was Dan/naD Wilshire. We talked about game, his elife, MUs and things you can read below.

Could you tell us a bit about yourself for start?

I am an eighteen year old British lad. That about sums me up.

Where did you find this game, and what makes you to play it?

I was on some random game website playing some airport controller game when the advert for erepublik came up covering the sides of the screen. I was just like eh why not and clicked on it. I was contacted by a guy with a small political party and decided that I would stick around. I turn 5 in November so I guess you can all thank him for me sticking to the game in the early stages.

What is your favourite game module and why?

Economy before it was broken. Military just because I love MU’s. I used to abuse the Media module, but in the end it just died. Political is just full of trolls, nothing can be done without some sort of drama, it’s lost on me.

What would you change in game and why?

Nothing? Everything? I really loved V1, even V2. The game nearly lost me when it got rid of Worker Skill. I solely focused on Worker Skill over strength in V2, so when they got rid of it my greatest achievement was gone. But that’s in the past. Whatever gets changed, some people will love it, others will hate it. I’d only change something to keep my buddies playing the game.

You are one of commanders and founder of Swiss National Army. What you think are advantages and disadvantages of one MU, supported by state?

One major advantage of a government funded national army is that the money we pay in taxes comes back to us rather than accumulating in national accounts where it is useless. Another advantage is that you can directly connect your minister of education to the National Army which may help improve the retention of new players.

Disadvantages are that there can be a lack of trust, especially in setting up of communes with government money. Someone is always going to claim you cannot be trusted, that’s the only disadvantage I can think of.

You were also one of commanders of private MU - Funky Militia. Where are differences between private and state MUs?

Nothing other than you don’t have the burden of a state loan on your shoulders.

You were citizens of many countries. Which country stay in your memory as “the best”, why?

It has to be South Korea. Back in September 2010 I moved to South Korea. I decided that I wanted to set up a political party and try and become a big time player in epolitics (before that I was just a 2 clicker). A PTO occurred and the English speaking community there teamed up with the small Korean community to battle the invaders. For 7 months we banded together setting up Military Units, political parties, propaganda campaigns etc. It was just a great time with a great bunch of people. Sadly most of them have left the game, but South Korea has been the country where I had the most fun.

You were also a president. What you think is the most important virtue president need?

The most import virtue has to be a good sense of humour and, the ability to make a joke out of yourself. Trolls are everywhere, questioning your every step and making false claims. If you are unable to take these hits as jokes then you will have a highly stressful time as CP.

In your opinion what should be first steps of new players?

To find a mentor. I was lucky that one came to me. I try and do the same whenever I feel I can help someone. If you can find someone who could be your friend in the first day, maybe the first week, the game will be a lot more fun and interesting. Don’t neglect the use of the irc. It may be difficult at first, but in the end you will be grateful that you made the effort.

Below are 3 questions Dan gave to new players. It is like a quiz. I will give first 5 eBelgian D1 citizens who answer correctly 50 q5 food. You can help with wiki page.

The questions are:
⁂ How much damage do you have to do for your 19th True Patriot medal?
⁂ What is the 42nd military rank?
⁂ How much weapons raw material can a rubber plantation produce in a country with only 100% food bonus?

I would like to thank Dan for his time and answers, also to the readers and stay tuned because soon new interviews are coming.

Best regards,
Gyantse
