I want to do it again (part 2)

Day 1,653, 07:57 Published in South Africa South Africa by mulderpf

In my last article, I told you mostly about the things I've achieved during my last term as president. In this article, I'd like to focus on what I want to achieve in the coming term. These will also be used as a guide for ministers as to what they need to do if I am elected.

Military and defence

Last month part of the new deal I secured was designed to help all military units develop their soldiers. The coming month will hopefully see the full implementation of the scheme.

The coming month will be focused on better support and integration between government and eSAAF. At some point the two became disconnected and I'd like to reconnect them better - I have started paving the way for this already, but a lot of work is needed and I'm happy to put in all the effort to get it done.

Security

There are always threats to our country, both internally and externally. From a security point of view, we always need to be on the lookout for threats to our freedom, but we need to be equally careful in simply branding people a threat because we don't know anything about them. People like conspiracy theories and they would rather come up with all kinds of possibilities of why someone is doing something suspicious, rather than just asking them. We need to always take the firm, but friendly approach and believe in people's innocence until proven guilty. Doing it any other way will simply stifle any sort of growth or activity.

Finance

I won't increase taxes and I won't decrease taxes. Why not? Because I can't.

I can definitely advise congress on my views on taxes and I haven't kept quiet about it, but from a financial perspective, we can simply give advice. I would like to see VAT on hold while we are still making money from the bot. We are now paying a portion of our income back to the citizens via MU's (hopefully we can even increase this), so keeping VAT high is in everyone's interest in the short term.

This month also needs some additional administration due to a game bug that's been around for a while where we cannot donate money to our treasury.

Domestic Affairs

We need to look after our own citizens. Newborns have to nurtured if we want to see them grow into healthy citizens. This does not simply mean throwing money at them, thinking it will train them up. We need to get newbies involved in our community, because that's what is most important about eSouth African society for me.

I would also like to evaluate whether the idea of funding MU's for newborn development actually works or if we should should adapt or change the existing scheme or come up with something new, whether as a replacement or in addition to what we have already done.

Foreign Affairs

Over the last month I have witnessed the strong relationships between ourselves and our neighbours, Australia and Brazil. People have often tried to paint an incorrect picture, saying that we are simply a puppet or not significant enough to matter. This is completely false and whilst we may not be on an equal footing with Brazil and Australia on the battlefield, we certainly are on the negotiating table. I want to ensure that we continue with this great relationship by overseeing the return of Kwazulu-Natal to Brazil as per our agreement.

I would also like to start exploring friendships with other nations out there. We have some good friends out there, but nothing stops us from having more.

Congress

I've been working fairly closely alongside congress over the last month, trying to be as involved as possible where I could be - even as much as to the point where it was pointed out to me that certain things are not my decision. Whilst this may be the case, a president has to be involved with congress and has to ensure that congress, as a representative body of the people understand the strategic direction of the president and his cabinet. I want to continue working with congress as they are ones who ultimately make the decisions.

Cabinet

I consider myself pretty active around here, but there is no way that I can achieve the above alone. I need a strong cabinet who can help me achieve my goals. Choosing people for my cabinet is not an easy task or one that I take lightly. Each and every name is considered and I look at how they can help me and how being in cabinet can help them at the same time. It is not a case of let's put all my friends names against fancy sounding titles. I look for suitable people for suitable roles. As I am still busy thinking about each and every position, it would be difficult for me to drop some names here, but my cabinet would probably contain similar names to my last term, as I thoroughly enjoyed working with them.

Thank you for all the comments on my previous article - it is good to hear that I have some support out there.

Best regards
