Import taxes. Should they be increased?
Taco Patato
Hi
There has been some discussion regarding the new work tax, but nothing has been said about the import tax, current import tax is 1%, a low import tax helps our market being populated with affordable products, some of them foreign products that compete with local players, but, what's your opinion?
Should our congress consider modifying import tax?
Maybe set work tax back to 1% and increase a bit the import tax ?
Your opinion matters

Yes we should increase import taxes. It is not fair to penalize American producers but not foreign producers. The entire premise of the pro-tax elites is that it is still profitable to operate. The same applies to foreign goods.
MAGA 😛
If you increase import taxes, raw materials is where we are going to be hurt, if anywhere. If domestic RM prices rise, or the market dries up, factory owners will have to shoulder the burden by moving to buy.
Nonsense. We produce our own materials.
Just a day ago some fellow was bragging how he had over 200 WRM factories.
And maybe he uses them all himself?
I buy nearly 10k cc of raw materials daily. Half the time the cheapest prices are imports.
The invest more in RAW.
It'll just make things more expensive for American citizens. I don't like this proposal for a higher import tax.
And when you raise the work-tax, goods become cheaper??
You're an idiot!
So we'll "BUY AMERICAN!"
I think that's a short-sighted strategy. Foreign goods make up a decent part of our marketplace, normally between three and six of the top 10 offers on any good are imported. Remove that, and there's less competition in the market and prices won't be driven down at the same rate. The race to the bottom is good for consumers-- Americans who buy from the American market. Cheaper goods mean more CC in our pockets, which is beneficial now that the work tax is raised.
In "whose" pockets exactly?
If americans "buy", more profits doesn't mean ALL americans get a part of it. Just those with "900+ factories" as some joker was bragging a few days ago.
a 5% import tax but 1% VAT would be good for protecting our market from foreign markets
Dear earthlings, why is it so hard to understand the game of the everlasting elite puppet-masters?
Have you ask yourself why they want the import-tax low?
Do you know the real reason?
Do you know what the real amount of the reserves are?
Why don't you start asking these questions?
Why don't you demand transparency from your government?
Why do you empower these people every election?
Why?
So, what's the real reason?
raise taxes evenly across the board not just on us who work here.
No

set work tax back to 1% and increase a bit the import tax
Import tax can be increased to 25% on me. Other countries have it.
Work tax 1%
Import tax 10%
VAT 1%
Don't penalize OUR citizens and PROTECT naive industries from foreign dumping practices.
Yes we should increase import taxes.
It seems to me that they failed to raise the tax to work, that steep increase of 3% conditions more than anything to the new ones, who self-produce to subsist. Paying that abusive tax takes away what they could use to buy more food, with what it costs to be new.
What they should do is increase VAT, Romania for example. Those who have surpluses and sell will continue to sell, but those who have fewer resources and survive on the basis of self-consumption will not feel such a blow.
The import rate could go up 5% in principle, then analyze how to move forward.
Excuse my english, I only use the google translator.
