Impreach! - NOT
eSouth African Presidency
The impeachment of the President of South Africa failed.
Thank you to those who are prepared to ride out the air pockets as we reposition South Africa to address some endemic problems. To those who vote Yes, sorry for the turbulence, but I think you will appreciate the new view once we reach our destination. It is possible to carve a new future without destroying South Africa in a blind rampage.
To all South Africans, I understand that this whole Russian Rental issue is controversial. I even understand most of the sentiments floating about. I sought guidance from Congress and assured them that I would take full responsibility with the final decision. I do. Ultimately, it was my place to say yes or no. I chose yes.
Let us see where we started the term. South Africa was headed for another boring month. Other than Aus leaving NaN, we had nothing. The TW with Brazil was blocked by their Congress. The war of Uruguay was allowed by their Congress, but blocked by the people in Brazil who care more for bonuses than relations. We had nothing.
Along comes a desperate Russia. They asked Brazil for fear of offence and for a proper introduction. Brazil said it was up to South Africa to decide. Russia then asked South Africa nicely. It is a hare-brained scheme vulnerable to all sort of maleficence, but it has ancillary benefits not obvious in the actual deal.
I know Russia joined CoT over NaN, but the truth is NaN did not approach them fast enough and our offering is weak without a big country like China or Brazil also being on-board. It is an alliance problem that will take a lot of hard work and some luck (disillusionment with CoTWO is a good start). What we did with them in Atlantis and TERRA left strong ties. This region is stable.
Russia are a new member to CoT. The first thing we did in the meeting was question CoT SG's presence. We made it clear we are dealing with Russia and not CoT. We also asked them why they could not help their own members with Indo and Chile having so many duplicate resources. CoT left the meeting. I was initially a little offended that Russia spoke to Brazil before us, but I let it slide because:
1) from the outside South Africa appears occupied -- this is why we do not get more Air Strikes,
2) Brazil gave the right answer,
3) Russia and Brazil have a stronger relationship so it makes sense for them to be an intermediary to make introductions for another country they have a strong relationship with, and
4) there is real gain to be had here.
South Africa have a growing PTO threat. We were going to scale back to 3 regions anyway. Why not help someone while we do so?
Russia in South Africa have stirred the pot.
- Brazil need to be clearer about their relationships in the world stage. They are ROLA by the way. Not Pro-CoT, not pro-TWO, perhaps neutral. But ROLA first. This forces the issue to some degree.
- Brazil have competition for South Africa's affections if Russia manages to survive a TWO onslaught. Ménage à trois can be fun, or this could be a one-night stand. Only way to find out is by doing.
- TWO are suddenly keenly interested. This has opened up new MPP options for us, and alliance options if we ever feel the need to go there. Choices are not bad.
- CoT are thrown. Our invitation to Russia, but attitude to CoT have left them uncertain. Their bad member's nasty habits of threatening people to get their way is clearly starting to backfiring. I am looking at you Indonesia and USA.
The CoT-TWO war is not going to last long for various reasons. Now is the time to make the friends we want for the future who will sustain us through the aftermath.
Options are never bad.
Its the actual choices that get you.
Time to think of where you want to be and its actual value, South Africa. This roller-coaster is only just getting started.
The goals is:
One nation
One people
One vision
Amandla, Awethu. Power to the people.
Comments
The goal is one nation without traitors like you.
Go decide something more on your own, you don't need congress and we don't need you.
The title just reeks of subtle arrogance
Or a subtle pune. EMV.
there is no subtlety in it
The disclaimer stands.

No matter what he does, the anti-miyagis will pull it all apart.
Thank you for a good article. I guess having more options is always a good thing. But still dont think that us being a chew toy that 2 big dogs are fighting over gets us any less chewed.
Im actually FOR being fought for, it WILL benefit us. I wanted us to invite Indo to the table to compete against Brazil but Russia is fine too i guess.
Now please Miya, use this to milk those two of a better rent agreement. Tell the Brazil CP we are going to sell the regions to the highest bidder i.e. Russia, if they do not increase the rent price.
But of course since these two are buddy buddies they could negotiate to fuck us over by offering matching low rent payments, which is why i wanted Indo who would be reluctant to negotiate ANYTHING with Brazil.
It is simply unacceptable for me to be reduced to 3 regions, PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The options to me is simple, oppose the current situation. When the loss of 4 regions is unacceptable, it is even more so without 6 of our 9 regions. No way to make as if it is for our benefit, when we know we are being held at gun point, the moment we do not give them what they want we are wiped. WIPE over being yellow belly.
What gunpoint? Stop reading the trash columns and actually take in what transpired. You surely know Grim and I well enough to know we would never stand for being bullied in a meeting?
Because you want to believe we did this under duress does not make it so.
Was Grimstone in these negotiations?
Yes. SA delegation was Grimstone and I with Greekpwner observing.
You know what will happen when we say no to renting of any regions. Despite having great negotiators, as are you and Grimstone. IF you had said 100g for the regions, what would have been the outcome? Why else are we not getting 100g per region? They would pull the trigger, thats why.
So here's where the "plan" starts to form. Now clearly this situation is difficult as we have 2 factions.
Now you need to negotiate with your opposing faction. Not me, probably not Leon, but as a group. what you need to do, is figure out how this situation can be fixed inside the country. Work WITH them instead of seeing our points as obsolete and "radical."
Clearly Brazil is having too many problems to renegotiate with. If that's not an option, then we continue on our current path. I don't think anybody, Leon included wants to go to war with Brazil without a plan, HOWEVER, if you want a plan to succeed, you need to convince those living in constant fear of a wipe that "This could result in a wipe, but that's not the goal."
You pick a fight with enough friends at your back to ensure you win. A fight against Brazil is pointless not because we will get wiped but because we only end up worse economically. This is why we entertain alternate options with lower risk but a reasonable yield in fun things to do.
"I sought guidance from Congress and assured them that I would take full responsibility with the final decision. I do. Ultimately, it was my place to say yes or no. I chose yes."
It is not your decision to make. It was congresses and you did not present this before congress. You presented it to certain members of congress and skipped the mandatory 24hr debate period. You are a dictator, bypassing all democratic process.
Well, you get to live with it now either way. Your access is a direct product of your choices. The decision will stand until after Congress elections when we have fulfilled our bargain.
mandatory 24hr debate period
Debate started Day 2035 and ended on Day 2036. I wish I could tell you the exact time, but eRepublik is retarded in message threads. I do know Russia had 8 hours left on their 1st Air Strike and we ended it with 30 minutes on their 2nd. My reckoning makes that about 39 hours. I opened the debate earlier on forums, but Zansi shut them down with only 2 replies -- hence the in-game thread and me not counting that.
and the 24 hour vote ?
Last time we had a major discussion about this 24hr debate and voting, and if i remember correctly, it is NOT mandatory...
As far as I know, it's only not mandatory during a time of war which was not declared.
That's correct. That's why how I bypassed it with my war on Uruguay.
Impreach?
Oh no, clearly Miyagi has been hanging out with the Chinese! They are the next ones renting our regions.
Lololololol...nicely thought out. I love the "no bull at a gate" thought process Miyagi. I'm glad you stuck it up CoT SC. don't see what the deal is there, last thing SA wants to do is make ANY deal that has the Circle of Traitors as part of it. Glad you showed them the door before you started talking to Russia.
Ofcourse there was no impeachment due to that the majority of people don't bother with anything anymore. Especially going to the national forums.

14 Yes
15 No
30 Congress Members + 1 Country President vote
66% majority required to pass.
So exactly 2 did not bother to vote or sought to Abstain instead.
Am I smug about it? No. I take the division seriously and have modified planning to accommodate the disgruntled.
See how a super majority is important Mr. President?
By your rules you would have been gone.
My rules? Have you ever bothered to visit the laws section in Congressional Hall? I have perhaps amended a total of 2.
You are lucky some people made this personal Miyagiyoda.
Otherwise it was Bye Bye for you.
Its been personal from day one. We can all play that game if that is how you choose to interact with your fellow citizens. Personally, I prefer rational discussion over drumming up mass hysteria. But I suppose you use what you have when the facts don't suit your agenda.
It has?
Leon was very aggressive in getting us to vote for you.
He was almost forcing us to. We questioned you but he convinced us you were the right candidate. Today he leads those opposing you.
Voted.
I remeber last eSA meet, we were sitting in a pub, Miyagi, Grim, Crum, Badger (and his better half), Wacky and me. I was pushing Miyagi he must run for CP, that was just after he gave eBR a bit of a push to get their act together, maybe 6 months back. Miyagi was in my opinion the best candidate to take eBR on.
I am simply disappointed that we went backwards where i had hoped a bigger push forward. Many months to wait for something in expectation and then having the goals push back further.
*sigh* You cannot undo the last 2 years overnight. The problem we have is not Brazil but what we have become in isolation.
We need to be in a position to stand alone from Brazil if this is to be anything but a flash in the pan. I have specifically kept what is going on under tight wraps to prevent it being torpedoed and because the situation is very dynamic. Guess that didn't work, but I cannot lay it all out because its changing daily as discussion is warped by the local drums.
I cannot force you to trust me. What I can tell you is that I am constant in my views because they are thoroughly tested and I am consistent going all the way back. To create new opportunity we need to do some creative things. Some of them will be painful, some will seem insane.
I may get it wrong at times, but never believe I will do anything to hurt South Africa or it community.
One thing i can confirm, i do not doubt your loyalty to eSA, Although i do question how things have gone down.
I also recall telling you that you may not like what I have to do to fix things.
True, i remember now, and also true i choose to forget that part ; )
