IA: Getting to know...Lazer Fazer

Day 833, 09:58 Published in South Africa South Africa by Independent Alternative

Today's interview is with one of the people who actually convinced me to move over to the Independent Alternative (even though he doesn't even know it!!). We are having a debate in congress and I observed the way that he a two other members of the IA used some common sense and the fact that they weren't in perfect agreement. It made me realise that the IA doesn't enforce what it's members should think, they don't have to all agree on everything - we are all allowed to have our own opinions and nobody is brainwashed to all come up with the same response. You say what you think or you shut up!

Lazer Fazer is one of the financial gurus we have, so let's get to know him a little bit better:

Birth date: 03 April 2009
Best skill: Manufacturing (9.2😎
Level: 20
Friends: 94
Military rank: General
Medals: 4x hard worker, 3x congress, 3x super soldier

Here were the questions I asked Lazer:

Do you have a hero or role model in eRepublik - if so, who is that and why?
No single role model as such, but many players I’ve come to respect and would like to emulate. Enoch Root, Schums, Mark, atliia, azreal, greyhunter and zamrg to name a few. All of these players have made eRep much more interesting for me, mainly by including me in government and the eSAAF. I should probably blame them for taking my life away as well 😛.

What's your next big goal?
My next big goal is classified, but after that it would be starting a successful company in v2. I’m looking forward to the challenges it will bring, and hopefully a much-needed sense of complex competition in the economic industry.

😁^ Editor's note: This interview was held a little while ago - maybe he was referring to some sort of liberation??? 😛

How much time do you spend on eRepublik a day?
Lately only about an hour or two a day, but at my most active, I used to spend almost 10 hours a day, running through the money market, learning how to use the API properly, and doing some coding for various tracking tools.

How did you start playing eRepublik?
I think it was either an advertisement on mybroadband.co.za or a thread that one of the users posted. It was something along the lines of “The New World needs YOU!”. One of those typical propaganda messages, but I feel for it, and now I’ve signed my life away to eRep.

How many people do you know in real life who plays eRepublik?
One, and he doesn’t even play that much.

What positions do you current hold in eRepublik?
eSA Minister of Finance
Captain of the 3rd Company of the Pretorian Guard in the eSouth African Armed Forced

How long have you been part of the Independent Alternative?
Since the early days I think. I’m not exactly sure when I joined, but I’m almost certain it was within the first 2 weeks.

What made you join the Independent Alternative?
The “No Bullshit” approach that the founding members held so dear, and that has made our party as great as it is today. I remember reading an introductory article or something like that about the IA, stating how it was a party for all those who wanted to keep RL politics and game mechanics separate. I remember thinking to myself how some people take the whole bringing RL into eRep to an extreme, and wanting to be no part of that. I was also considering running for congress for the first time, and so I wanted to run under the banner of a party that really spoke to me and my thoughts.

What in-game aspects would you say you're good at (e.g. politics, economics, media, networking and so on)?
Economics and networking for sure. I strongly dislike politics, mainly because it tends to end up with people bringing RL concepts in to the game, and ruining the fun for everybody. Also, there’s a reason I chose engineering as my future career field…I can barely write to save my life, so media was out of the question from the start. I don’t even have my own newspaper, and I have no intention of starting one anytime soon.

What has been a highlight so far in your e-life?
Being asked to be a squad leader in the eSAAF a while back, then being asked to take over as Minister of Finance by Enoch, and lately being promoted to company captain in the eSAAF. I suppose you could also add starting an organization with a single company in collaboration with my brother, and later expanding our holdings by purchasing new companies and upgrading our existing ones.

That concludes my interview with Lazer Fazer. Tomorrow's interview is a great one, so stay subscribed and look out for it!

Best regards
