International eNews : Massive (suspected) Gold Laundering Scam Exposed

A massive (suspected) gold scam is believed to have been exposed yesterday as eSpain took on eItaly. It all started clean enough as eSpain took on a vulnerable Italy (which failed to have any MPP's with it's Peace allies). Then the gold started to roll in. eItaly started with tanking 50 of it's own & eIndonesian players, then eSpain followed by tanking it's top players plus paying the top eRomanian players to join the fight near the end. eIndonesia also tanked players from throughout Peace & sent gold laden players to the eItalian Alps and several other eNations also having gold enriched tanks rolling in.
In a range of financial networks involving front organisations & eSwiss chatrooms, each side clocked over 100k gold (& counting). And the finger pointing has begun. eIndonesians is screaming "evil" Atlantis, eHungary is whinging that eSpanish tanks have helped eRomania therefore eRomania should be penalised, cries of one sided Peace propaganda from the eAmericas, eRomanians (who've suddenly turned into "good" guys in the last two months after previous questionable PTO artivities) is showing dismay at both sides whilst stating that they thought that eSpain was only spending 3k of it's 8k gold reserve and eItaly eSpain are both hiding in a fox hole hoping that there'll be something remaining when they pop their heads back up
The admins have a hard task sorting out this mess. On the Atlantis side eSpanish organisations have already been implicated some some (temp) bans in place with eSweden & eUSA personel under suspicion. On the Peace side eItaly has been devastated with (temp) bans, eIndonesian personel & organisations likely to follow with eFrench eHungarian & ePortuguese personel under suspicion.

With the massive amounts of gold spent, either side could have come close to buying out the other party. However, I don't blame the parties involved. After all the admins have known about these activities for a long time & have ignored it. They're only taking (very limited) action due to this particular battle being an embarassment. Be assured, the exploit of gold creation will be allowed to continue & the eRepublik community will continue to be influenced by this activity.

But i don't understand where the illegal activity is happening. Why does this constitute temp bans? Making money and donating it is not illegal in the game sense, perhaps illegal within the nations - like funding terrorists, but why bans? I don't get it? How is the gold being raised? @Willem : It's not how gold is spent, it's how it was created in the first place. As I understand things, it involves making a purchase with a org & a bunch of fund transfers to create two lots of money out of one. I know exactly how it works in the real world but haven't researched to see how the mechanics of it works in this game but it'll be a flaw in the game.

@Simon : Tanking is essentially equiping the top players with max weapons, sending gifts etc so that they can be max damage. In truth, it possibly isn't very cost efficient.

@ AW, the flaw is in the monetary market I think, its something about posting it on the market and donating it in two different tabs simultaneously, or something like that.
