After a truly nail-biting election many were on the edges of their seats as Wally Wilson and Paul Hamon fought it out to the bitter end, with the third candidate, Hinokai, trailing behind by a small but significant margin.

Hamon's controversial albeit seemingly effective campaign style of using mass private-messaging to harness votes gained him an early narrow lead over Wilson as "two-clickers" and newer citizens, who are generally the seven-time senator's target audience and most enthusiastic followers, voted for him but soon the votes started to quickly equal out as the incumbent prime minister gained votes from his supporters, military and government officials, as well as "élite" members of Australian society.

Suspicions of foul play arose when admin's removed several votes (5 for Hamon, 1 from Wilson and 4 from Hinokai) from candidates midway through the election but after that event voting became less erratic and election officials' neuroses were calmed.

As voting closed at midnight on the fifth (1900 Australian time, 0800 GMT) Wilson seems to have succeeded in winning a second term with the voting tally standing as the following:

However the new feature of an election committee to validate results means that the election will not be official until 0600 eRepublik time.

Thank you for reading and congratulations, Wally Wilson!
