Infin for Senate in Queensland

Day 852, 05:59 Published in Australia Australia by infin

I am writing to seek your support for the Senate again this month in Queensland. So thought I would make a few comments about the state of the nation as I see it at the moment.

Senate-Cabinet relations

I have been working hard in the Senate for the last month and was heartened by the election of Cerb to Country President. He promised strong communication and good relationships with the Senate this month. Things started out well and I was happy to be working in cooperation with the Cabinet but things seems to have taken a downhill slide.

Over every other quality in a Cabinet I think excellent communication is the most important. eAustralians want to feel like they are in the loop, and that they are being listened to.

I congratulated Cerb and Wally Wilson at the time for their budget, it went a long way to curbing our government spending but then a bigger can of worms was opened up with regards to Government Funded Corporations. The issues of transparency and accountability became even more exacerbated when the Australian market was flooded with SA refugees and the government reacted by creating new GFCs with donated money - the only problem was no one thought to get Senate approval so that they could continue to be funded from Treasury.

I have no problem with providing jobs to workers, but companies which require funding from the taxpayer need to get Senate approval, that is a fundamental issue. I acknowledge the best intentions of the parties involved and that is why I voted no for sanction of Adam Creedy because what he did was for the best interests of the country but we need to follow good governnance when it comes to taxpayer funds. The Senate is that watch dog.

On a policy matter I was pleased with the war in South Africa for no other reason than the general populace's desire to fight. eRepublik after all is a game based on war. EDEN did not come to our aid in our time of need and now we need to re-evaluate the whole merit of the alliance. I can understand the withdrawl from the Malaysia MPP because our budget circumstances are tough at the moment, however the second equal priority for the government is to provide regular opportunities for war, and things have gone a bit astray there.

As to the foray into Indonesia, I don't know what was happeneing there. And no one from the Government bothered to explain the rationale to the Senate. I guess that's just the way it goes these days. If you as a voter do not like this then you can have your say at the ballot box - make your feelings heard.

Senate Legislation

I think we are presently swamped with legislation. I would like to drastically reduce the amount of legislation the Senate and Government have to deal with. Government and Senate need to focus on the key issues of positioning our country, military and economy as a global player. As Wally pointed out we are presently 7th in GDP and import taxes have worked fantastically to open our borders and our economy.

The Senate needs to work with the Government to ensure all our game mechanics issues are considered with the utmost of efficiency. I hope to see much less navel gazing/finger pointing and more focus on working to improve the country.

I have plenty of new policy plans for the ANP that will hopefully get Senators back to work instead of deciding who to have investigated next!

ANP Country President campaign

The ANP is running its preselection presently for Country President. We have four nominees: sir_c0nstant, Corey Blake, Adam Creedy and Guy Baumber. So the process from here is the ANP Council of senior members will vet the candidates, then we will hold a preselection in our forum and I hope to annonuce the successful ANP Country President candidate very soon.

We are developing a series of ANP policies for our CP candidate which are going to be of great interest to eAustralians. I think they will be very good for our country and stimulate a lot of economic activity. So watch the ANP News for an announcement very soon about some of our new ideas.

The ANP will be running a strong alternative for you to choose come the Country President campaign. We will have plenty of ideas and the people to deliver them.

Conclusion

The Senate is not so much about policy reform at the moment. Senators are too busy waging their vendettas presently. There is a lot of work to be done and I was confident that Cerb had the goods. This momentum seems to have slowed but I have not given up all hope and have plenty of ideas to share with the Government as do my fellow ANP teammates. To the government I say: "Pick up the phone and give me a call!" 🙂

Our Senate needs people who are active and good at communicating. I am always around on either IRC or the forums if you ever want to discuss ANP policies with me or want to talk about running as a candidate for the party. My promise to you the voters is I will be active and representing the views of middle eAustralia - the people the elites have forgotten.

The ANP is here to represent all eAustralians. We are not beholden to any faction or special interest group. We offer libertarian policy for businesses and workers alike where everyone can enjoy their freedom of choice.

Kind Regards,
infin
