If we can be neither here or there, why the heck should we be anywhere?

Day 485, 11:37 Published in Germany Austria by H. S. Dovewatch

Good Day readers,

First of all, I will introduce myself. Hello! My name is Robert Knotsworth, but my friends call me Robert for short. I was a well known figure in old eAustria, seeing as I was very politically interested and never one to keep myself to myself, I was a congressman for two terms and I did ever so love to use my newspaper to support the union (and try and hurry it's creation up a little) and insult Silent Bob.
I haven't really settled in yet for some reason, but it's happening bit by bit.

Right, now you've read my Autobiography, I want to get onto my article.
From what I've picked up about eGermany-Austria's dilemma in picking which alliance to join, I feel that joining either will have disastrous consequences. For the obvious thing, eSweden would come over here and have something not fantastically positive to say if we joined with Peace (and we'd also lose the Burgenland to eHungary) and if joined Atlantis eHungary would have an excuse to attack the eAustrian regions and thereby burn our homes and slaughter our children. If that's not enough, We occupy, basically, central Europe and therefore one of the most important strategic points in the entire world. This means that if we decide we can put up with the consequences of joining and said alliance we would be contested during to war which would break our citizens and our economy, possibly permanently.

So what will we do? Well, that's for congress to decide. But if I could offer a suggestion, I would suggest we stay neutral.
If we did, then there would be no official pressure from either eHungary or eSweden. Of course, the two enemies may, if they so wished, attack us for something we have (e.g position, grain) that they want but I believe they would have bigger fish to fry attacking their barbaric enemies/defending their sweethearts rather than nabbing a bit of bread or devoting soldiers to gain a little living space.
As well as the lack of negative things, some positively positive stuff may arise like perhaps Any citizens wanting actual peace (rather than the badly named alliance) may join eGermany-Austria to get a little quiet time while to war boils itself to a pulp which may mean that, maybe, we might just perhaps come out, with lots of luck, at the top (or just on) of the top countries list.

So if I could just suggest that, that would be great.

Thank you.
