In Brief: Election Results
TheBlackAdder
Another congress term comes to an end and we see the faces of the new senators.
This is definatly going to be an interesting term with so many new faces to the political scene.
Will they contribute or will they simply keep quiet, or have no presence at all, only time will tell.
So here is the results of the election in brief:
PARTY____SEATS___%__TOTAL CANDIDATES______%____VOTES___%
ACP________7_____17.5_________8_________ ____ 14.5______43_____12
ADSP______11_____27.5________15_________ ____ 27.3_____105____29.2
AIP_________7_____17.5________12________ ____ _21.8______65____18.1
ANP________8______20_________10_________ ____ 18.2______66____18.4
TBP________7______17.5________10________ ____ _18.2______80____22.2
As per the table above,
ADSP has the most seats of any party, but the margin is smaller than ever with only 3 more seats than the ANP.
The ANP has had a major ressurection with 8 seats, the second best result in the election!
The remaining major parties each got 7 seats.
The ACP is more popular than ever before securing 7 seats although securing only 12% of the votes.
ACP and TBP have both done well contributing a number of seats over their vote percentage, whereas the ADSP wasted a lot of votes with 51 votes to te new senator maclaren11.
This election raises a big question for us all, are our voters stupid?
The people with the best results are always the first person on the list for their party.
It could be said that the ADSP voters are the stupidest, had they voted more strategically they could have had a massive amount of seats, however hoards of the two clickers just chose the first candidate, is this really good for democracy? I urge everyone who reads this to THINK about how they vote.
Anyway I give you the figures, you can interpret them how you like
Note any inaccuracies are party due to the bug with the voting module at the time of writting and partly due to counting errors
PS. sorry for the table, thought it would display better, had to make a sub par text one 😒

Nice article TBA, especially outlining how parties should spread votes. Voted.
i noticed that too. its good for future reference i suppose
"This election raises a big question for us all, are our voters stupid?"
Not sure that's ever a good assumption for a politician to make, rather the possibility the voters are more inclined to vote for the individual they prefer and not blindly follow party politics aimed at gathering quantity over quality.
So perhaps the voters are smarter than you give them credit for 🙂
Able, that statement was meant to be taken with a grain of salt; more of an attention grabber than something I believe.
You make a point, but I dont think that is the case for the majority, how else would you explain a new comer, whose presentation or presence was not spectacular get 51 votes?
"That newcomer" had a presentation; if anyone else did they weren't visible to many voters. Asking around, I've got the answer that they 'voted for the only guy with a presentation' and that it was maclaren11.
If voters would prefer a complete unknown to the candidates they've heard of, calling them stupid is a really bad idea - finding out why they're annoyed is a far better one.
For some reason, Erepublik orders the candidates in how many votes they have received so far, the reason Jaz Razzle was at the top of the ANP's list in NSW. This means that they key to winning a senate seat is voting for yourself early in order to grab two-clickers' votes.
Bugger.
Great performance from the ACP actually...nice return present 😛
Iwarrior: Sadly that is the case...but how can it be helped?
