Impeach? Hmmmm....
Grainne Ni Mhaille
This has been a sorry mess. e-Ireland will have woken up today with the mother of all hangovers.
So you want Nith out?
Well done Padraig_Pearse, that was a carefully considered and measured reaction from an IUP congressman, now in Hungary.
Ok, impeachment is it, congress? Well, there's not too long left to decide....
Starks, I hope you're ready, because you'll have just 6 days to show e-Ireland your stuff before the next election.Good luck to you in the diplomatic minefield that is the e-World today.
So, how you feelin' now citizens? Disappointed? Sheepish? Foolish? Angry? Embarassed at your over-reaction? Guilty?
Get a grip. It was a military and civilian exercise. It measured our readiness for real attack. It tested processes and procedures.
Had it been real, you may have been waking up under a Union Jack today. Who knows what colour it would be next week?
World politics is not for the faint hearted. Strategy is waaaaay more complex than petty home-turf squabbles.
Few here in positions of some authority are without blame.
CO's, did you muster your troops immediately?
IDF members, did you follow instructions?
Citizens at large, did you follow the news and inform yourselves before making decisions such as personally seeking help from overseas contacts?
Friendly administrations have already come out and confirmed their continuing support for Nith. Personal citizen-friendships may admittedly take a little longer to repair for some of us, that's true.
And as for giving gold back to soothe the masses, oh yeah, get real please. Will citizens give back their additional experience points and military rank? Will company owners give back their increased revenue from sales? Starks, will you be giving back the surge in extra tax revenue that came in yesterday?
No. It's not gonna happen folks..
For the record, I knew nothing. As dMoD, thats breaking my teeth to admit. But as a loyal soldier of Ireland I did the job I was meant to do, and e-god knows it took me all day.
At 5am this morning Dublin time, the tide began to change. The massive underground red had been reduced to nil. I had the pleasure of watching realtime the captured area be released. Cozza, I was lookin at you ;0) Nice work General.
So people, rail and moan and finger-point and resign from office and ask yourself what wicked evil lies in Nith that he should submit the sons of Éireann to this travesty.
I hope you can find a good reason within yourself to lay the blame.
I can't.
I did what I was officially ordered to do.
I p****d off a HELL OF A LOT OF PEOPLE at home and abroad. I spent the most of the night writing personally to each one. *sorry*
But I'm not disgusted in the administration. I'm glad we were tested. The work to get it right should start now before a real threat arrives. Get over it people. Or someone else will get over you.
So now, a decison to make. Should you post a smart riposte here for the world to see the true magnificence of our infighting, we who were blood-brethren just yesterday? Or should you go into the comfort of your private forum and do it there?
Ignore it?
Hmm, that might be an idea, after all, you could all be just pasting up your congress manifestos now like nothing ever happened..........
Ho Hum. Another dull day in e-Ireland.
An té a chaillfeas a chlú, caillfidh sé a náire.

I was angry yesterday and Im angry today, thats not gonna change.
''Citizens at large, did you follow the news and inform yourselves before making decisions such as personally seeking help from overseas contacts?''
I'm sorry what? Inform ourselves that we were being attacked by a horde of bloodthirsty neighbours? I think we were aware of that and that was the reason we got our oversea contacts.
You can spin and chastise all you like, but many people are unhappy about this.
Grainne, it was a good test of the readiness of the state, but there is a major negative impact to it. Our international relations.
You may say that Nith still has supporters in friendly nations administrations, but how long can you say that they will be there for? We all know administrations come and go in erepublik.
Many foreigners moved here, under the false pretence that we were under attack, to help us, and our government encouraged them to. Why if this was an exercise did we have to bring these people into it? If Nith wanted to see that IDF press releases were actually been released then he should have gotten them pm'd to him, and not sent to the world.

These people who wasted their money on moving tickets etc. have been left bitter and angered, and the question is, would all these who offered their support unconditionally for the cause of our freedom, do the same again? To be honest looking at the reaction of alot of them, I doubt it very much. They may end up in their countires administration soon enough too.
Nith and the IUP blasted Top Gun for declaring War on the US for the war games, and not thinking about the consequences towards the UK. I believe Nith should now, at least, stand up and shoulder the blame for his actions, which have a bad reflection on Ireland.
Clarke, many congressmen gave us their positions as congressmen to move here to help.
The guys who are angered aren't in pwoer anymroe 😉
Sorry, Grainne i dont agree with you on this one, i think the president should not keep information from his people and lie.
There's absolutely no way Nith would have, or will be impeached over this. Remember, 66% majority is needed
Guys, I respect your opinions, though mine may differ.
I too have lots of relationships to repair. I vented my anger many times yesterday. On reflection, I see it differently.
As we have a democratically elected congress, ultimately they will decide Nith's fate. Not me. I've no vote. So in just over 5 hours, may your wishes all come true.
Impeachment should only be used when the person in power is no longer fit for office. Nith is still fit to lead us. If you want to punish him, then don't vote for him in the next presidential election.
I fail to see any way in which removing Nith from office would make eIreland stronger or safer.
Nith is a great president and the war with UK was a great idea.
well done to Nith and Sev. But the reprocussions from it were not considered and it has left a bad taste in some peoples mouths.
And a great article Grainne.

I voted no on impeachment
but
don't tell anyone to "get a grip"
well grainne the majority of congress agrees with me
i agree with bryan
it was a good idea and a great drill but you didn't think of the after shock and if you did well then u didn't think hard enough
@ ojmm - well actually, "I" didn't think at all, as I said, I didn't know anymore than the rest of the e-Irish citizens.
@ Padraig, yes, I see that.
@ JC - I hear ya. But I already did.
I dont have overseas contacts and i was at work when this all went down so i dont really care who is right or wrong on this occasion appart from the fact that i missed out on a battle.
Great article Grainne. I am currently a member of congress and I don't think we (congress) should have been informed of this. It is most unfortunate that citizens from all over the world came to help us in our time of need only to find out it was a drill. I fully support this, not because of how I feel about Nith or because of the party I belong to but for what it was meant to do. I would like to hear from those screaming for impeachment and screaming out against it, how they would handle this differently and still come up with accurate results due to our readiness.
Great article,
The main point is that it actaully was a sucess.
We may of hurt internation relations, but i have tried to correct this with a few articles of thanks in USA and France
Just joined eRepublik the day before yesterday and I think it a bit strange that Nith would organise this with a potential enemy.
Nith for president
it was the best fun i've had since i joined this game
remember it is that a game
Apology accepted, President Nithraldur...
sorry i wish to add to my last comment. For the veterans here please do forgive any nativity in the sentiment for I am not long in this game. I know this is a game, but a game I want Ireland to do very well in the rankings. Looking at the overall ranking system, be it for social, military or experience, Ireland very much holds its own.
I would say, the anger some people have is simply the manner in which the President took actions. No one could complain about their personal resources had they gone into a real war with Britian and still lost Shannon.
I simply ask the administration and the President along with all ecitzens to improve their areas where they can in areas such as hospitals and defence. For us citizens to improve our production capability and not be afraid to take lower paying jobs in areas of such as iron and wood making, so that hopefully, we can help those who manufacture our weapons and secuirity and improve their quality.
Please note I am new here. I wished to make my voice heard. I thank those who read it, and possibly laugh. Fair enough. Hopefully like minded people may see the sentiment in it.
Whilst for me personally, the verdict is out on the current President at this momemnt, I hope he and the adminstration and do what they can and help, assist or encourage the ecitizens whom their allegiance alies to primarily, in improving their areas
