Interview with Bogdan Adamutz

Day 181, 13:59 Published in Romania Romania by Victor Thorian

It was a splendid day as I waited in Bogdan Adamutz's office. He was, as I've learned in my recent research of Romanian political system, one of the most successful mayors. I could see that looking out of the window as the city of Tiraspol was a beautiful sight indeed. Dniester River was ever flowing where the sun slowly drifted off to sleep and my romantic thoughts were interrupted by the Mayor's secretary.

Mr. Adamutz welcomed me kindly, and said good words about the newspaper. After this, I was expecting to ask questions to him and recieve well prepared answers, but he said that he considered me as a friend, so the conversation was most enjoyable and educational.

He explained the fact that he built parks, roads and a hospital with government's help in his term. According to him maintaining the population of Tiraspol while the other regions slowly degenerated was his biggest accomplishment. I could only agree, because I've seen by myself what happened if your population drop too low. He even made a big fish-small fish joke here.

As the editor of Kiev Reporter, it was my duty to ask him about the integration of new Romanians such as myself. The Mayor was optimistic about this. He said that we were given full citizen rights as opposed to much feared "second class people" status, better jobs with enough salary to actually spend on things other than food and taxes.

He also seemed a little anxious about the state of economy after the war, but he made it clear that he believed the recovery would be quick and Romania would be ready to face any threat ( it should be noted as he said this he was looking at the regions Norway conquered some time ago ) as whole nation was working as one to be one of the strongest countries in the world.

After this serious matters, we had some drinks together and he wished me good luck for my appointment with Prime Minister which will be published later this day.
