IG Nominations

Day 2,152, 22:27 Published in Australia Australia by Yobbo McSweeny

For those unaware, and judging by deathly silence on forums that is everyone, I've been selected as the new Speaker of the current Senate.

The current Senate is a tad unusual as it is a Non Elected Senate due to fact we were completely wiped at the time of elections. I accept this position with honour and look forward to things returning to normal

First order of business is top open nominations for a new Inspector General.

In line with the IG Act I hereby call for nominations for the position of IG.

Part IV – Inspector General Selection Process
1. The term of the IG is two months. The IG may not be the Prime Minister or a member of cabinet. The IG may serve multiple terms.
2. On the 6th, when the result of the Prime Ministerial Election has been confirmed in eRepublik, the Speaker shall commence a new topic for nominations to remain open for discussion for a period of no less than 24 hours in the Public Gallery
3. Eligible Candidates must be either a:
i. current Senator
ii. past Senator
iii. recipient of the Order of Australia medal
4. Candidates may be nominated with the support of two eAustralian citizens. The nominated Candidate will be required to acknowledge their acceptance (or rejection) of candidature.
5. Candidates may nominate themselves with the nomination of two other citizens.
6. Citizens may only nominate one Candidate each. When a thread records multiple nominations by a Citizen; the first nomination shall be taken as valid unless specifically withdrawn by the nominator.
7. After the nomination period the Speaker shall institute a single vote in the Public Gallery, listing those Candidates who have been nominated to run, for at least 24 hours.
8. The Citizens will then vote for the Candidate they want as Inspector General.
9. The New Inspector General will be the candidate with at least 50%+1 of the votes. Should none of the Candidates receive the required number of votes, all Candidates are removed from the ballot except those scoring the two highest amount of votes for a new round of voting. If there is a tie, all tying candidates go to the next round. This continues until there is a winner.
11. The Past Inspector General will add the new Inspector General to the Inspector General membergroup within 2 days after the completion of voting.
12. Upon membership being granted to the Inspector General membergroup, the new Inspector General shall remove the former Inspector General from the Inspector General membergroup.
13. The New Inspector General is automatically deemed to have signed the Parliamentary Protocol Act agreement by virtue of accepting nomination. The Inspector General is deemed and required at all times to abide by all Constitutional requirements, Acts and Laws of Parliament and any and all Policies and Procedures relating to the running of the Country and Parliament.
